Re: Will Ripple ever reach $5 ?

Now we have Paypal entering the crypto space and honestly I am not sure why Paypal will not introduce XRP to its 286m worldwide customers.

Ripple CEO Brad Garlinghous said in a article 'no keys, no withdraws' to show his disbelief.

Just in 2nd Quarter Paypal had $220 billion worth of payments being processed.

I will not be surprised if we see introduction of XRP by time of launch next year.

They will add XRP too and why not. It will bring more volume to them. Question is can this move will take XRP price to even more than 1usd? If you remember, in 2017 just coinbase rumor pumped its price but time has been changed. Now those things do not work all the times. XRP need to do something new. Lets see what team has for us in future.

Re: How to fix gas fee and limit in metamask for some duration?

Remember that not all metamask user is using Uniswap or other DEX that needs extreme transaction speed in case of network congestion. The reason why they might not save the gwei is because they are making sure that people will not mistake on using higher fees. If a user want to transfer fund during congestion and want the transaction faster than the default fasted. They will manually adjust the gwei but what if they will send again in normal speed but forgot to change back again the gwei in default? It will cost 20$ ~ 50$ for a normal transaction if the feature that you want implemented.

Point, but i am not asking them to give this option to all users. They can give this option in settings with warning of high gas fee. That is enough for any new person. Even at uniswap if you put more than 5% slippage they give warning so whats the issue?

In addition, it should be implemented on the side of the dapps, in this case, to the Uniswap themselves, it is true that it could incur your fees on normal transactions outside of the uni swap when this feature was added. And what disaster it could get further is that transaction fees on Ethereum will be high as people always choose the option to send the fastest transactions on the main net, as a result, it will be like bidding, the higher the fee, the faster it would be transferred. They have already set the standards for the most efficient way of managing the gas, I think that is enough and it is on our end to adjust.

For you Guys may be it is enough as you are not trading on uniswap that much, but people like me do many transaction daily on uniswap so not good for us.
What is the problem in giving this option in Developer mode or with warning.

This is very good reason Excuse for Govt to ban or put strict regulation on cryptocurrency in India. Already draft is ready and now such activities. Though it has nothing to do with legality because even if it was banned then those terrorists would have sold it to any grey market in India or P2P market. Apart from bitcoin popular route for hawala transaction is drugs and bollywood or benami companies. Bitcoin is just new and our agencies are still learning how it works and how to trace. Local police may not even know how bitcoin works.

Well, metamask already gives the user 3 different gas amount options, fast, faster, and fastest, why did you choose to put it manually ?
Have you tried to choose the 'fastest' gas fee ? We can compare the amount of gas fee on metamask with gastracker in etherscan website.
Till now, i have no problem in using metamask wallet to send eth or tokens.

Sometimes the fastest option of metamask is not enough when you are trading on uniswap. So we have to add some extra GWEI so that miners will quickly process our transactions. It's so that we can beat the queue and get into token asap.

THIS

From 3 months i am using metamask daily for Uniswap and other Dex transactions. Whenever you send transaction it ask you to choose fast/faster/fastest speed options but actually i need to enter more gwei than pre default options so i put gwei manually. Problem is it ask this thing everytime you send any transaction. This irritate me most, choosing gas fee or limit again n again makes my transaction delay and cause me loss in case price fluctuate in next block. Anyone have the solution for this?
Why Metamask team do not even consider this thing as good feature to roll out in their update? It is life saving for me and many Dex traders.

I think metamask helped me to cancel the previous transaction because of the low gas costs, so I can add gas fees by canceling the previous transaction, you won't be able to do that if you use myetherwallet, so I think that feature is good enough for metamask users and you only need to see ethgastation to see and make arrangements for the gas costs needed

its depend on purpose, my purpose is to process transaction faster than others. in slow mode it takes 4-7 blocks which is much more for any trader.

Yes you are right metamask gives 3 options and we can choose fastest, but if you have noticed when congestion increases then metamask get puzzled and even its fastest fee take more than 1 block to process transaction. My main purpose is to process/send my transaction in the next block and i am happy to spend more fee rather than losing on arbitrage opportunity.

2nd problem with their pre-default fee and limit is that during contract interaction it pick 21000 as gas limit or sometimes it pick gas limit in millions. That's annoying as txn get failed. i always put 80-100% more gas limit than expected usage, neither in millions nor too less.

