AMD Linux driver 21.40.1 has a bug preventing proper setting of clocks and voltages on older cards (RX4x0/RX5x0/Vega/RadeonVII). Given that these drivers are also
usually slower than the older drivers for these cards, we recommend using Linux drivers 20.30 for anything older than RX6000 series.
If you are using Linux drivers 21.40.1 with Radeon VII cards, you need to add the option -fpwm 1 in order to have proper fan control.
AMD Linux drivers 21.40.1 has finally removed the requirement of PCIe atomics but there are problems when you try to mix Polaris (RX4x0/5x0) cards and Vega or newer
cards on the same rig.
Some Nvidia cards will report a lot of stale shares under Windows 11. Using the same driver version under Windows 10 resolves the issue.

Yet another block from Chet! I think we need to reach out to ol' Chet and make sure he knows the extra hash is appreciated as it speeds up the variance process for sure. Great luck is one thing, but even on shit blocks we'll move quicker. Thanks a million Chet and thanks everyone else that has been and continues to mine with the best pool...BitMinter!

Today marks 8 years since the launch of Bitminter. Thank you to all who mine and mined with Bitminter over the years.
Thanks for all you've done Doc. I have missed being here. I couldn't afford to keep my S9's rolling at a loss with the drop in price of bitcoin over the last year. If things keep up, I'll probably be back on BitMinter this weekend with my 4 S9's. I couldn't sell those things to save my life and still have no one interested so I may as well fire them up and keep stockpiling the bitcoin before the halvening.
Hope to see you all soon and get back involved here! I miss working with you behind the scenes a little Doc.

Bitminter now supports Bech32 addresses. So you can cash out to native segwit addresses - those are the addresses starting with "bc1" as specified by BIP-173.
Note that many services don't support Bech32 yet. It's especially annoying that some block explorers don't appear to be able to look them up yet. But I'm sure this will change soon.
If you are using Bitcoin Core then you need to upgrade to version 0.16.0 to get Bech32 support.

How is the notification issue coming? Any chance we may see that soon? I noticed there is already an "email" setting under our account overview and figured it could be as simple as the option being a toggle for "Receive notifications on block". Just checking in and looking forward to the progress!

It all comes down to how many blocks were found during your "Shifts". As shifts fall off without finding a block (which happens to many shifts during a nasty 97% CDF block like the last one) those shifts do not receive pay since no blocks were discovered. With this pool, only the last 10 shifts are paid when a block is found. For example, in December, during that block the total TH/s was 2.7 Ph, while in the most recent the total TH/s was almost 8 Ph. This means that the % of shares per shift was significantly smaller unless you also increased your hash rate during the jump. As of now the current hash rate of the pool is hovering around 4.5 Ph/s. We lost a lot of hash rate after that last block so shifts will take longer to complete, but at the same time, your percentage of submitted shares will rise and the amount you are paid will theoretically be higher than it was when there were many more miners and a higher pool hash rate.
The only way you can expect the same pay on two blocks would be for the pool hash rate to stay the same, and for the block reward to be around the same size. I'm sure in December there were a lot more Transaction fees than there are currently which is a small factor in differing pays.

I just noticed that the Shifts page is reflecting the last shift that fell off is a 0 pay when we know that a block was discovered during the shift. Just wanted to bring it to your attention in case for whatever reason the shifts page is getting a little more screwy on you than the usual.

I've been meaning to ask and thought this might be the easiest method of discussion. Is there any possibility for a notification system or an app that would alert when a block is found? I discovered that you were utilizing the Yo App for a while and I have sent multiple Yo's but never receive one when a block is discovered. Are there any plans to implement some type of a notification system on the accounts? That would be the most simple method I would assume since we are registering accounts via email address. Just a thought. I know I would personally love this, even if it required a donation and was considered a perk.

Just cause it says newbie here doesn't mean I'm a newbie to mining or to the pool.
I honestly never noticed your badge and never really take it into consideration. People learn things all the time whether they are newbies or not. My next response was going to be that the only way to spread the Tx fees to everyone over time would be to take it away from the ones that rightly earned it by mining it. Luckily everyone was quick to jump in and help clear up a misunderstanding and spread some more knowledge. Newb or not, I'm glad you are here, glad you are mining with us, and glad you learned something that will hopefully help you down the road some. I still learn all the time and I have been in it for a bit as well. When I've been in it so long I can't learn anything new, then I probably won't be interested in it anymore!

