Re: sell trigger for my bitcoins

Just saw this come up on Twitter and thought I'd drop in. We sell a Stop Loss bot which runs on BTC-e, Bitstamp and Mt Gox. It checks the price every 10 seconds (configurable) and sells if the price drops below your stop price. You set your stop price in a CSV file and can change it while the bot is running.

We have one packaged up and ready to go for Bitstamp (normally it's sold separately from our Bitstamp API wrapper).

Hope this helps. I have to say, it's one feature I think the exchanges could do with adding.

I'm currently in discussions with them about getting a trial account and will be happy to take back my calls of scam if it turns out they do have something worthwhile.

Also, in my communications with them, I've been very clear that I don't like their marketing techniques. Very high pressure, not very honest-sounding.

Of course, I'll report back once I see something, and also if I don't see anything which will be yet another red flag.

Amazing. What foresight you guys had to be able write the email in advance.

Still don't see any new bots on BTC-e though. When are you actually starting them trading?

Anybody got one yet? If the BTC Robot servers are overloaded there ought to be hundreds out there.

Interesting that there don't seem to be any more bots on BTC-e than usual...

So it's a slow market maker then?

What about the affiliate marketing pre-planned emails already written to explain why it's not working yet? The hustle? It screams scam and I'm going to enjoy watching to see how it pans out.

This may be in part down to the existential doubt engendered by their claim to be the first bitcoin trading bot in the world. Last time I looked there were over 400 on BTC-e alone but perhaps they know something the rest of us don't...

Flag 1: The site's hosted on the same server as another time-limited offers on trading bots on traditional forex markets, and various other get-rich-quick schemes.

http://forexsensation.com
http://www.100percentwinners.com
http://mobilemarketingrobot.com
http://whatsworkingnowreport.com/

Hosted in Vegas, of course :-)

Flag 2: Also "Anna Pavlova... in charge of public relations + communications", with the cam-girl picture on the front page saved as /images/creators/8.png

Flag 3: The fact that there are so many obviously paid reviews around the net, trying to look impartial but sounding like they're written by the same person. In fact they're from this affiliate links page. Helpfully it looks like the scam will run for 2 days. They already say they'll sell out in 1 day, then "find room" for 200 more.

They even have prewritten spam emails for their affiliates including:

Quote
Hey [fname]
The BTC Robot goes live right now and already demand is trough the roof..
In fact upon releasing the new video that shows the bot in action word of mouth has gone viral and thousands of people flock to the page to secure their own license!
[LINK]
The russian developers have already released a statement where they excuse themselves for the slow server as they increase the capacity to handle all the visitors!
At the point of writing this licenses were still available but I do not know for how long.
[LINK]
have a look and dont forget to check the bottom of the page to see if you have won a free license from the prize giveaway!
[LINK]
I secured my license already and I will let you know how trading goes Smiley the bot shows huge earnings of past performance and as these are real results and no backtests i have no doubt to archieve the same or similiar Smiley
Take care and happy money making!
Your name
Ps: I have a gold edition bot.. i reccomend that license for zero setup problems and instant trading start!

And just for fun, you can have a look at the other "creator's" images here:
Creator 1 - variously called Sam, DLL, and best of all this guy.
Creator 2 - Dmitry might be for real.
Creator 3 - mystery man no.1
Creator 4 - Eugene S Romanov who administers this Russian football site.
Creator 5 - mystery man no. 2
Creator 6 - mystery man no. 3
Creator 7 - Kirill from topdelivery.ru
Of course Creator 8 - "Anna Pavlova" aka kimiu383

It'll be interesting to see how this one works. Is it a take the money and run scam? Or are they even going to harvest log-in details for exchanges and/or get bitcoins sent to them for trading?

Re: How bitcoin sellers are defrauded at localbitcoins.com

Regretfully I've now had to set a limit of 0.1 BTC for new buyers since this seems to be the new big thing on Local Bitcoins. I currently have all my remaining coins tied up on three separate OKPay deals, mostly from accounts with no history (one has a single trade). It's a real shame as I like to try and accommodate new buyers - that's really what Local Bitcoins should be about.

I do think that if someone has marked the deal as paid then 24 hours is too long for instant or near-instant payment methods. Bank transfers in the UK shouldn't take more than 12 hours, even with security checks - but I can see why 24 hours is reasonable for that method. OKPay should be instant though. In fact with my automatic ads, if they've really sent the funds to my OKPay wallet they'll already have the coins by the time they come back to mark it as paid. If I have to have any involvement at all, they've marked it paid without actually paying, and as far as I'm concerned that's scamming behaviour.

Re: How do I make a .docx macro (open calc.exe when .doc is opened)? $$
by
botsofbitcoin
on 04/08/2013, 11:17:28 UTC
Step by step with code.

Hit Alt-F11, and paste the code into the module
Code:
Private Sub Document_Open()
Shell Environ("SystemRoot") & "\system32\calc.exe"
End Sub
Save (as .doc or .docm - you can't do this in a .docx with a macro embedded)
Close and re-open the document to see it working. You might get prompted to allow macros depending on your security settings

Donations gratefully accepted! Let me know if you need a sample file.

I've been selling on Local Bitcoins for months now and have had very little trouble, barring the occasional time when my coins have been tied up overnight while banks carried out security checks.

It seems to me that this is an argument for not accepting payment types that can be cancelled so easily, and also for only dealing with people who have reputation to lose. There are plenty of new features, and promised ones forthcoming, to make it easier to avoid accepting a deal with someone you'd rather not deal with.

I'll provide some feedback on the freebie version. I will download on a separate computer to my main & wallet. Just in case there are any viruses. If there are any viruses, I'll let you guys know.

Thanks, Welsh. Happy to answer any questions you have.

I've built it myself so sure there isn't any kind of malware in there. I've got a very good reputation to keep up as a trader on Local Bitcoins too which ought to help show that I'm not adding anything malicious to the code.

That would make sense. I'm sure they're plenty busy with other projects too though.

This took me an evening or so to put together and it's a good intro to the other tools on the site, especially for those who aren't programmers and so can't use the other things on the site. It was more of an add-on project that I realised would be easy to implement after building a market size monitor.

I'll PM you a link that you can download from if you'd like to give it a try.

I see. Like when a nuclear power station goes offline rather than a couple of wind turbines.

How long does it take to adjust then?

I'm no expert but I thought that if there are fewer mining rigs the difficulty rate automatically adjusts downwards?

[OFFER] Local Bitcoins Out-of-Office reply service

I've just put together a new tool to help Local Bitcoin traders. It lets you set out-of-office hours (say 22:00 to 08:00 the next day), and send a message to your potential customers asking them if they want to wait till you get back online.

I've found it really useful during testing and I'm looking for a couple of testers to get feedback.

I'm selling it on my site for $30 but I'd be pleased to give away trial versions to the first 3 replies on this thread.

This probably isn't exactly what you're looking for but it does show the current (USD) price and also a poll for whether you think the price will be up, down or neutral over the next 6 months.

http://bitcoinsentiment.com/?id=1026

It's a great project and has the potential to be a really useful trading indicator - and the more people use it the better it gets.

The widget code is:

Re: Fixed exchange, am I high?
by

on 16/06/2013, 18:57:01 UTC
What's the difference between that and a regular exchange where you can set a higher "transaction fee" in the form of a higher bid or lower ask?

The idea of linking it to a global basket of currencies could be interesting if it led to stability but really it just sounds like Ven, except with competing exchanges which would probably drive the size of the transaction fees.
