Speculators and leeches have had a "shit" year. Everybody else is just fine.

BTC was ARTIFICIALLY DEPRESSED.... SO AS TO TAKE ADVANTAGE OF A LOW BUYING PRICE before the paypal announcement... when new egg announced it was in the high 500 low 600's and had upward movement.... this is going to be bigger than that.. and with tax season coming up all the stowing of fiat away into digital... this will bw huge...

Not saying you are right, but a hypothetical question: Would insider trading regulations apply to currency purchases? I assume not.

Re: Predicting about $420 in 24 hours, upper $400s by Thursday

Lol the site didn't predict this. Nobody knew these news about PayPal would have such huge impact.. No, not even that site..

What if news does not move price like this? Also, are you sure that you fully comprehend the potential of a predictive learning algorithm?

As one who usually argues that long-term trends in BTC are not at all news driven: it's pretty obvious that THIS move was news driven.

Also, a price pattern recognizer may actually be good at predicting a market's responsiveness to positive news. But it will of course not be able to predict WHEN the news happens.

Didn't you got enough info? Igorr, falling, me...all proven correct, correct predictions, correct info.

Lol no you haven't. You've been predicting fall to <$100 or even <$10. Predicting the general direction for a little while isn't difficult as there's a 50% chance of being right. This current "fall" is nothing. You idiot(s) are as far away from being "correct" about anything as it's possible to be.

Re: Reason for decline over months

what surprises me is how little the transaction volume has increased. Transactions are everything for bitcoin. Bitcoin will go to the moon if it is adopted as a payment mechanism, which means massive levels of transactions.
but the volume remains utterly miniscule. A few tens of thousands btc traded per day, and most of that can be accountedfor in terms of miners and speculators.
good news would be an increase in transactions to an economically material level

If you want to compare transaction volumes with the past you have to compare it in fiat values though, 10 BTC today is not the same as 10 BTC a year ago.

No. You don't.

Why do you think what anyone "deserves" has anything to do with where the price will go?

BTC is suffering something very strange. I mean, can someone explain, please, what is going on with the price that stuck between 450-500 USD; is ithis normal or is jut me making a scene?

Btc is not "suffering", it's not strange, nothing is wrong and you are making a scene Smiley

Someone is spending a lot of money to fund shills..  A LOT there are everywhere lol.

If someone is paying fallling to troll they should ask for their money back, he's not very good at it.

He keeps just posting "This user is currently ignored" over and over, I don't see how that is either bullish or bearish.

OP might be right, there is still too much optimism for a rally. Only when most if not all of the optimists are gone will we see the true bottom. I don't think it has to take a year or more though, a lot can happen in a year.

Falling, schmalling. I bought at $440 a few months ago, still made money at todays price. I've saved up some more fiat since then, I think it's time to buy some more soon.

So should I, or should I not sell out of my BTC to Fiat Currency?

On the contrary, down trends are when you are supposed to buy.

You can ban him. There is an "ignore" button. I visit this forum maybe twice a month to see what's going on and had never heard about this person (or so I thought.) Lo and behold, they were already on my ignore list.

Because despite popular opinion on this board, "news" isn't what drives bitcoin prices, and it never has been.

Re: Why the fiat price of Bitcoin is stagnant.
by

Also people who hang around here too much get completely myopic and think every price changes from one week to the next somehow reflects some kind of long-term trend in price. If you instead go out and, you know, actually have a LIFE every once in a while, you'll worry much less about bitcoin, and you'll see everything in perspective. Long "stagnant" stretches like this are very normal in bitcoin history. In fact this one hasn't even been that long.

Re: Has technical analysis been thoroughly debunked in the bitcoin community yet?
by

A lot of people around here say TA is a "self-fulfilling prophecy" -- I'm not so sure. Fib levels, for instance -- you see those in all sorts of natural and mathematical applications. Large stochastic movements often also bear resemblance to sine functions. I'm not convinced that there isn't more to it.

There are absolutely patterns in bitcoin prices, there is no question about that. (Anyone who doesn't see them are probably blinded by some sort of dogmatic view on TA.) Whether those patterns follow classical TA "rules" or whether they are different for bitcoin, I'm not educated enough in classical TA to say.

However what is absolutely true and what you should never forget, is that studying price patterns can never ever be more than a proxy for understanding market psychology. The price is moved by people, and people cause all the patterns to happen. If a pattern repeats itself, it is only because groups of people tend to act similarly in similar situations.
