SO, at this stage of the game the fork happened already?  About an hour and a half ago?  I guess I'm too late, right?

Coinbase does not support Bitcoin Atom.  How do I do this?  And, since the coins are in their wallet, they have the only access to the keys.

Yeah I read your post as coinomi for some reason. You would need to move your coins to a supported wallet before the fork. Or wait till after the fork and then get your private key and import that to a wallet that supports atom.

No idea how you get the private key from coinbase but I'm sure someone else will be able to help with that part. The good news is that there is no rush for it, you will be able to do it recursively. As long as you own bitcoin at the fork and you can get the private keys for the wallet they are in then you can do this any time after the fork.

Right, but Coinbase is the only one that has the keys at the fork.  How do I get it from them?

Using Armory with BitcoinABC
by
bitplanet
on 15/01/2018, 14:57:35 UTC
Greetings,
I would like to know if I can run Armory (w pre-fork wallets and keys) with bitcoin ABC (I would remove bitcoin core to do this) in order to use Bitcoin cash.
My understanding is that the pre-fork wallets (after I move all the coin to another new post-fork wallet) on Armory would have bitcoin cash available when Armory picks up the bitcoin ABC node.
Is this viable and if not, how can I get my BTH?
I have read bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=2070058.0 and many other posts, but still don't have a clear understanding.
Thank you in advance for anyhelp anyone can offer (esp. goatpig)

Location of blockchain directory
by

My friend and I are both using the latest version of bitcoin-qt on a mac with el capitan.
In the interest of saving harddrive space I would like to remove the blockchain from my mac and put it on a separate drive.
He and I, both, cannot find the directory in the normal place:

~/Library/Application Support/Bitcoin/

It is not there.  I have searched everywhere on my computer, and his, and cannot find the file in order to erase/remove it?

Where is it?  What is is named by default?

I am running bitcoin core v.11.2 for my mac.  I have been running it for yars, and now it will not let me verify the blockchain.  I'm stuck 13 weeks behind.
There are always at least 2 to 3 connections with the network, but no progress.
How can I get it to run the way it used to?

I have posted before and I am still wondering if anyone can help.

I am stuck loading the blockchain at 13 weeks ago with the message "no blocksource available"

I have been using all the other versions of Bitcoin qt for years and have never had a problem.

Can someone please shed some light on this problem?

Thanks

I'm using OS 10.10.5 with an updated Bitcoin-qt V0.11.0 64 bit.
It is stuck on the chain 10 weeks ago.
It says "no block source available"
I have tried to reload bitcoin-Qt again, but no movement.  My proxy address is turned off.
Can anyone offer some insight, please?

I read the thread about setting up the miner on linux by miaviator but I still can't get cgminer to work on my machine.  I followed the directions to a "t".
Does anyone have another suggestion about installation?
Is anyone else running into this problem?

Installing cgminer and cpuminer with gridseed on ubuntu
by
bitplanet
on 23/04/2014, 23:45:17 UTC
Hi
I read the epic thread regarding installation of cgminer and cpuminer for ubuntu 12.04.
I am trying to install it in order to mine with a gridseed system.  After curl and jansson install fine, I keep getting error messages when attempting to build cpuminer from github.

When I get to -
CFLAGS="-02 -Wal -march=native" ./configure

I get:
configure: error: in '/home/x/usb-miner/software/cpuminer':
configure: error: C compiler cannot create executables

What am I doing wrong?
Please help me.  I think I am almost to the point of mining, but I'm stuck

Anything anyone can do would be greatly appreciated.

Global deflation and Bitcoin
by
bitplanet
on 22/03/2014, 16:43:15 UTC
What could potentially happen to the value of Bitcoin if for the next several years if we go through a global deflationary cycle?

Based on:

a) The tech bubble bursts
b) The Chinese housing market and "subprime" bubble bursts
c) Spending of babyboomers declines
d) The Dollar goes through massive deflation
e) Deleveraging of public and private debt (banks)

Any thoughts?

(please folks, I would like to hear the raw truth, no Bitcoin-bashing or Bitcoin-cheerleading)

Thanks

Armory Ubuntu
by
bitplanet
on 08/03/2014, 17:21:50 UTC
I am having trouble.  Here is what I did:
I installed Ubuntu 12.04 as well as BtcoinQt.  Everything worked fine.

When I installed Armory from https://bitcoinarmory.com/download/building-armory-from-source/ it will not sync with BitcoinQt whether BitcoinQt is opened or not.
Also, no icon for armory will show up on my toolbar.

Why will it not open smoothly or remain on my desktop after closing the terminal?
