But you're right, I should expand a bit:

To ensure I was re-downloading the entire blockchain, I deleted everything in the $HOME/Library/Application Support/Globe/ directory, EXCEPT wallet.dat and globe.conf.

In fact, I took a backup of wallet.dat first (using "File - Backup Wallet"), deleted everything EXCEPT those two files, re-installed v0.4, started it up and let it sync.

Mac client downloaded, installed and fully synced.

Just confirming that the new Mac wallet seems to work well and fixes the syncing problem.

Cryptorush don't have the new wallet installed yet, hence transactions (like mine - I want to take advantage of the high price) aren't getting through.
