Just to post an update, my unit has been running for 10 days straight. Hashing at Eligius using 1,000w EVGA on two boards, and 650w EVGA on one board and controller. Just using stock speeds, have not tried overclocking.

Got one up and running for two hours. It has EVGA Gold 1000 on two boards and EVGA Gold 650 on one board and controller.

Getting 4,845 on default 600
Temperatures are 50,50,51
Fans are 4,080 and 3,960
HW is .0065%
Drawing 1,271 watts from wall
I am mining on Eligius.

I have it in the same room with several S5's and I don't think its really any louder. It just has a lower pitch noise then the S5.

I always FedEx my shipments from Bitmain.  The thing arrives in 3 days from half way around the world with zero issues.  Course I haven't had the thrill of being spot checked by customs, but that's a risk everyone takes.

+1! I've had good experiences with FedEx too.

My first S7 order was exactly like this. Took 3 days and was delivered before 10:30 AM, just as FedEx said it would. No delays and no drama.

Of course carriers are like hard drives manufacturers. Everyone has a different favorite because of personal experience.

What a great analogy!!! I used to love IBM harddrives back in the day. Bought them for all the computers and servers. Then IBM released the Deathstar 75 series, lol. After experiencing 10+ failures with those harddrives I never bought another IBM harddrive, or Hitachi after they bought IBM harddrive division.  Mostly just use Seagates now.

They have to much time on their hands if they are x-raying miners.   Seems like opening a box or two should confirm it.

I really don't like my local DHL.   It's the service I avoid.    But some claim they work great for them.

I have used DHL on my S3+, S4, and S5 purchases, all have arrived without any issue. I personally use FedEx for all the other shipping I do. I cannot be upset that customs wanted to check out my package. Regardless, it is now in Miami and out for delivery Smiley

My order was supposed to arrive today via DHL, but it was held up today at customs.  Spoke to DHL and they say customs wanted to x-ray the package before it was cleared. Delivery is now scheduled for tommorrow.....

I placed my order on day one 8/30 and paid via wire. I got confirmation email from Bitmain being paid on 9/1.  The site still shows my order as unshipped, and I have not received any emails about it either.
Update, I got an email last night with my DHL tracking info; arrives on Thursday. I did not order a PSU, so it can only be the S7.

Chelsea maybe having a horrible start to the year, but you are still in the premier league. I am a Fulham fan and we got relegated to Championship league two years ago Sad

I don't understand why people say this is not a hobby. I started making PC hashing rigs couple years ago. I had fun building the cases to hold six video cards. Then tweaking all the configs to get the best results. I got up to three rigs running before I started selling off parts. I used money I made from selling off computer parts and the LTC I earned to buy ASIC devices. I used to keep track to see how much profit I made, but got tired of doing that; that is not the fun part of this hobby.

I used the PSU's from the computer rigs to power the ASIC's. At this point I am definitely in the profitable range, but its not like i am getting rich doing this. It is a hobby and I really enjoy it. I have ordered one S7 and looking forward to playing with it too Smiley

I do have to admit I feel a bit stupid not knowing that PSU could have a built in filter. All my miners run off EVGA gold PSU's, mostly 1,300 and 1,000 watt units. I just looked them up on the EVGA site and all my PSU's have:

"Heavy-duty protections, including OVP (Over Voltage Protection), UVP (Under Voltage Protection), OCP (Over Current Protection), OPP (Over Power Protection), and SCP (Short Circuit Protection)"

So I guess having everything plugged into a surge protector is not really doing much. After doing some research on the double conversion UPS units you mentioned, it seems the only ones big enough to handle the type of wattage i am using will cost $2,000-$1,500.  Unfortunately i cannot afford to buy one of those for each circuit i am running my miners on Sad   Hell I would need one for each of the S7's i just bought, that's basically doubling the price of each miner, lol.

I do have a couple Monster MP HTS3600 MKII. I used those on my home theater gear, would they be of any benefit to mining? I really don't see how they would be any different for mining than a regular surge protector.

