Are your breakers warm or hot to touch ?
by

All my breakers get warm/hot to touch

24A @ 240V on a 30A breaker (single phase)

21A @ 208V on a 30A breaker (3 phase)

Both are continous load and on 80%. But they sure do get warm to hot sometimes.

Re: Brand new S9... 1 board..1/2 chain DOA any suggestions

This just happened to me, miner was hashing at 9.5 TH/s and one of the small red LED light on the board was not lit.

 The troubleshooting sequence was

1. Unplug all sockets from PSU to S9 and replug them in making sure they are tight.
2. Try another PSU
3. Reset the S9 and re-load firmware

None of it worked. So had to create a repair ticket and sent it to Cali for repairs. The complete unit for S9 needs to be returned for warranty repairs. Bitmain also stated that it will take a week to repair.

Warranty steps were pretty straightforward.

Hopefully I will get it back soon.!

Most of their fixed cost and suppliers must be paid in fiat, probably RMB and USD.

How would they be cashing out ?

Re: Name this PDU... PDU help

Hey peeps, can anybody identify what kind of PDUs are used in this farm?

Also, I'm buying 30 AMP pdu's for my farm, link below. I've calculated I can only run 3x antminer S9's on this (230V input power), if I try to run 4 I think i'll trip the internal PDU breaker (set at 24 amps). Am I right? I'd like to get 4 Antminers / PDU if possible, any ideas based on my 230V input?

Link to the PDU's i'm specing: https://www.cyberpowersystems.com/product/pdu/pdu30bhvt8r/

i am able to run 4 on single phase 245V , amps range from 23.5 to 24.5 for 4x S9 14.0T

my other location runs on 3 phase 208V , amp ranges from 20 - 21.5 for 3x S9 13.5T

the 30A breakers do get quite hot.

Re: Installing 10x dedicated 50amp outlets - $8000 reasonable ?

I'd price out what the supplies cost.

10x - Solid #8 or #6 x 3 wires per outlet @ 20 feet per wire
10x - 50 amp breakers
150-175 feet of EMT
10x - 2 gang electrical boxes.

That's the material list or close?  Price it out at Home Depot.  I think you're way over 500 in materials.  But not 1000s off..

Then you'll know what you're paying for his time.

Also, get at least 3 quotes.

I got the boxes. But will price out the rest on lowes

Cart Summary
Subtotal:   $655.36
Buy 10, Get 10% off   -$7.96
Buy 3, Get 5% Off   -$4.89
Estimated Taxes: ?   $66.82
Estimated Total:   $709.33

The electrican actually messaged me back today and offered to do it for $6000.

I need to get more quotes

Maybe he's trying to take advantage of you because he thinks your a high roller (and maybe you are).

But business is business.  Make him an offer of time and materials, not to exceed $2500, if he can have the work completed by the close of business on Tuesday.  Tell him you've received other quotes that are lower than that number but they can't do the work for 2 weeks or something.

I asked for an itemized breakdown and he just didnt answer back - got more quotes lined up for next week

This is interesting, how exactly does buying from a energy trader work?

And what's is the usually minimum quantity required?

You arent specifically buying from an energy trader himself, you basically use him as a consultant to find out where you can buy power direct, and you can have him help with the negotiation process. Minimum power requirements vary by company but you can usually buy in megawatt 'blocks'. The energy trader is the guy that will have all of these answers for you.

Thanks .That was helpful

When looking for new buildings, I always look for the maximum amount of existing infrastructure I can leverage. Old industrial sites and places that had/have heavy machinery are the sites I would focus on. Due to the electrical demand, sites like this almost always have a substation right next to them, then its all about power delivery. Buying directly from the provider is usually a bad idea, for the kind of power you are looking for you should contact an energy trader local to the area to see what options you have when it comes to buying the power.

That sounds super high. Especially if the panel is already in place and they are just going straight up.

I would bring in a few different electricians and get quotes from them.

Also you should ask for an itemized break down in the quote so you can at least keep them a little honest.

yes, panel is already in place. Just installing breakers, wiring, conduits and outlets, will ask for a breakdown

heres a pic of the space, outlets are just going to be installed right outside the small breaker box room

Installing 10x dedicated 50amp outlets - $8000 reasonable ?
by

I need to get this done at a new location in WA. This was a quote from my first electrician. The outlets are installed within 10-15 feet from the breaker box. Electrician provides conduits, wiring, breakers and labor. I bought the outlets and outlet boxes myself

Job Description: $7,350.00 + sales tax = $8000

Provide labor and materials to install (10) dedicated 50 amp circuits to the upstairs space from the
panel to dedicated outlets. All work will be in 3/4 inch and 1/2 EMT surface mounted to the sheet
rock. Owner will provide the outlets.

has anyone done something similar at this price ? or should i continue shopping around ? $8000 seems a tad high considering parts would not even reach $500

Thanks!!

I was in the same situation , maybe you can keep looking and can find somewhere that has a better ventilation set up

I managed to find a place that has windows and all I need to do is put huge exhaust and intake fans at the windows

The single garage door set up is pretty hard to cool well unless you start punching holes in the side wall or ceiling
