So people are still not able to withdraw from mtgox or is just it takes too long time to withdraw from them? Which one is  it?

now you need to be registered to withdraw BTC.
( there appears to be no official word about this )

Is there proof of this, or is this just rumour mill nonesense, FUD?

Well, it's true in my case. Here's the relevant excerpt from the reply I got from Mt. Gox's support desk, in response to whether I need to be verified to withdraw bitcoins from my account:

Quote
Your account must be verified to perform any withdrawal transactions.

If you would like to continue with the verification process, please provide us the notarised copy sealed with an apostille for the following documents (Please do not forget to provide your account number or username).

Hi folks,

A question about Mt. Gox withdrawals.

I can't find the info on their website now, but I thought verification was only necessary to withdraw cash, not bitcoins.

Mt. Gox is telling me that, in order to withdraw bitcoins,  I need to get my non-English language documents translated and notarized and mailed to Japan.

Does that fir with your understanding of their policy?

Thanks.

Naive question here.

Over the last few days, I've noticed on bitcoinicity that the number of bids/asks on Mt.Gox has become really small, as some other folks on this thread have pointed out.

I don't really know what that means, though. I mean, I guess it means that that's the total number of bitcoins currently for sale/to be purchased. But I've never seen such a small number of available/wanted bitcoins.

Does it mean that we are likely to run out of bitcoins to buy/sell on  Mt. Gox?

And right now there are no bids below $138. Does that mean that unless more bids appear, the price can't drop below $138?

Thanks.

Thanks, fwho.

Even with the delay, it seems strange that this disparity in price can exist. With that price difference, if you were to buy bitcoins from BTC-e and then sell them on Mt.Gox, even with fees you'd still make about a 9.5% profit.

So what seems strange is that enough people aren't taking advantage of it to eliminate the disparity.

Question re. arbitrage between Bitstamp & Mt.Gox

Hi folks,

I see that the bitcoin price on Bitstamp is pretty consistently about two dollars lower than on Mt.Gox.

I guess there must be something I don't understand, since this price difference would seem to make it possible to make money just by buying bitcoins on Bitstamp, transferring them to Mt.Gox, and selling them there. Even taking the brokerage fees on both ends into account, one would still come out ahead by doing this.

If anyone knows, could someone explain what I'm not understanding?

Thanks.

I should have offered more detail in my question....

I see that this question has been addressed here:

https://github.com/bitcoin/bitcoin/issues/2395
https://github.com/bitcoin/bitcoin/issues/2339

But I unfortunately don't know enough about computers to know what to do with the information offered there.

Again, I appreciate folks' interest and patience.

Help: "CWalletDB::ListAccountCreditDebit() : cannot create DB cursor"

Hi folks,

I bought some bitcoins in May 2011, backed up my wallet, deleted the bitcoin software from my computer, and waited.

Now I've reinstalled the software and have reinserted my wallet.dat file, but after going through a lot of the block chains, I get this message:

CWalletDB::ListAccountCreditDebit() : cannot create DB cursor

I'm sure someone's asked this question before, and I've looked around here and elsewhere on the net, but I don't know what to do.

I use Windows.

Thank you very much for your help, and best wishes.
