Insane stuff guys.

Current 4-9-13 timelapse is up from this morning.  $195 > $240 O.O
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=CFPTWG1R9BM&feature=youtu.be

Gotta thank you for this.  Caught some of it real time but a day like this is astounding to watch play out again speeded up.  Just sitting there going WTF!!!! Smiley

Again, thanks, glad to help.  At the rate the market is swinging, I might cue up Fraps every night to watch the market while I sleep.  If we have a flat day I can just ditch the footage.  Don't feel like I want to make too many of these but hey, it's a good look back at the wild ride that has been Bitcoin.

i like watching those!  thanks for the effort.  i posted to my facebook wall to help get the word out.  if you made shorter clips, like 30 secs. long, then i think people will be more inclined to watch the whole thing...non-bitcoiners i mean.  just a suggestion. Smiley

Notice how the slope of the exponential is only just now reaching the 2011 bubble slope. That bubble took us up over another order of magnitude before popping. So if this is a short-term bubble there is at least a precedent that it would pop near $1,000.

I don't think we will reach $1000 before some huge swings(something would be considered "crash"), it ain't so easy for everyone to become rich.

if 100=20 then you are correct sir

Quote this and you will see how I modified your post. The first thing is to use the "links to share this image" code on imageshack, the URL you used is not embeddable.

i used the "links to share this image" but it didn't work for me...i might have miscopied it.  anyways, thanks for getting it up there!

Mtgox hamster lag issue finally addressed: Mtgox Facebook post
by
buddhacoiner
on 09/04/2013, 09:05:31 UTC
Hamster issue at Mtgox to be addressed by April 17th?  From the Mtgox facebook post:

Orders will only be accepted when there are enough funds available in your wallet!

Dear users, starting on April 17th we will be rolling out a minor change on how people place orders via the Mt.Gox interface.

Until recently, anyone could place a buy or sell order for Bitcoin, regardless of how much funds were actually available in their wallet, resulting in an order showing a "Not enough funds" error status in the Open Orders list.

Starting on April 17th, this counter productive scenario will no longer be possible and will be automatically rejected before validating your order; until you have enough funds in your wallet to match the order value.

While this change should only affect a minority of users, it will however have a major impact on our trading platform and improve our system overall performance.

Re: 9 "Killer" Criticisms of Bitcoin That Are Really Just Flesh Wounds
by

Very well written!  I shouldn't even be responding since I am nowhere near qualified to do so.  But everyone should definitely read this!

Bitcoin won't cease to exist, but the community size of bitcoin transactors can be quelled and stifled by government regulation of large and medium sized corporations.  Legally forcing the likes of Amazon, Walmart, Ebay, etc. to not accept bitcoin in the future could very well happen in the States.

sorry, but I think Voorhees has some very rational, level-headed advice.  for sure he believes bitcoin is going to go astronomical, and he is devoting all his efforts in support of this belief.  but he's also correct in the belief that it could easily falter.  in the short term  Smiley

love this Johannes!  would be great to be involved somehow.  kann Deutsch sprechen und wohne in Kanada, bruder wohnt in Asien und spricht Mandarin, freund in Kanada (auch Deutsch) hat film in der Uni studiert...

Hi thx buddha!

Im sure we an work something out!
Where exactly are you located? Others have also pledged their support and have even offered to conduct interviews for us over in the US. Maybe you guys could join forces on the right occasion. Do you have any skills that you could help us with?

Well, since I am in Taiwan at the moment, for now I could offer to interview someone involved with Bitcoin over here.  I haven't looked into the possible existence of any 'players' in Taiwan but if you know of any bitcoin action occurring here it would be fun to go and film an interview with them.  I have time on my hands so it's no problem.

I'm a short flight away from Tokyo, but I'm guessing you'll probably make it over there yourself at some point.

Re: Future Bitcoin millionaires - will you cash out when you hit $1M?
by
buddhacoiner
on 09/04/2013, 05:19:18 UTC
Ideally I would like to 'cash out' when I have enough to be able to piddle around on my remote piece of property off the grid and not have to worry about food (and having to work a menial job for it) for the rest of my life.  I don't want toys, cars, a second house or any of that.  I want to do nothing but spend my time in the woods where i live now, grow my own food, relax and not have to worry about the future.

Basically, I don't need much.  'Cashing out' for me would be using the bitcoin proceeds to purchase a few generators, a few more solar panels, a second rifle for hunting, 50 truckloads of soil and manure, a shitload of seeds and bullets (fail safe investments if I ever heard of any!), etc.  Then I would need enough to pay my monthly cell phone bill (yes, i live right on the cusp of cell service in the woods...and this is the only way i have internet), my yearly propane refill and my satellite porn.  Then I'm happy.  I've already backpacked around the whole world.

Re: The smartest article on why Bitcoin won't become the next currency

It's swinging now because it is still in price discovery mode. Whether it is going to be $1 or $1,000,000 one day it's going to reach equilibrium.
+1 If you look at the statistics you will see that the amount of BTC traded today on exchanges is measured in 10's of thousands. If you look at the economic transaction side of BTC you see it is measured in millions of BTC. The currency side is alive and thriving.

http://bitcoincharts.com/bitcoin/

Agreed with BitcoinTate

As for you Bitcoin Girl, meh, your points seem to come from the perspective of someone who doesn't yet understand the value of bitcoin, because you likely haven't used it to solve a problem in the real world; whether it be sending money internationally with little fees, contributing to an organization like wiki-leaks, or purchasing something anonymously from a tor network. There's more than enough of a potential market in the few examples we've listed above to justify a substantially larger $/btc price than we see today.

If you'd like, we can trade my pac man pellets for your bitcoins, if you have any.

Also, in case you care, you come across as a FUD agent, or a troll, neither of which is appreciated here.  If you'd like to be better received you should more carefully package your messages.

that's completely unfair Eye, she (or he) does not come across like that at all.  s/he brought up a valid point to consider and mull over.  a lot of people have already done that here in the past, but that's not a reason to berate her thinking.  we all just want more information, and i suggest we continue to help one another out positively.

yeah, i think the key thing to keep in mind here is that bitcoin is still in it's infancy.

according to Max Keiser, when bitcoin his $2700 it will be on par with the market capitalization of silver.  to this day, silver is still considered a volatile investment.  however, that doesn't make it unwise to invest in silver.  he further suggests that silver is a good hedge against bitcoin, and that bitcoin investors should peel off 10% and put it into silver.

so, according to Keiser, when bitcoin hits $2700 per coin then it would be on par with the market capitalization of silver..

the manipulator put up a big sell wall, and no one panic sold....  im so proud

even if we were to crash to $1 (which it won't at this point) i would still hold my coins.  it would almost be an ideal situation since i would then buy more for real cheap.  there's too much happening with bitcoin all over the globe.  if it were to crash down a little every now and then due to speculation, that's okay.  this is a long term thing.  and daily $20-40 swings...i wouldn't sweat it....that's just the ueber greed affecting us
