How many more thousands of times are we going to have to give people this explanation?  Shouldn't we just change the name?

I hate alt cryptos that end in 'coin' anyway.  What a dumb name.  Although I hate 'Ripple' at least they weren't so foolish to adopt another 'coin' name.

What name do you propose? I haven't come across anything better.

lol true.  But at buymastercoins they offer security and convenience - so you've always got that value added to look forward to.  I wouldn't want to be inconvenienced using other systems.  Sometimes paying more for security just make me feel good.

Paying 250% above market price is a steal when you factor in the unmatchable convenience and security they provide.

It would be cool if the buyer/seller forum name linked to the PM screen for that username

If buymastercoin.com did not deliver on purchase you could call it "a scam".
You agree with the given price per mastercoin. The fact you are not checking anywhere else for better prices is not the problem of buymastercoin or Mastercoin itself.

Then what do you call it when a guy disguises himself as an apple store employee to sell your grandmother an iPhone for $1400?

Buymastercoin.com isnt a scam, it is advised to buy Mastercoins through buymastercoin.com to avoid problems.
They do deliver the Mastercoins if bought.
Yeah, 'avoid problems'.  Like paying 200% of what the market rate is?  That could be a problem.

Mastercoin foundation has an executive director who is friends with the buymastercoin guy.  I think it is a conflict of interest to give the appearance of endorsement.  If you ask me, Ron ought to get rid of that guy just because it is 'scammy' - albeit they will send you the MSC after you paid way too much.  Mastercoin simply doesn't need crap like that to piss people off.

I agree this doesn't look good for Mastercoin. I'm a believer in the free market, so if that guy wants to rip people off that's his right. But when he rips off newcomers to mastercoin who are trying to learn, it doesn't send a good message. Especially considering the cloak of legitimacy that the mastercoin foundation provides through the links/ad placement. It's not right. Either he should lower his prices, or the foundation tone down the advertising, or place some sort of disclaimer.

the  mastercoin fundation will accept your site instead of the fucking buymastercoin.org
I'll agree with you, buymastercoin.org is a fucking scam.  What kind of a loser wants to make a profit in that fashion?  However, the mastercoin foundation doesn't have anything to do with that crook.  Mastercoin foundation will also put advertisement from your company no matter how dumb the price is on your product.  Mastercoin doesn't endorse the advertisers who use the site.  However, I can see the conflict from your point of view.  I wish Mastercoin Foundation would dissociate from that scammer as it just looks bad.  Additionally, sometime people get tricked and it leaves a bad feeling.  buymastercoin.org was also the one spamming the hell out of the blockchain while the Mastercoin funding was occurring.  Idiots.

I agree. I almost fell for that when I was first learning up on mastercoin. I thought that was the official mastercoin buy site at first and almost purchased. Actually, it's almost fraudulently misleading, given how it is so heavily promoted via links and advertised by the mastercoin foundation. I didn't let that incident make me look down on mastercoin, though it may to some people.

I would like to buy 10 Mastercoin at .15 each. Can I be put me on the list?
Have you contacted all the sellers below .15 in the order book. It seems there're plenty of MSCs at 0.14 for you there.
I contacted every guy below .145 and no answers Sad
Often times, the list includes prices which aren't available in reality.  Gotta keep going up the list.  The true price at any time is often higher than what the order book indicates.  It is an inefficient market.  Max does a great job, but it is not perfect.  The only orders which are guaranteed are those in green highlight.  You can accept those orders without contacting the seller.  The MSC is already on deposit in escrow.  To claim those, just send the bitcoin.

Can you pre-fund buy orders?

This is a multi-million dollar project, and here everyone is bickering and complaining for the last 6 pages in this thread. How about we spend less time pointing fingers and more time coming up with a solution?

+100. Nxt is just around the corner, and may beat Mastercoin to launching the D.Ex.

Yeah apparently scheduled to launch at the very beginning of January, 2014.  I don't know too much about NXT as I've only just looked into it, but their forums and users seem to be extremely active.

It should be said explicitly that Mastercoin's "first-mover advantage" - which JR mentions in his white paper - may disappear. Another project may hire full time developers, copy the Mastercoin code that has already been written, and complete its project before Mastercoin. This is not some highly improbable "worst case scenario", but a distinct possibility that everyone involved in Mastercoin should be concerned about.

This is not meant as a criticism of Mastercoin's current developers who, I know, are devoting what time they have to the project. What I write is directed at the board, which, in my view, is getting caught up in peripheral parts of the project, and is deferring judgment on questions of immediate importance. Rather than debating what currency we are going to pay developers in, we should hire developers!

EDIT: We should hire developers and, at least for now, simply ask them in what currency they would like to be paid.

Well, at least mastercoin has a few million dollars in it's development chest at this point. :-)

Maybe not for long, someone was talking buying Mastercoin with the Bitcoins fundraised, and paying the developers in Mastercoin. Pretty sure this would just harm the project. It will also create a pump from initially acquiring the Mastercoins, and then a dump when the developers sell them to pay their real life expenses.

that suggestion was turned down i believe
