At the time of creating the topic it was not growth. I think that today we are on the verge of really growing, after the rapid decline of the beginning of this year.
After the rapid decline that start in the first quarter of this year, until now it is in the dump situation, but I am hoping that before the coming of the 4th quarter of this year its already in the limelight and have it fully recover.
Definately Ethereum as Erc20 platform is great and adopted by many projects around the world while waves is a little localised in comparision to Ethereum.
I am holding both waves and ethereum but i dont think that Eth will outlive Waves because we all know that the future of Waves is very bright and we also know that it is the best altcoin so i dont believe that Ethereum is more better than Waves.
For me I think waves is way far beyond ethereum, i think it is not comparable yet to eth at he moment, because we know that ethereum is very popular already and it has done so many tremendous job, while waves is only at its initial stage.
Which are the best competitors to Ethereum, and why do you think so?
(I know on top of my head that Cardano and IOTA try to challenge Ethereum,

NEO is a competitor that can compete and defeat Ethereum. NEO has its foundation and ecosystem that supports any tokens that want to grow on its basis. Yes I agree, if there is one coin that can compete the ethereum, I think it will be NEO. Because it has more advance technology that can compare to ethereum, it has its own platform also like what ethereum have. And the best thing asbout NEO it has a solid community that is the same with bitcoin and ethereum.
Only a few coins will survive. Those that can solve real world problems might be able to survive. Also coins that is in the top 10% has the biggest chance to survive. So stay close and trust the real ones.
Now many projects are not good and unrealistic, and maybe this is one reason why a lot of coins do not survive. I think the projects that can show their successful one can survive in the market.
ICO 2018, I never heard this ICO's, but I strongly suggest that if you want to put any investments in the ICO, you better check and study their project and their team to better understand before you make any investments.
In my opinion, the best thing we could be doing at the moment is taking the time to learn more about cryptocurrencies.

I am a bit worried about the market price situation now, because it continues to go down and down. My investment also goes down to more that 50% and I don't know how long will it going to continue to go down. I just hope that in the coming days it will be back again to its high price.
As per my suggestion You can go with Ethereum, Monero, Neo, Dash, Waves, Stratis and Zcash all these coins are good for long term holding and already established in this crypto market. All those coins have a background and they have potential to grow.
I am confident in ethereum and bitcoin for long term hold. this two coins are very popular and its now slowly growing in the market, its popularity is gaining more and more investors in this crypto world.
I do not think that the market will recover in 2 years because cryptocurrency is now growing rapidly so much interest from the public to buy altcoin or bitcoin in the next few months.see from the bitcoin history chart data from year to year, indeed Q1 bitcoin must have corrected the price and start to recover in the middle of the year. so it is probable this year bitcoin prices will begin to gradually rise and the market starts to stabilize.
Nobody can predict how long the market price can recover, it can be month or up to two years maybe. We cannot really tell, but what I hope is for the market to grow as soon as possible time so we can all be happy.
Long time holding is a smart thing to do as far as crypto currency is concern. I have realize that, investors try to play smart in the crypto business in that, they begin to dump most tokens to cause a decline in token prices. This will in turn pave way for them to buy more tokens in other for them to hold for long and sell at higher prices when token values shoot up. probably because I know that nowadays many people hold altcoins and wait for altcoin prices to stabilize and so now many people are choosing to invest in the promising Altcoin so from now on with the decline that many people are currently waiting for altcoin prices and market back upI am holding my coins since last december 2017, its not that I wanted to hold it for a long time, but due to the market price drops, since january 2018 up to now, I cannot do anything but to wait for the market price to grow and from there I think I can exchange my coins already.
Make no mistake about it, the closest competitor fro ETH is NEO. Other potentials are EOS and ICON. But if I had to say could ETH be overtaken within a couple of years by anyone, then I would say NEO, for all the reasons already mentioned in this thread.

There are too many altcoins that are good in the market and have a good technology, and even though the market value is not too prominent I think it is not impossible that they will appear and become popular in the next few months.
I am holding my bitcoin, since december 2017, but up to now I am still holding it, I want to exchange but the price in the market is still very low that is why I don't want to exchange. I will wait more time before I decide again if sell or still hold.

Yes, I agree, I also keep my money in my crypto wallet, its more ok for me than keeping it in the bank, because it gives me convinience whenever I need it, even at night, unlike in the bank that if I need a money I need to drop by in the nearest bank before I can withdraw.

Start in a amount that you can accept what ever it takes either it will in biggest dip still you can survive because in crypto the one who can wait to pump are the one who will get profit .
You can start to invest even in a small amount, but i suggest that you study first carefully whatever investments you want to put your money in. You can do day trading, or short trading, in this way, you will not need a big amount and only small amount can give you earnings.
It depends on the altcoins, there are too many alts that arising but only few of them are good and legit. I am holding only ethereum and bitcoin, these two coins for are the only coins that can give high profit.

You said it was a successful ICO before so their previous performance will shows the quality of this investment and it is proven not a scam project. Is that so? then better you join this investment because having a reputable record and experience already are better that the new ICO in which it will be need to be tested and to be review if the new project is not a scam.
I think we are the one who should decide for ourselves and do what we want in crypto. If you think your capital investment is still ok and can continue with investing in ICO, then you don't need to ask for it. Just do what you think its good for you.
I also think so. I will choose and trust the ICO project that already has the previous product. It will be more clear where the direction, process, progress and real what will be developed.
I don't think it is required to have a product before you invest in any ICO, I don't think it's necessary to have that, just find a good ICO and check their development team and always do some research before putting any investment to it.
