bitfoo, I will give you 1.01 BTC shipped to Maryland. I'll pay first.

I'll probably take you up on that. But I'd give MXRider a chance to respond first, since we sorta hijacked his thread.

There was once a wiki for such things, but now I'm having some trouble finding it.

I recently stayed at Lekkerurlaub in Berlin, which accepts Bitcoins:

It's a part of this cluster of bitcoin-accepting stores in Kreuzberg, Berlin:

Re: Liberty Reserve shutdown is a boost for Bitcoin?
by

So anyway, back on the original topic.

I'm not even a regular on localbitcoins.com, but I recently posted an ad to sell a few coins. The person who bought them from me told me that they got $#$$!% because of the LR shutdown, and that his business partners have now switched to using BTC instead. I also had to help him with his wallet setup, explain a few Bitcoin concepts, and give him some advice about security.

The boost to Bitcoin due to the LR shutdown might already be happening on a grassroots level...

[WTS] Germany prepaid 15 € credit: blauworld / eplus / base / ortel (0.15 BTC)
by

http://www.oybee.com/item.php?id=97001691

I'm selling a 15 € prepaid card (16-digit code) for the following mobile networks in Germany:

base
blauworld
e-plus
ortel mobile
ay yildiz
mtv mobile

It's sold on oybee, so you will get the code as soon as you purchase it. I accidentally bought this card, and then realized I was not on any of these networks. 0.15 BTC.

Oh wow, I really missed Nagle! But proudhon has been doing a pretty good job defending the bear cave in his absence.

Just to set the record straight.... Mt. Gox did not originally stand for Magic the Gathering: Online. That was an early jab at Bitcoin made by SomethingAwful, or 4chan, or whatever they were.

The wayback machine can set the record straight for us! (hint: 4chan wasn't kidding)

Re: Opensource tradebot to guard Bitcoin against speculation (and hyperdeflation)
by
bitfoo
on 06/04/2013, 04:31:20 UTC
1. Build an algorithmic Bitcoin trading bot (aka black-box): minimize risk, maximize profit, optimize speculative gain.
2. Opensource it.
3. Observe bankers, traders, speculators (plus, who knows, systemic powers) jump on it. (Temporarily, they’ll profit even more. Accept it.)

It's a nice thought, but if your bot's trading strategy is public, it'll be quite easy to game it or to front-run the bot to your disadvantage. Also, in a trending market, uninformed bots that try to add liquidity and damp out the noise will typically be overrun by people with knowledge of the true fundamentals.

Re: [CLOSED] CellCoin

BitcoinWireless has not yet launched either.  That least BTCBuy as the sole remaining source.  Each month I refill my mobile phone service (currently Virgin Wireless prepaid, previously T-Mobile prepaid) and use either CellCoin or BTCBuy and have had great experiences with both.

Thanks to uncertainty introduced by FinCEN, BTCBuy is gone too. Time to start lobbying the carriers to accept Bitcoin?

Re: [ANN] Bitfetch - Anonymous Remote Torrent Downloading
by
bitfoo
on 08/02/2013, 07:22:26 UTC
My first attempt at sending BTC to this service failed - my account didn't get credited at all. Scrat Acorns responded quickly to my email and also gave me a generous amount of extra credit so that I could test the service fully.

As everyone has been saying, the interface is slick. My test (well seeded) torrent was downloaded at 9MB/s. Download from the server to my computer was equally fast. What more could one ask for?

If GLBSE were still alive, I'd be dumping BitcoinTorrentz shares right about now.
