Re: Bitcoin Businesses and Developers, Let's Get Started!

I posted a similar introduction of my intended business in the newbie intro section, so here we go:

I'm looking at creating a legal beer delivery service in major Canadian cities, subject to each city/province's liquor laws. The sole currency of the business would be bitcoin. I'm a newbie to running my own physical business, but I have funds I can put into this as my day job pays well. I'm looking for Canadian business partners, willing couriers in major cities, and anyone else who wants to come along for the ride.

I've been around the forums for a while now, only recently found I couldn't post in the main forums anymore so I'm looking for ways to get whitelisted.

Yo, I'm me. Originally I came up with this handle to separate my bitcoin identity from other net identities but it took on a life of its own, and now I'm trying to work out a beer delivery service in major Canadian cities where payment is solely made in bitcoins. Thanks a lot, bitcoins, now I have no free time again, lol.

I've been lurking the scene for a while, now I discovered that I've been newbiefied and I guess this is my ticket outta here.

I'm curious as to how serious you are about this. How much money do you plan to invest in this?

I'm pretty serious about it, but as it stands I'm a newbie to running a full blown business like this. I have a full time day job that gives me lots of funds to dump into this, but I'm looking for business partners, couriers in the major cities, etc.

I'm willing to invest as much as it takes, honestly. I really want to make something bitcoin-related that interests me as a person, and beer interests me, heh heh.

I'm running into a problem on OC1.5 and I'm wondering if it's my own stupidity or if the extension just isn't compatible with 1.5 yet.

Code:
Fatal error: Cannot access private property Document::$title in /blah/blah/blah/admin/controller/payment/btc_mybitcoin.php on line 35

That line reads:
Code:
$this->document->title = $this->language->get('heading_title');

Whee, so now I've used both aspects of the system.

I deposited money via an online bill payment, that went through within 24hrs and they were so pleasant as to email me when they received it.

Next I placed a buy at $20 and waited. Couple days later, voila, someone filled my order. Now to actually "play" the market.

This is awesome for us Canadians! Fast turnaround and great service!

It's a good thing you mentioned all that stuff, then. Hopefully they can secure the site a bit more. I'm sure they're still working out all the details of what's required to operate a "legal" exchange in Canada.

Well, I bid and won a tshirt, yippee.

Now I'm just waiting for the status to change from unpaid to paid since I paid this morning and it has like 20 confirmations now. Is the "status" of payments handled manually?

How does the buyer protection work?

For instance, there's an iPad 2 up for sale right now with a min-bid of 5btc. At the current exchange rate, that's a really cheap iPad 2. If the auction closes and the exchange rate doesn't fluctuate enough for that person to make as much of a profit as they were probably hoping, what's their incentive to follow through?

Is it simply an escrow mechanism so they won't receive my btc until I approve it, or something else?

(I'm very tempted to start bidding on the serious items, but I don't want to get scammed and this sort of thing is prone to that.)
