Re: Progress bar gone?
by

While it's just downloading blocks, it's connected to a ip address from a 'Running Bitcoin Nodes by Region (United States)' site.
connect=

It's the only way I know to prevent all the duplicate block errors?

So it seems if it doesn't use the block # from the connection;
'receive version message: version 70001, blocks=234100,'
and the default # is less than the current highest, then the progress bar isn't displayed.

Old blk0001.dat, 2, 3 left over from v0.7.?
by
brubits
on 01/05/2013, 13:43:30 UTC
In the data path, I have files blk0001.dat 2 & 3 and blkindex.dat
all with date/time stamps of before I upgraded to v0.8.1
and it's data looks like it's all in a sub folder \blocks\  all have date/times of after I upgraded.

They're taking up 6gb of HD space, so if they're not needed for v0.8, it shouldn't matter if they're deleted?

That could mean that your client is fully synchronized with the network. If so, you should see a green checkmark on the lower right.

It's still have 35 days of blocks to DL...

The [synchronizing with network] progress bar is now missing?

It looked like this until sometime yesterday:

Now it's all blank except for the indicators on the far right,
because it's over block 228000 now?

Re: Transaction sent 12 hours ago still nothing on blockchain.info?

Are you saying they are being broadcast to the network before it has reached sync?  If so, is this from the Bitcoin-Qt or sent via API with bitcoind?

My last 3 send btc transactions have yet to be confirmed in the Bitcoin-Qt because it's last received block was generated 37 days ago.

They can all be found on blockchain.info

it rebroadcasts automatically if it's unconfirmed for long periods of time.

I see that it has in the log file, And it's showing up on blockinfo now.

I guess that's one reason to be sync before sending btc.

These:

ResendWalletTransactions()
started showing up in the .log after 5 days.

down to '51 days ago' for last received block... /making progress...

So my transaction was never broadcasted, or if/where it went it was ignored for some reason?

Is there no way to 'rebroadcast'?

~# blocks remaining doubles then drops?
by
brubits

[If there's a way to attach images, I'd post screen shots.?]

Today (and other days) the blocks remaining jumps from ~6800 to ~14500,
and now it's at ~6100.

The last;
receive version message: version 70001, blocks=233433
from debug.log
but on the status shows ' of 225430 blocks of transaction history'

Something wrong or just normal?

With ~15,400 blocks remaining / 92 days, it'll be a few weeks until it's close to being in sync.

Or only ~7500 blocks, it jumped up to the 15k number only for a little while today,

stop using 0.7.2, use 0.8 (it has faster sync time). or use a lite client.

I upgraded to 0.8 about 3 weeks ago, and my balance went to 0, as all of last years received transactions changed to unconfirmed and it started DL blocks from a year ago.  Finally enough blocks were DL'd that I had a balance and when I sent it, it went into the twilight-zone.

If you are claiming that v0.7.x broadcast a transaction without being in sync, I'm not sure why that would be.

But this is really a moot point.  Let the client sync and then your problem is resolved (or at least if there is still a problem, such as no connectivity, this can be properly diagnosed).

I sent two transactions via the out of sync v0.7.x, then I saw there was an update.
After updating, nothing but problems.

With ~15,400 blocks remaining / 92 days, it'll be a few weeks until it's close to being in sync.

The client will not broadcast a transaction until it syncs.

Is that something different that in the version 0.7.2 ?

The prior transactions sent by the version 0.7.2 worked (just before I upgraded), can be seen on blockchain.info, but haven't been confirmed in the client.

... UNDO button will reduce average time spent.

If (during the waiting time)
a viewer could upgrade their prize, for a better prize,
they might spend More time going after the better prizes.?

vs no time while waiting...

A mutex have been implemented in the prize displaying script. Now you guaranteedly will receive the same prize that was displayed on the image.

Feel free to report if problem still persist.

That's great, good job!

Where's the BNS?
by
brubits
on 22/10/2012, 15:37:59 UTC
Similar to the DNS system, users would register 'text' to their Btc address,
BTC software would do a lookup with the 'text' for an address,
if found, send the amount to the btc address...?

There's a openbns.com
just for email,

why not phone#, nic-names, names, domain.names, anythangs?

Also you can check it in the Payments page.

Yes, that's where I saw that in the .003 example (October 21, 2012, 15:22 UTC-5),
the payments page shows .00005,

Could it be something with Firefox an going to a wallet program to copy my address from?

On October 21, 2012, 16:35 UTC-5 today, what I saw was what I got,)
but I copied the address from a notepad text file.
