I read somewhere that if it gets above 76  it may shut down or enter a protection mode and ramp up the fans to full speed.
My operation eco mode is below 70.  normal is 70-72.  fast is 72 to 74 with much higher fan speed.  room temp is around 78 Fahrenheit .
I cant run turbo with room temp above 72F.

if you have high temp issues, Have you shut down and cleaned the fan and box recently?   I get the air compressor out and blow air back through the apollo to blow all the fine dust out of it outside. lots of dust comes out, then my temp drops when I restart.  In eco mode I am not collecting as much dust with quiet slow fan speeds.

No problems. I run both on Turbo full time and on a warmer days I'll see 80c with no degradation in performance.  I couldn't find any info on the Futurebit site, so I was just wondering.

80c is the max, thermal shutdown is a few degrees above that

FYI if you are running in turbo with those temps make sure you check your power cord and see if it's getting hot. We are issuing a recall for all remaining early units (ordered Nov-Dec 23) to replace faulty power switches, which can cause this issue in turbo mode.

Thanks for that info! My first unit has had the switch replaced, so can I assume that the replacement switch that Futurebit sent is the good batch?  My 2nd unit was purchase within the last year, so I assume it's  good.  Power cords are not hot on either.

What is FutureBits' stance on the OP_RETURN debate? Would you give us an option to switch to Knots instead of Core for the node? And being able to filter out spam? I know it's an older version of Core right now but it's going to be updated eventually right?

Came to ask the same thing. Would like to run knots if possible.

Trying to find out how to run Bitcoin Knots on my Apollo II full node also. Any step by step instructions?

From what I understand there's a future update coming out that will let us chose our own node implementation software; I suggest waiting for that for ease of use

Great news! I appreciate the FutureBit team for a great product and look forward to this update.

If you haven't seen, they are teasing Apollo III on X....

Does this mean that we will not see this for Apollo II? I suggest holding off on purchasing this product until it is implemented

My Apollo II has stopped working. It seems to light up when you power it on. But it does not hash any longer. It does not heat up. I have been using it with a Apollo II Full Node. I purchased it last November. I had it connected via the USB to my Apolo II full node, which still works perfectly. I changed out the USB cable hoping that was the issue. I received this on 12/11/2024 and it has quit properly working within six months. Any suggestions would be appreciated.

Do you live near Las Vegas? LOL

Hello,

I reflashed the SD card on my Apollo II full node but cannot get past ~380,000 blocks. Connection status repeatedly goes on and offline. No errors, just warning when offline "warning Connection refused. Your node is not running." and when online I am connected to anywhere from 3-12/64 connections

I turned off the miner as suggested online, but still not progressing.

Submitted a request online with FutureBit 3 days ago with no response.

Anyone have any suggestions for what may be causing this?

Bad controller memory chips?  See post 2980.

I see that Futurebit support response time hasn't improved, that's disappointing....

I just read your response in post #2971:

"Reformat the SSD:  Settings/Extras.

This was suggested to me by FB support (after waiting a week for a response, of course) and it worked for me.  Had the same issue: "Connection refused""

It's holding its connection and syncing...fingers crossed. Thank you @bubbAJoe.

It worked, and I am now fully synced and mining. Now I need to start running Bitcoin Knots. Thanks again

Glad I could help!!

Regarding power surges, you need a good backup power supply with noise suppression.  The apollo II power supply seems sensitive to power surges.

What make/model of UPS are you using?

If a miner connected to the Apollo II node hits a block, does the blockchain automatically send the coins to the wallet address in the worker name? Or are there steps that we'd need to take to receive the BTC in our wallet?

If you are using the built in solo mining option (which uses built in ckpool) on an Apollo Full Node and happen to find a block then the BTC address of the miner that found the block will directly receive the rewards assuming it is a valid block.

Yes, sorry, I meant assuming using the built in solo mining option.  Thanks!

Hey everyone,
I’m a total newbie here, so please bear with me—and I’d truly appreciate any help you can throw my way.

I received my Apollo II a couple of weeks ago. Everything was working great until there was a power outage. Since then, whenever I turn it on, my unit’s fan is running at full speed, I can't access the dashboard, and the front LED stays off.

I tried flashing versions v2.0.6 and v2.0.5, but neither worked. Maybe it’s because I have the limited hash version of the Apollo 2, and it only works with v2.0.7? Anything else I could try?

Does anyone know where I can download that version?

Thanks!

AFAIK, 2.0.7 is not yet available in the public domain, only via OTA. Email support, they can probably supply it to you.

Just received my Apollo II from Futurebit after waiting two months. $999 plus shipping.

I wanted to run my own node to support the botcoin network/community as well as have some privacy with my transactions, all the while having a lottery ticket to win 3.125 bitcoin every 10 minutes or so.

It was a noble idea, but this thing they sent me is VERY buggy and not working as advertised.  I've been trying to download the completed blockchain to the node for a few days, but it crashes, etc.  I got really far yesterday about 72% complete, but today now the unit is refusing connection: "warning Connection refused. Your node is not running."

I've scoured most of the 140+ pages in this forum.  Reached out to futurebit (not holding my breath on that)... and now kindly asking if any of you got this same error and resolved it successfully.

All this to say, I'm kinda disappointed I'm going to have to put a lot of work in to resolving this.  I overpaid to have it be easy... as time is money and I'm willing to part with my money to save time.

I've read that their return/exchange policy states only 14 days.  So I'll give it a couple more days to resolve, else, I'm returning it and dusting off my old Etherium miner (please note, I got paid in Bitcoin BTC so I'm not a shitcoiner) to run as my node.

Running the latest v2.0.7
Have At&t fiber 1GB up and down.
Hardwired directly in to switch that is connected to EERO 6.
Saved a port with the Ip address, added the 8333 and have disabled it after reading that it conflicted with operation while downloading the block chain.
Have tried rebooting router, switch, and Apollo II.  (Obviously)

The Apollo II can mine, but what's the point if I'm trying to solo mine to my own non-functioning node?

Any advice is appreciated, otherwise this baby is going back so they can make it someone else's problem.

Just know I had good intentions when I parted with my $1k for the last 2 months...

Do they not test this shit prior to sending it out?  They had 2 months!  Cheesy

Flashed it back to v2.0.6

Still no luck with the Node connection. Embarrassed

Then tried upgrading it back to v2.0.7 using the UI upgrade feature.  Non-responsive.

No flashed it back to v2.0.6

Not sure what to do from here.  Thoughts please?

Reformat the SSD:  Settings/Extras.

This was suggested to me by FB support (after waiting a week for a response, of course) and it worked for me.  Had the same issue: "Connection refused"

FYI, my Nano3 ran fine on high for several months, then all of a sudden it wouldn't retain my wifi settings.  Factory reset did nothing.

So I ran the recovery tool and it's back to running normal now!!
