My 2 cents is that there are too many miners who entered the market when doge was booming and are now desperate and have to sell to pay the bills. It's crazy the number of rigs posted on craigslist these days. I think prices will be generally low until the market balances out between the investors putting capital into cryptos and miners pulling it out.

That's a horrible plan op. You would have way better odds if you took the money and bought lottery tickets with it.

I personally think it's impossible right now to predict how the market is going to behave over the next 5 months. It's way too variable especially with the asic about to come on line. I get the sense that a lot of folks got burned calculating their roi when doge was hot and are now dumping everything they mine just to cover costs (or their gear - craigslist is full of gpus for sale).

Checking the code - it looks like the pow stage ends at block 161,280. Which should be the end of the 5th week.

The devs math is a touch off as it will be closer to 200M coins through pow. The next halving will occur very soon so that means ~75% of the minable coins have been mined so far. I believe it takes roughly 20 days from mining until the coins are able to stake so the first pos sgould come next weekend. I can't check the code right now to confirm so I'm going from memory but I'll check when I'm home later. And the 20% is the amount a staked coin will earn I believe in the first year.

If I'm reading the source correctly the halvings occur every 20,160 blocks. Right now we're at block 18,188. So quick math with 30 seconds per block and we are roughly 16 hours away from the first halving.

It seems to me what's screwing a lot of the new coins these days are the mega rigs. A ludicrous 140 mh/s rig just pulled into hashing.to pool. That's almost a quarter of the network and I imagine it's going to be dumping coins as soon as possible.

But you can't use a public database as a way to authenticate someone. That's like using a phone book - "you say you're John Smith of 123 lane, oh yes here you are it must be you." If you do a quick Google on kennitala you'll quickly see that it is not used for authentication.

Love the coin - but I noticed that the icon is the lower right on Win7 (the notification area) is still the old Litecoin one.

Rented from AspireMining for twelve hours and it all went smoothly. Advertised hash rates, stable, what more would you want.

Just finished my first rental and it worked great!

A few comments from a renters perspective (I didn't go through the whole thread so these may have already come up):

1) nice to have a past transactions page. It took me a while this morning to track down who I rented from and how long I had left.

2) can you set up a failover pool? I would be hesitant to rent an expensive rig for a long period without one.

3) an ability for past renters to comment on the rig they rented (and the ability for the owner to respond).

On that last note, I rented from AspireMining and it went smoothly, with advertised hash rates, etc.

Really excellent for such a new site!