I am curious as to what everybody uses out there for surge protection on their minors.  I used some monster green power surge protectors when I was doing GPU mining. Unfortunately a couple of those burnt out and I had to use some old ones instead. I have been using those same old surge protectors and monster ones that did not fry on my ASIC minors.  I just ordered some S7's and figured I would get some new surge protectors for those and my S5's.

I just ordered some Tripp Lite surge protectors and I hope they do the trick.  Has anyone use these before?

I would love to hear what other people are using out there with good results.

Bitfury makes their miners for data centers. Almost no one in US can use those miners because of the power draw, just like the S5+. That is why I like Bitmain so much, they create miners that the home user can actually run. To bad Bitfury does not make two different models, one for home users and one for data centers. Competition makes companies improve faster and reduces prices for public Smiley

I see some people are trying to figure out how many units were sold in batch 1 so far. I am sure most people are using bitcoin to buy the units, but i paid via wire. So anyone else that paid with fiat money will not be showing up in the bitcoin wallet totals.

May I remind you of something called "HALVING" before going crazy on a purchasing spree?

That is a million years away.  By the time halving arrives, each and every S7 will have long been tossed in the bin.  Miner lifetime is far shorter than that.

Why would no one be running S7's when halving occurs next year?  I still got all my S3's hashing away. Just cannot bring myself to turn them off. I am still getting 2.7TH out of those old units.

I am not an electrician. Can somebody please tell me if I can run one of these on a standard outlet for an apartment in the USA? I would buy the power supply that bitmain sells.

Yes. It only uses around 12 amps I believe. Most U.S. circuits are at least 15 amps, and yours are probably 20 amps. As long as you don't have a bunch of other things plugged in on the same circuit you should be fine.

Normal circuits in US homes will be 15 amp breakers. Which can take peak power pulls of 1,800 watts (120v x 15amp = 1,800 watts).  However breakers are rated to hold a constant power draw of 80%, which is only continuous 1,440 watts. So you could run a S7 on your regular outlet, but i would highly advice not to have anything else plugged into that circuit. Remember, each circuit will usually have several plugs attached to it. So you might want to do some testing of plugs while turning off breakers to determine which plugs are connected to each breaker.

If you have a 20 amp breaker, It can peak at 2,400 watts (120v x 20amp = 2,400watts). Keep in mind that you should only continuously use 80% of that, which is 1,920 watts. Lets all make sure to practice safety when mining, we don't want any burnt down houses for a few bitcoins!!!!!

Looks like batch one of the S5+ might be officially sold out, i know day one it was greyed out but it came back up a couple hours later.

Also looks like the used S5 batch might be sold out, it has been greyed out since early this morning.

They tend to grey out stuff while they're adjusting their posted "bitcoin price =".

Both are still greyed out and states sold out.

I have two Antminer S3 that are both hashing at 440GBs. They both are running at the stock frequency of 218.75 but one if the miners has 20% HW errors. I have read many people are lowering the frequency to 215 or 212.75 to lower power consumption. I was hoping maybe reducing the frequency might help my HW errors. However I cannot find where to lower the frequency. I have done scrypt mining, but this is my first sha256 mining. If someone could help explain to me how to lower the frequency I would greatly appreciate it.

Underclocking early without having a solid reason will only lower your earning potential.
Are you sure you calculated your HW error % properly?
Post an image of your Miner Stats page.

I now have it underclocked so I cannot take a screenshot. But it had been running for almost two days. The accepts were 65,000 and the HW was in the 14,000.  It has now been running over 2 hours on 212.5 and accepts are 3,774 and HW are 370. So the current HW is at 9%.

The other miner which is still at 218.75 has 71,068 accepts and only 2,049 HW; only 2% HW.

Thanks jpchrist, thats exactly what I was looking for. I had read through this entire 200+ page thread and only saw people say they were doing it, but not how. It was pretty easy and I lowered down to 212.5 and the HW errors dropped from +20% down to 8% and I only lost 20GHs. It must be some hardware issue with this miner, as my other one runs at 218.75 and has 2% HW errors. But I can work with 8%, much better than it was before.

Oh side note, the S3 that is mining fine was from www.bitmainantminer.com  I saw many posts that they were a scam and to cancel your order, blah blah blah. I figured if they didn't send it I could always dispute it on my credit card. However it arrived as promised and works great.