Looking ethgas.info to know more with your gass setting transaction, you must match between ethgass.info and with your gass setting on uniswap or sending your coin in metamask. They will three kinds transaction way, first most faster where you need pay higher fee and you can use starndart with normal fee and using cheapest for lower fee but your transaction take long time for receiving. I use second way when sending coin from metamask, myetherwallet to get lower fees and look faster than third way for sending coin.

I did not ask how to check gas fee to confirm my transaction faster. Obviously i know that and i will not create topic for such common questions. Please read again what i have asked.
In metamask we need to choose gas fee everytime and i want solution for that, i just want to put 2x gas fee of ethgasstation for 2-3 hours. so that i do not need to enter it again and again.

Right here! I always consult gwei and gas price before making a Tx to choose a suitable one. Do not use tools on metamask, it always have low gwei and gas price is too high, it is not suitable if you want to send transactions on ETH blockchain.

you too please check what i asked.

Re: Exchanges are guilty of preventing Bitcoin mass adoption

Agree with some extent but you can not expect any future without Centralized Exchanges.
Plus points - Easy to use, centralized so have someone to help you in compare to DEX, need not to be techie to use it, safer than unknown Dex, reputation can be known, platform for new traders, marketing of projects, tier 1 exchanges list reputed projects and chances of exit scams are less, rare rug pull in compare to Dex.
Minus points - No security, wash trading, shady supply, insider trading, favoring listed tokens, shady projects in name of IEO, No good market maker, All of sudden suspend deposit and withdrawal, Support system not so good, intentional delay on deposit of tokens to kill arbitrage, controlling market even BTC.

So now you need to decided how you balance CEX and DEX usage. Exchanges are also here for making money so manipulation will be there, it happens in traditional stock market too at large scale. Just i want them to be more secure and prevent hack.

this is a very funny question. ripple has very high supply value. the amount in circulation is increasing day by day. maybe it will not even reach the highest value. but it will never see $ 5.

Supply logic is totally valid but in crypto market i have seen good projects with low supply could not pump after one bull, but extreme high cap coins getting pumped in a cycle. Also we know reason behind this, it is controlled by some big hodlers whom we call whales. Ripple right now is totally silent but once market will start pumping random coins on alternate days (like 2017) ripple also will show good increase. PS - I dont like XRP but cant deny fact crypto market can be manipulated easily and always expect the unexpected.

usecase of ripple was - instant, cross border, tradable with other fiat, remittance etc. When it was launched there was no other better option than ripple to serve these purpose. But today it is outdated because of so many better options to serve even more purposes at lower fee and faster speed without any shady supply. Also there are stable coins too.
So if talks about utility then it is no more useful unless some bank takeover RIPPLE foundation.
But yes price can be increases because of manipulation and whales holding this tokens since long and right now just increasing their portfolio. so it is possible to reach 5$.

Re: Risk attached with approve transaction on DAPP and DEX like uniswap
by
boss1dg
on 21/10/2020, 13:40:31 UTC
Our wallet address needs to be connected to the exchange in order to make transactions and that requires our approval, I don't think you need to worry too much because our wallets are not always automatically connected

When you do trade on uniswap it sends 2 txn, 1 for approval and another for swap EXCEPT if we swap ether because ether need not approval thus it is safe as it need one txn only. Metamask connected or disconnected, it has no role after sending approval txn.

yes you say, but it needs to be emphasized that the agreement is not a swap agreement, not a transfer agreement at will without us agreeing to it, it still needs a second agreement to be done, and when we close the browser, the connection will automatically be lost?

You are right it is not swap txn where we chose what we need in return in exchange of usdt.
But it is withdrawal approval txn where we allow that address to withdraw that much token from our wallet. What we assume is it execute only if we send swap txn but no. Approval itself means that contract can withdraw that much usdt. In normal case we allow it via 2nd txn but in case of bug or hack, hacker would not send tokens in return, they just withdraw usdt. read article.