I guess I misunderstood too... So you're saying we aren't accumulating transaction fees since December. The only transaction fees that are paid out are those that are part of the block that is found by us. Is that right?
Yes, the only way to get any income with mining is to find/create new blocks. The income from mining a block is the combination of new coins that are created with the block, and the transaction fees of all the transactions in the block.
When you create a new transaction because you want to pay someone, it just floats around on the bitcoin peer-to-peer network. It is not part of the permanent ledger that is the blockchain. To anyone observing the transaction it is merely an intention to pay, which may take place in the future. Another transaction sending the same coins somewhere else might become part of the blockchain instead. This transaction is considered unconfirmed. You might trust it to pay a cup of coffee, but not a car (certainly not a Lambo).
So you offer a transaction fee on your transaction, to incentivize miners to include it in a block. The miners mine a block with your transaction, they get paid and now your transaction is in a block. Your transaction is in the block at the top of the chain. It has 1 confirmation, which is the block it is in. It's somewhat more trustworthy. But what if there is a blockchain fork and the other side of the fork becomes the longest chain? Then this transaction may yet disappear. This becomes less likely as more blocks are added on top of the block with the transaction. Once there are 5 additional blocks the transaction is said to have 6 confirmations. This is often considered to be the point where you can assume it is a permanent part of the blockchain. The recipient can trust that the coins you sent them are now theirs. This is what you paid the miners for.
Is there some explanation other than a long run of bad luck for why this is taking so long? Has difficulty jumped that much higher? Other variables?
Currently the difficulty is almost 3.3 trillion (called billion in continental europe). This means it takes a tremendous amount of work to find a block. On average it takes 3.3 trillion (mining pool proofs of) work. If the difficulty goes up the average time to find a block goes up. If our hashpower goes up the average time to find a block goes down.
Compared to 3 months back, the difficulty is now 2.5x what it was. Our hashpower is 3.5x what it was. So our average time to find a block has gone down. Further increasing the hashpower will further reduce the time to find blocks. It makes all rounds (time between blocks) go by faster, but most importantly of course the long and unlucky ones.
Our amount of work since the last block is over 10.6 trillion. That's more than 3x the difficulty and is certainly bad luck. This is fairly rare.
The worst block we've had took an amount of work that was 11x the difficulty. This is the awful block of which we do not speak. Except I just did. Thankfully something like that is extremely rare.

In the meantime, I would also like to add that I'm glad to see you are adjusting the servers to help prevent rental issues. I know I for one am not above renting hash and pointing it here since some other pools are not fans of the rentals and actually try to ban them. Not my pool, so they can do what they want. However, any rental hash I get gets pointed right here to Bitminter. Thank you for working on that.

I don't know if this has been brought up before or not, but these long gaps between blocks are likely to get more frequent i would think unless the pool grows rapidly enough to keep up with the increasing difficulty. Given that possibility, would it be possible to look at paying out the fees every ten shifts or so? That way we get a little bit back every now and then no matter what. I honestly have no clue what that would amount to.
The problem is, with PPLNSG, only the LAST 10 shifts get paid...so in this case the many shifts which were completed before the last 10 will receive nothing in exchange for their work. The only way to provide a payment to EVERYONE is to treat this like a completely different pool, which I don't believe is the goal. Many people are here because they prefer the PPLNSG Format, and in addition, believe in supporting smaller pools so that we remain decentralized. If more users come, then of course we will theoretically find blocks faster, but users will receive less BTC for their share due to having to spread the love to all the workers.
I guess I might be misunderstanding your question or thought, but it sounds like you are looking for more of a PPS pool which pays you per share no matter the luck of the pool. The biggest downside to these other than the obvious centralization issue, would be the higher fees that are charged to maintain that type of pool. Pool operators of PPS must pay the reward per share and to cover the times of bad luck, they charge higher fees. It's just the nature of the beast.

CKPool iOS worked fine for me
I´m on Android. Not had any problems before, but got a new phone two days ago. Double checked the setup of CKPool and it says everything is OK. Just have to wait for the next block later today to see what happens.

Android CK Pool, never had an issue before other than just a little delay of up to 15 minutes. But generally I got the Minergain almost immediately and then the ck pool about 10 minutes later. didn't get either on this block...very strange.
