Trying to mine bitcoins solo running 30mh/s, at today's difficulty, is totally futile.  You'll never get anything out of it.  At that hashrate, you can try to join a pool and maybe earn 0.0005 BTC per day.

Try to get paid in BTC for your own services.  What do you do for a living?  Can you offer it privately for BTC?

Yes, "the bitcoin" will easily reach $1000 one day.  I followed the gold markets from the early 2000's to today, watching it go from ~$200 up to almost $2000 back down to $1300 today.  I strongly believe bitcoin will follow a similar trajectory, only faster.  I see $1000 bitcoins no less than 2 years from now.

Definitely LTC right now. After Gox adopts it, LTC will easily double and probably triple.
