I discourage you from buying the source code of a cryptocurrency exchange. Some (deliberately introduced) bugs can be very difficult to discover and may pose huge risks to the security of the funds that are kept on your exchange. Probably not unless large financial institutions start investing in cryptocurrencies, but I highly doubt that that will ever be the case.

What Bitcoin really needs right now (in my opinion) is a decrease in the transaction time and transaction fees. You can help by joining the development team if you have the skills.

Probably not, but it is definitely time to make some improvements (like improving the transaction speed) otherwise its value may decrease significantly in the long run.

Of course, much in the cryptoverse is about FOMO and FUD and social media is ideal to spread it.

I think the current price is pretty reasonable. In my opinion, it's not a bad time to buy right now.

I wonder whether Bittrex is also still 'supporting' the fork. On 7 november they said they would (https://support.bittrex.com/hc/en-us/articles/115002603211-Statement-on-Bitcoin-Segwit2x-hard-fork) and there hasn't been any statement after where they said they no longer will.
