Re: AAQ (Actually asked questions) for Spend Bitcoins

Hi!

why were the Auspost Load& Go suspended?

very bad ;(

I'm wondering the same thing. Jeremy said the money got sent back, but when I called auspost up (and paid $4 for the pleasure of talking to them!) they said there is no problem with my card. I then sent funds to it myself to test, and it worked.

What's going on Jeremy?

In all honestty though, I actually feel VIOLATED.

It's as if Matthew reached into my pocket and stole the Bitcoins right out from under me. This couldn't have come at a worse time, as I already spent the Bitcoins that I had planned to win, so in essence, he's not only a Scammer, but also a thief. Matthew stole my bitcoins.

You should slap yourself for spending money you didn't have.

What did you spend the coins on?

so is it official yet? has anyone heard a peep from pirate since friday?

He's been in and out of IRC changing names between pirateat40 and steamship. It's bizarre really. When he's "steamship" he's been offering to buy pirate debt at reduced rates. No idea if he's serious.

I empathise with your situation, however do you think by yelling empty threats at pirate you've increased your chances of getting paid? I know it must be frustrating but surely patience and understanding is a more productive strategy until pirate gives more information. There are many other people in a similar situation to you.

I hope you get your coins.

right now.
as in: just has.
And you also have to remember that you're not trading with a company or robot (for the most part) like in the actual stock exchanges. You're trading with a person...

What makes you think there are no bitcoin trading bots?

What would be the easiest or cheapest way to buy some bitcoins.
I have only credit cards and paypal in $

Establish a rapport with a seller by buying coins for bank transfer. Once you've gained the sellers trust he may allow you purchase via paypal. You need to have spent 2k with me before i'll even consider allowing paypal.

Tell us the story about how you found out about bitcoins and what got you interested in it.

Everyone in my IT department at work was talking about it last year, so I got on board as things went on the surge to 30. The rest is history.

nah was a few years ago.

Im no lawyer or anything but why would it be interesting ?

I suppose because i've never seen paypal going to court over that amount of money. I'm curious as to what their process would be, and how they would react if challenged to take me to court, i think I will test this out, can't cost me anything if I get a friend to do a chargeback.

I can confirm 100% if you have no funds paypal will send debt collector after you.
Some random lawyer/collector sent me a letter to collect my ~$4 I owed.... And that was after not paying for only like a month....

Im in AUS aswell.

Not if my paypal isn't linked to my bank account, so no direct debit options, and there are no funds in my account because I withdraw all funds as soon as they hit paypal. I wonder what would happen then?

edit: also, there are no credit cards attached to my paypal for them to charge either.

That would be interesting to take to court. In fact, i'm almost curious enough to have a friend try a chargeback to test how their system works.

I don't suppose you've still got a copy of the letter?

You should not sell BTC via paypal in the first place.

Paypal does not allow any swap or exchange of other e-currency in its platform. They are very sensitive about it.

I recommend you to write this off, the odds are stack against you.

I disagree. I've posted this in another thread, but this is relevant: I sell BTC on paypal and ask that the buyer select "personal" and "gift". The buyer cannot chargeback then. Obviously the risk is on the buyer, and this reduces my sales somewhat, but I am focusing on local sales in my home town to establish trust.

I've conducted about 40-50 transactions and haven't had a problem with paypal yet, though i'm not saying it won't happen at some point.

A buyer can still pay for the item via PayPal with a credit card payment, and then dispute the credit card payment with the bank. PayPal will yank the money right back out of your PayPal account. This can happen months later, as you can see here: http://blog.unibulmerchantservices.com/visa-chargeback-reason-codes-and-time-limits/.

Re: Newbie here, saying hello to the community

I've been interested in alternative currencies for some time now, I first learned about Bit Coin from the Keiser Report in 2010, and have casually followed it since. Now I have an ecommerce website I'd like to eventually setup to accept Bit Coin, so I thought I'd join this community to better educate myself and network.

Anyhow, I look forward to the journey and welcome any insights from the front lines Wink

Hi! I'm new here too, and am looking to set up a site similiar to other's on here that sell bitcoin mainly to Australian's from Sydney. Do you have your site up for viewing yet?

Re: Sell Bitcoins for paypal?
by
bitcoinsydney

Is it possible to sell Bitcoins on an exchange which then transfers your money to a PayPal account? I'd like to avoid using a bank account for this. MtGox doesn't seem to support paypal...

I'm going to avoid selling without an exchange website so I don't get scammed.

All I want to do is convert BTC to dollars in a paypal account, not the other way. Will PayPal block my account if I am doing this?

This probably isn't exactly what you had in mind, but i've not found an easy to convert BTC to paypal. I've taken to selling coins instead, which isn't that much effort.

What I do is advertise on noticeboards around colleges, business parks and anywhere else I think there might be people interested. I link them to this ad i've posted

http://www.gumtree.com.au/s-ad/chatswood/other-stuff-for-sale/bitcoins-for-aud-sydney-chatswood-/1001215988

and ask them to do the following

1. After selecting send funds enter in bitcoinsydney@gmail.com in the "to" field
2. Enter in [SALE AMOUNT] in the amount [[SALE AMOUNT] X [BTC RATE]]
3. Select AUD for the currency
4. Select Person and "gift"
5. Press continue
6. Ensure "I will pay the fee" is ticket
7. Enter in your bitcoin deposit address in the subject field at the bottom of the screen [where it says "you've got funds"]
8. ignore the message field, it's not relevant to my automated process.
9. Press "send money"
10. Usually the bitcoin network will process your confirmations within 20 minutes to 2 hours

It's obviously a leap of faith, but so is using an exchange or any of the other services. Usually most people like to conduct a face to face trade, or give me a call to chat before going through the transaction. From this i've built up a small base of customers who trust me, which gives me a better way of converting BTC to cash rather than withdrawing through an exchange.

I've not had any problems with paypal, though it is in the back of my mind. I withdraw all funds as soon as they hit paypal for that reason. At least then if they freeze my account for whatever reason [not sure what that would be] i'll only lose a small amount.
