To not to mess up Antonis post, write me a message about the Adress to this hash and hints if there are any, im not doing any attempts if there are no legit hints

Hello.
I received this hash from a client to help me regain access to their bitcoins.

For 2 weeks now, my 10 mining farms have been working on its selection.

This is the public address: 1KTvs    W5tg5gkJf9fy    T2xsvjkv7dzuZNTpW
There is a video of its launch in Bitcoin Core. I can send.

Where did you get it ??
Have you tried guessing the password?
Maybe you want to work with me on it?

I have hints from the owner.

Is there a way to exclude the users that no longer exist? Or a way to have your script still work, even if the user no longer exists, by looking through archives/history?
Interesting little project for the history of the first and most successful crypto so far.  Cheesy

Simply i dont think that the Iter count that bitcoin2john gives is a value probability to conclude that the wallet could be fake, the iteration count is simply the number of how many times the password was hashed.

I have the 11.56 BTC wallet and it gives the same iter count from bitcoin2john that You posted, and the wallet was not fake becouse it was opened.

Just want to use different tools on this wallet but I don't have it.

There is nothing wrong with bitcoin2john, did it occur to you that the wallet is a fake one and the actual real person of the wallet just moved out the tokens? only because the sites that sell it say it is a success story does not mean they're telling you the truth. Have they provided the password with the success story? or just that funds have been moved from it? Do you also believe that the information of passwords are true too? lol I think not.

It is VERY unlikely that multiple wallets contain the same iteration. It could be possible but VERY unlikely.

You can also check out this thread here For more information Fake wallet.dat can trick bitcoin core client?

You can inspect the data of a wallet.dat file using BDB 4.6's db_dump tool

Hi Antoni. Have you got more info about this 'BDB 4.6's db_dump tool' that you speak of?

The following hashes are known to be of the fake files that people have been selling. Steer clear of these ones. Ask a seller to send the hash (without wallet.dat) so you can compare/verify before purchasing any files. There's no reason why they wouldn't be able to send you the hash, because you can't do anything to the funds without a wallet.dat file.

...What I don't understand is why would they give a few of the wallets away for free, while selling the rest? Are the 'free' ones fake or something?

Hello.

They just have a low balance. Those that are sold have a higher balance.

A greeting.

Ahh I see. That makes sense. Cheers  Grin

Hello.

At this address you can download various "wallet.dat" files for free.

https://wallet-dat.net/

Luck.

Thanks for sharing that, much appreciated. What I don't understand is why would they give a few of the wallets away for free, while selling the rest? Are the 'free' ones fake or something?

Got it in 2011, forgot about it until BTC hit 3000 dollars. Spent hours trying to remember the dozen+ character password. Finally overwrote that drive to keep from going mad trying to remember the password as the price of BTC went up.

If you still have the hard drive and it was a 'quick format', it's possible that you could recover the wallet.dat file and we can have a go at cracking it for you Wink

I have the exact same problem that you have resolved. I have used hashcat and extracted the hash string out of my password forgotten bitcoin core wallet.dat file. The extracted hash string is in $bitcoin$64$.........$00 format. I tried to follow your advised method, however it is not working for me. I can give you the hash string, can you please extract the password for me? All i know it is 4+ combination char.

I don't have that much bitcoin in my wallet thus i can compensate you 0.25 bitcoin for your time. Would you please help me?

Thanks.
