if the token has actual market value
Actual market value?! What is that?

please stop pretending word games can change the law. You have judges who interpret the law. You think there is a snowball chance in hell you will convince ANY judge bitcoins have no value?

becoin, the only question you have to ask is "What would a judge think?"

Re: Where is Bitcoin in the Technology adoption lifecycle?

It seems that usually people who follow tech or finance closely seem to know about it, if at all. And even then not always so much.

Since it's usually the scam du jour they're hearing about, little of this perception is positive.

The more I think of it, the less I want any of this at all. I'm not interested in a council, union, org, or foundation.

Imagine if his dad was excommunicated due to him having a son who conducted the largest crypto-currency on the internet. Thanks to one man's actions, the whole family will forever feel the fallout caused by their kinfolk. Thus…

Interesting, yet sad and unfortunate; wishing for this sort of thing to happen to people.

Forethought can be a fantastic thing. Sadly, it is often too late for that.

As for a scammer being an asset to the community, maybe, I mean, Bruce Wagner engaged the community with his bitcoin show and meetups and could have been thought of as an asset in that way. However when his history was exposed his entire credibility went down the drain and he hasn't been doing any since then. I think at least Bruce Wagner has served his time right, he might deserve a second chance…

I support this, although I'm not holding my breath.

Probably be a good idea to push for this if/when we ever get a serious move towards some real forums software up in here, at the very least.

Re: bitfloor needs your help!

It was glossed over earlier, but it would appear that bitfloor had no TOS as part of their operating practices. At least seemingly not accessible from their website. TOS would usually be incorporated into a greater contract for use, etc. I am curious if users had some form of contract or use agreement with bitfloor before using the service.

If not, how could this affect bitfloor and their customers moving forward?

I go to the site and it reads this (which it still reads)

Bitfloor Website
Is currently offline.
It will be back shortly.
I check back later and its up. So I sent 136 coin to my deposit address.
Anyone else think the message on the site should read
DO NOT SEND ANY COIN TO US WE HAVE BEEN HACKED!!!!!
or something of that nature. I only keep my money in coin for less than 24 hours before converting it and got screwed. Guess I stop taking bitcoin cause its too risky.

Speaking like a true Junior.

Imagine how Bitfloor feels right now.

Speaking of Junior League: looking through Google's cache of bitfloor, and maybe I'm just missing something obvious here, but I don't see TOS at all. Did bitfloor users agree to a specific TOS via email, or some form of messaging, or… what?

I bought me an Ouya…

Were you part of the Kickstarter? If so, you pledged and gave a donation.

Or you pre-ordered one. Either way, good luck with the economics of the Ouya.

Found bitcoin then found the forum; lurking now for about a year.

I thought it was time to say hi.

Hi!

Good choice of a first image. That logo is much better than the crappy BTC being forced into existence.

Thanks. I feel the retro-styled logos have a simpler, subtler, more understated charm.
