Re: will those that intervened at $177 do so again.

I really don't get why people are selling when they should actually buy like mad. If you buy before fork, you will have bitcoins in two forks so no matter which one (or both) will be continued, you have bitcoins in both forks so you are safe. And in the opposite, when you sell, then you will have to decide which fork to buy in later ... Twisted logic huh?
If you have 100btc at 250$ your portfolio is 25K usd

If you have 2x100 btc in two chains you would have 50k usd! Not possible.

You have to go at least /2

So at least 250/2 per btc...

You don't get it. By buying before fork you are betting that one of them will succeed. And you have the same amount of shares in both of them which means you always win no matter what. If you sell, you are losing both and will have to guess later which one will win.
No you don't get it! Market will not let you double spend and suddenly be x2 richer. It will self adjust so you get at most the same amount of capital invested. AT BEST.

Please reread what i typed. I didn't say anything about double spend or that you will be 2 times richer. I said that no matter which fork will win, you will have it's shares and don't have to guess which one will it be. And if new fork for example will retain it's value and old one will still be mined because some people will want to, then you will be able to sell your bitcoins from old fork if someone will pay for them doh. It's so hard to get it?

Maybe the voting system should be changed. Now is 1 vote per person but maybe it would be better to vote with wallet strength. That way you would not need to bribe anybody because richest would had strong vote anyway. And it would be much more simple.

i'm not sorry for them at all. They could spend this time better by creating even tiniest services for bitcoin instead of wasting time watching price swings trying to rob other bitcoiners. We would be much further if people would stop having fun and the price would reflect that too what would be good for everybody.

I'm also not nervous at all. I wasn't expecting to be a billionaire in a month. I'm holding my amount of bitcoins and didn't lost anything and i'm sorry for people who sold and lost because of this.

You're wrong. There hasn't been any "contraction" in Bitcoin. There has been only exponential growth so far.

So the price has never, ever gone down.  It's just been a straight line upward at all times.  Okay.  Got that.

Nice name.

It's not about the price but about growth (either positive or negative). Bitcoin's growth never stopped but expanded exponentially. "The Market is always wrong" when it comes to putting fair valuations.

The fluctuations in Bitcoin price are irrelevant as the Bitcoin ecosystem kept growing exponentially. The growth of the ecosystem itself never experienced a sudden drop like that price drop from 2xx to 5x.

Many offer the "tulip mania" example when it comes to bubbles but thing is there never was a real demand to justify that tulip price, unlike with Bitcoin.

A real bubble is created when price becomes totally disconnected from the reality on the ground. Bitcoin is currently undervalued thus talking about bubbles is retarded.

very good said.

yup, its up to us what we want more: to gamble to have more bitcoins that are worth less overall (like when we will panic sell) or to have the same amount of bitcoin than before but way more valuable when we will just hold.

The Chinese speculators collectively dump 100k. It turns to a full on market panic where 500k are dumped.

the trick is to learn lesson from April and don't panic Smiley

PSA: A correction now, even a big temporary sell-off, would be totally normal.

That's not saying we'll get one, but don't panic if it happens. The "DON'T PANIC" posts during a mini-crash may fall on deaf ears because they look desperate. They aren't; it is a fact that markets don't move in straight lines. Don't be a weak hand. Besides being generally cowardly, it is very expensive to your financial wellbeing.

We now return to our regularly scheduled rally Smiley

less than 20000 btc left on gox... where is that sell of gonna come from...

Indeed. It's possible, even somewhat likely, that Second Market soaked up all the coins weeks ago and we're now feeling the coin drought. Add that to the China tinderbox and BOOM. I expect continued rally, I just want to preemptively warn people that corrections are normal and healthy, sky isn't falling if the price dives one day, etc.

I wonder how recent 266 bubble affected people. Are they now not scared by bubbles any more and even if someone will dump lets say 100k bitcoins at once we will recover really fast? I'm not going to do anything when price will drop hard. Maybe will buy some more if i will have cash ready. But what others will do.

I don't know if you were thinking about this but lets assume that governments are really going to cut 10% out of everyone account money. Then what will probably happen, when they will do this with mtgox accounts? Are they going to cut your money stored there too?

soon there might be no bitcoins for sale

ive seen that before.. and thats when the bubble crashed Smiley

now is slightly different situation, people don't fear bubbles any more because they cant kill bitcoin and price will recover anyway. there will be volatility but me thinks we are going up faster and faster.

What just happened?

Someone heard some good news before we did? At least i hope that's the case.

Probably good gox news that's not public yet....

If it's Gox news I would rather guess it's bad news.

Maybe, but there was a big meeting with the US government yesterday. Maybe something positive came out of it.

I don't understand why the Bitcoin Foundation is being silent on this. Seriously, can't one of them just tweet "meeting good", anything? Very frustrating, and frankly insulting.

maybe they are buying those bitcoins now before they tell...