Re: Binance: $BNB The Future of Exchanges.
by
boss1dg
on 17/10/2020, 16:45:43 UTC
Mostly we have opinion that exchange tokens are worth nothing except raising funds for exchange and in return discount on trading fee which truly dont need token.
But Binance and CZ changed this thinking. BNB usecase completely changed in last few years. They brought Binance chain with bnb as fee. Though Binance Dex could not become more popular but such a low fee for transferring most of tokens was really good idea.
Then we see Binance Smart chain where we can use BNB as ether and access all features and security of ethereum network at almost 0 fee.
Using BNB for launchpad or farming other tokens in launchpool.
Using BNB as payment for many website like traval.com
AND MANY MORE USECASE

I don't see any reason to say its future is not bright like its present. Unless we see binance getting hacked. Hope it never happens.

by fake you means creating copy of bitcoin or spending same coin more than once.
I bitcoin network once you send a transaction it takes some time to process, so suppose you send 2-3 transaction of 1 btc while your balance is just 1 btc only. Then any random node will process one and reject others. Similarly all other nodes will remove all those from their memory. So mathematically it is no possible to copy the transaction which we call as double spend.

Regarding supply, it has fixed supply and codes are publicly shown. So it is the currency which has no printer like native currency of many countries.

Re: How would you promote bitcoin if you were Jack Dorsey (twitter's big boss)?
by

As an individual person I would have twitted about bitcoin, its uses to my followers and informed audience why today we need decentralized system completely out of control of banks and money printing mafia. I would write a article per month or once in 2 months. However interfering it with twitter is not that easy, twitter need to follow law of land and still btc is banned in many countries. Also morally it should not be right to use twitter for my personal opinion unless board decide to do it.
Anyway Jack is already doing many things for crypto adoption, recently square capital invested millions in it.

Re: Beware of Increasingly Sophisticated Malware Infection Attempts

In the past months, malware infection attempts on this forum has become increasingly sophisticated. Below is a summary of infection techniques that I have encountered. With the most sophisticated attacks, common sense and virus scans is no longer sufficient to ensure safety ................

Liked your thread for alarming community. But still main question comes how to prevent such attacks? This forum have many experts obviously, hope they tell us what is perfect solution or atleast one of the best way to be safe.
One option is keep separate system for crypto and financial tasks.
another option is using VM for browsing and downloading.
MWB is good but i think it cant stop latest attacks.
Also even if you have separate system for trading then too you need to browse exchanges or DEX website for trading, once internet is there we open scope for attacks too.

How to keep your home computer malware free.

How could it happen?
Clicking a link or attachment in email.
Visiting a website that has malware installed. Depending on your browser settings and what plug-ins you have installed (Flash, Java, Acrobat Reader) malicious software could be installed on your computer without out you knowledge.

What could happen?
You could loose all the data on your computer.
All the data on your computer could be held for ransom.
Your computer could be used to commit crimes.
Your personal information could be stolen.
Someone could access all of your accounts.
Someone could log everything you type.
Someone could access all the files on your computer.

Prevention
Update your operating system and third party applications.
http://secunia.com/vulnerability_scanning/personal/

Disable auto run for Plug-Ins
In Google Chrome navigate to chrome://settings/content.
Under Plug-ins select Click to play.
You can add exceptions by going to chrome://settings/content, Plug-ins, and clicking "Manage exceptions..."

Use a DNS server that blocks known malicious sites
Symantec https://dns.norton.com/
Comodo https://www.comodo.com/secure-dns/

Use Windows Defender on Windows 8 or Microsoft Security Essentials on Windows 7
They are free and affective.

Buy and install MalwareBytes Premium and Malware Bytes Anti-Exploit Premium ($25 Each)

Be suspicious about links and attachments in emails. Don't click them.

Backup your data
Use BitTorrent Sync to sync your data with another computer.
Use and application like Acronis TruImage to make a scheduled backup to an external drive. Get two external drives and rotate them regularly. Keep one copy at a different location.
Use a cloud based backup service like Carbonite, Crashplan or Backblaze.

Consider replacing your current router with with a UTM (Unified Threat Management) firewall that has security software built in. Note that most of these are relatively expensive and require ongoing subscriptions.
Example http://www.asus.com/support/FAQ/1008719/

Be careful with remote access to your PC
Don't use VNC to remotely access your PC. Passwords are easily brute forced via automated scanning scripts. For best security consider two-factor authentication.

Thanks for detailed post on preventing ourself from such attacks. Still want to ask what if even after this they can attack our system?
