These sold for $1000. Just like everything in the marketplace, the market decides the price (taking rarity, edition etc into consideration)
That does not justify a $500 premium. You do realize that there are certain things that are very rare and worth pretty much nothing? I'd like to see an example of 'the market' and other sales of the first edition, because if there was interest and the price was right, at least someone would have put a bid on it.
It is a sellers market when it comes to first edition metal TREZOR's. I can price it at whatever price that I feel comfortable with. If I want to depart with this magnificent piece of BTC history for $500, so be it. Who are you to say what it's worth is?
It is a subjective test. I think 90% of the items sold on bitcointalk are garbage, but that's my opinion. I'm not going to comment on every single thread stating my opinion.
For people who want a metal, well built TREZOR, they have an opportunity to acquire one, as there is no other way (unless one of the other few sellers decide to sell).
Thank you for your opinion, but I respectfully disagree.

Re: [AUCTION][ESCROW] Unopened First Edition Metal TREZOR
Void coins different and rarer than the demo coins
These were coins made for interviews Mike did. These surface very very rarely.... Mintage I really dont know. But its low. I dont know whether that means 1's or 10's. But I have never seen anything stated. I have only ever seen 2 for sale. Missed the first, and traded for the second one
Mike mentioned them on his Wordpress
https://casascius.wordpress.com/2013/05/19/casascius-coin-production-featured-in-the-rise-and-rise-of-bitcoin/ No one has asked this yet, but I am also seen making some coins. As my security policy totally prohibits creating real coins on camera, these coins do not contain real private keys instead the paper shows the word VOID in bold, very clearly, through the window. I call them voidcoins or presscoins, as I allow the photographer to keep one or two of the completed ones if they wish. All such coins are 0.5 BTC denomination.
Thanks for the info! Well done on the sale OP.

Re: [WTS][ESCROW] Unopened First Edition Metal TREZOR
Am I right in thinking this limited edition Trezor was released very recently for $999? Best of luck with the sale, not sure Trezors are that highly regarded to deserve such a huge bump in value
That's correct, only 20 units were available. Due to the limited supply, the attractiveness of a metal TREZOR and it being a 1st edition, I think the price is more than reasonable.
2011 Casascius coins only sold for 1 BTC a piece, yet can demand up to 5 BTC. This is a rare collectors item at a reasonable price.
I think comparing a trezor to a casascius is a bit ambitious. To be honest with you, they are on entirely different wavelengths. If one of the posts above was correct by saying that these were sold at $999 a piece, then a small premium would be understandable. However, doubling the price is a quite a big premium. Nonetheless, it's still a cool item to have. Just my 2 satoshi.
Best of luck with the sale!
My point being that it is a collectors item from BTC's history. I don't intend to get x5 the face value like a Casascius coin, because I agree they would demand a higher premium. The price I am asking is not even x2 the original price...
Well, Casascius didn't sell the Coins for face value either. So for example silver single from 2013 were sold for 2 BTC (+ shipping).
How much of a premium would a Casascius coin with ~20 units available demand? You see there are multiple limbs to assessing a collectors item, and scarcity is one.
Coins are a completely different animal than electronics.
We can argue apples from oranges until the cows come home, it is still a collectors item.

I'm new to monero and I was looking at putting some money into it. Question, what caused the recent price spike? Was the inflation decreased?
