Bro please do a research this forum is invaded with hundreds of posts from noobs lazy.
I myself have rx580 a rig of 8
Just search anorak bios mode on google and flash it with atieinflash but before save your original .rom in case you fuck it up you need backup.
After flashing with anorak you should get at least 30.5 with that card

try yourself one and see how much nicehash is giving you per day, just mine 10 minute and if you make at least 3$ a day, keep them
Personally i would keep them at this price, even if you don't want to mine, you can sell them on craigslist for at least the same price

Question regarding mining with RX 580
by

Hi All
I regularly buy ethereum to pay some bills and i usually lose around 15-20% for exchanger fee.
I was thinking i would save a little if i just mine the coins myself (not for making profit, but for myself to spend), in this case is it better to pay 15% exchanger versus mine myself ?
I got an offer to buy 8 XFX AMD RADEON 8GB for 499$ each and i thought the deal is a steal so i quickly bought them (all brand new in box)
Now i'm looking for a good motherboard for these 8, which would you recommend asus btc+ or asrock ?
And how do you guys think if you'd spend 2k a month ethereum and pay like 3-350$ fee, wouldn't it be better if i invest 10k and get that amount monthly (i'm in bay area san francisco, here electricity is around 16-23 cents kw)
Any advice would help a lot

Re: GTX 1080 or GTX 1070 ?

vann: each 1080 is making about 5-6$ per day. as i said, i'm doing intense 3d programming and i use lot of gpu, i only put them to mine when pc is idle. i think 1080 have better resale value for long term than 4gb cards.
how much are those 4gb making each ? i would be interested to see how they perform on nicehash

Things must be rough where you live if you consider $540 for a 1080 and $460 for a 1070 a great deal. You could buy two of the RX 470 4GB mining cards for $500 or the gaming RX 570 4GB cards for less than that, if you can find them and get roughly 20-30% more hashrate for the same price.

Nobody is selling the RX 470 mining cards for $250 - the NewEgg postings were mistakes, they don't even have the cards yet - and the rep I talked to was pretty sure they were NOT going to actually sell the things at MSRP or even close when they DO get them.

If you can get GTX 1070 at $400, GRAB THEM - that's bloody cheap at current pricing, and is the same ballpark they were in a month ago before the started getting impacted by the "mining caused GPU shortage".

Last time I checked NewEgg (yesterday), for example, the LOWEST they had a "in stock" GTX 1070 listed at was well over $500, and most were $600-$800 of the VERY FEW IN STOCK options they had at all.

BTW - they didn't have ANYTHING in an RX 470/480/570/580 for under $500 at all, and only 1 or 2 options under $600 - at current pricing the RX line has ZERO advantage in reaching ROI over the GTX 1070.

Trying to call those cards "$250 cards" is not valid and hasn't been for a month or two now.

The rep you spoke with is incorrect. The mining cards were in stock at Newegg and limited to one per person for $260 for the Samsung cards and $250 for the non-Samsung version. They are still listed on the website and you can sign up to be notified when they come back in stock.

https://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16814202283

This morning Newegg also had Nvidia 1070's for $399.99 and others at $429.99, limited to one per person. Several places have had the regular RX 570 4GB cards at less than $250 over the past week. You need to act fast because they sell out quick.

http://www.nowinstock.net/computers/videocards/amd/rx570/

these are 4gb cards. you can find 4gb anywhere. for mining, ideally would be 8gb at least. today i bought 16 evga 1080, i'll post later how they perform.
I noticed amazon sells 1080 cheaper than 1070. Suppose you find 1070 and 1080 at the same price, which one would you buy ?

I'm about to meet the dealer to buy 16 pieces 1080. The final price is 9000$ out-the-door
What do you guys think ?
What about the gtx 1070, ask him the price for 16 of them. GTX 1080 at $539 was a good price, for $30 more is not worth. Actually as you are buying many, a final price on the GTX 1080 for $530 a piece would be the deal.
gtx 1070 is 400$ but only 4 available

RX 470 8 gb price is 220 eur
and hashrate is up from GTX 1080

first of all you should be able to get some RX 470 8 gb which are on stock and sold at this price and what will you do with that cards in few weeks when they lose 30% hash power on ETH? going to one of the few alt-currencies (where for sure none of the other AMD miners will go to shred the profit there)? Wink

Even if the epoch benchmark issue with the Claymore miner is not fixed or ETH goes to POS by that time, two RX 4XX/5XX card will easily do 620 H/s on ZEC or ~30% better than a 1070, or ~10% better than a 1080. Results for most other algoriths is similar. The bottom line is I can mine more coins for the same amount spent on cards with the RX 4XX/5XX than any Nvidia 10 series cards.
problem with rx is almost impossible to find here in california. all stores , even amazon is sold out.
only one model is available in bulk, this one:
https://www.amazon.com/MSI-GAMING-Radeon-RX-470/dp/B01KCWZHTO
it costs 699$ + tax, that's 150$ more than 1080.

I have a great deal to buy 10 - gtx 1080 at 539$ a piece brand new, another deal for 10 gtx 1070 at 459$ a piece.
I need some advice from people who own rigs of nvidia. Which one of these 2 would you buy and Does it worth to invest 5.5k in this deal ?
Thanks in advance!
Gtx 1080 certainly has the latest technology, but you must see in terms of needs and also your ability. I think the latest technology definitely has a much better feature. Investing money is certainly a difficult thing, you should be able to think about when the ROI will occur and what coin you will be mining. Whether the coin has a good prospect or not. So consider everything before you regret having spent a lot of money.
I'm buying bitcoins every month to pay for  expenses. i'm doing intense 3d programming and web sites and i use a lot of gpu memory. So i was thinking why pay lot of fee to buy coins when i can put this pc to mine when i'm not working and is idle.

The price for 1080 is really good, i might be able to negotiate a little if i buy more.
Is there a difference in hash rate between these 2 models 1080 ?:

and

I did a quick test with 1070 and 1080 with nicehash miner and 1080 seems to perform better by about 1.50$/day. Anyone experienced the same ?
Thanks in advance!

the bottom gpu is older gtx 780 but i'm only testing the upper one (gtx 1080 fe). With fan set at 90% after 10 minutes the temp stays at 70c stable. With default settings lbry generates 7-8$ / day on nicehash pool. I can get very good prices on gtx 1080 fe in bulk but i'm worried about gpu longevity. If the fan will eventually die, is it cheap to replace it ?

I set the fan manually at 90% and the temperature goes down to 72-75% from 83%.
If you run this gpu card 24h with fan at 90%, how long its lifetime can reach ?

Thank you, appreciate your help. I run ccminer lbry with default settings, no overclocking of gpu. I didn't see any settings for temp, How can i lower the temperature ? Thx in advance!

Hi, what os are you using? If it's windows you can use msi afterburner to do the undervolting. (It's an all in 1 software (you just can't modify the gpu's bios in there)
Linux sadly i don't know them yet XD
I'm using 7 -64 bit.
Thanks for help. Its nice to see people like you helping others Smiley
