Re: the best books you've read on money and investing

Whatever book you may want to read this time, this book might just have an audio version on youtube. There was once a time when I wanted to read a book a woman was reading on the coffee shop. I tried searching about it online and found an audio book uploaded on youtube. Seem a better way than reading it myself as I can just use my headphone.

And just like this "The richest man in babylon" I saw its audio book on youtube as well.  May try to listen to it.

Re: How can you enjoy the game when you are losing?
by
cabron

I always bet on my favorite teams and if my favorite teams lose, I naturally feel bad, but in some cases I have to accept the reality. After checking various things, when I feel that my favorite team is relatively less strong than the opposing team, then I have to bet against my favorite team, but when I see my favorite team winning on the field, I feel good that my favorite team is winning, even if it costs a little money. This has happened to me many times in my betting career and I should not have taken these things as a given at the beginning, but now I don't take these things as a given. Basically, those who bet cannot bring 100% results in their favor, for example, I am talking about the final match of the Club World Cup where the most favorite team in the final match was PSG and 90% of the gamblers may have bet relatively more money on PSG but the result went against them.

That's an example of what OP might have been looking at. Being happy as a fan while losing a bet.  Grin

There have been times that I have also bet on my favorite fighter and then lost the bet because an underdog won. Not a good feeling but worth to support my beloved country man fighting in the ring.  But when the both fighters are not from my country, I would bet on someone who has the advantage and likely to win. No more concept of happy while losing.

Board Speculation (Altcoins)
Re: Altcoins - not selling too early.
by

on 23/07/2025, 15:24:09 UTC

Some altcoins price risen but are not noticeable really. We all notice the greens when BTC also spiked to its new ATH. If there is a reason for you to sell while you are already in profit, why not. It may never go up again, you said it yourself this altcoin bull run may not be a big as it was before.

The ones reason why some of us actually believe the atlcoin season today might be bigger is because of the ETFs filed by difference institutions. Can;t say whose right or wrong but just don't get your hopes too high.

Re: When gambling what do you measure? Luck or chances?

For sports bettors, they normally analyze and read what other bettors are saying. Its like comparing notes and see which could justify the pick. If they see an underdog team members can make a difference, they make pick this team but for some they stick to what is offered by the bookies and win a small amount thinking its almost a sure win bet. If they bets are wrong then, its just one experience to note.

Re: Does the novelty wear off?

If you are extremely rich and you can just gamble up to your heart's content, does the novelty of winning wear off? Like would you get tired of gambling since there's really not much risks because you can gamble with any amount and still receive little to no consequences?

Most probably. Nothing much left to spend your money on casinos games. But you will look for something riskier like gambling with the rich men in the city.  Maybe risk life too, dealing with mobsters and maybe trade more on futures market.

When you are not feeling the thrills anymore in casinos games you will look for something else to get addicted too. Diverting your attention to something else and some of rich men look for younger wife.

Re: Why some countries gamble more than the others?
by
cabron
on 22/07/2025, 14:33:05 UTC

It must be due to religion. In Muslim countries, gambling is illegal and although there are still people gambling, it isn't as vulgar as right in a public place. Same on countries where governments are prohibiting gambling, its effective in making people afraid to gamble and they are not going to be addicted to it.

Countries with more gambling addicts means the laws aren't that tight.  I live in a country where gambling is rampant and allowed so more people are up to play all night.

Re: Have you been addicted to gambling in the past.

Was addicted early in my senior high school days, I am always playing cards with my friends. We have to hide every time from basement to basement until the summer ends and we have to go resume school after. Every weekends I have to go to my friends house to ask whether they are interested and when I learn they moved on. Nothing else I can do but move on as well. Nothing serious to that addiction, another addiction takes over it.

Gambling addiction is only in our minds, I'm sure when something else has represented itself, you'd forget about gambling.

Re: Would you allow your underage kid to use your detail for KYC after a big win.
by

Depends on how much he money he won. If the amount is not worth it then he can forget about it or he could just continue playing until he aged. I believe he would be mandated to submit KYC when he withdraws the money, if not then I guess he can continue to keep it secret. This is is he isn't that smart.

A kid trying to play on casino would be as resourceful as an adult, I'm sure he could find someone who will just give away his identity for $50.

People are picking XRP is because there are wo many investment comoany filing ETFs which they allocate at least small percentage for XRP token.

I saw a news just yesterday that Trump Family company is also filing XRP ETF along with other altcoinw wuch as SOL and ETH. FOMO  must be coming soon as altcoins are shooting but I dont think its time to sell BTC. Keep holding if youre not buying.

⭐ Merited by Mpamaegbu (1)

Even when you are like giving back the money you won, you still get excited in every spin. Thats what slot can do to you. Surveys says Slot in traditional casinos are the most addictive game. Gamblers see no different to the online slot game. If it stimulates your excitement, you're hooked.

Before you lose back that $400, buy something out of that money. Something worth keeping.

Re: 🥊 The UFC Info and Prediction Thread

Poirier and Holloway didn't disappoint.
It looked for a moment that Max was about to get the KO early in the first, but Dustin survived and the show went on.
That was a very good retirement fight for Dustin, maybe it's even better for him that he didn't win as that would probably plant some doubt in his head on whether the decision to retire was premature. It's not a loss that he would be ashamed of anyway.

What's next for Max? Hard to say. He's not going to get a title shot against Topuria (even if, ranking-wise, he's in a good position for that) as they fought fairly recently and it was a one-sided show. He's unlikely to move back down to featherweight to challange Volkanovski, as they already fought 3 times, although who knows, it might not be the worst idea.
I think you would stay at 155 where he still have some good options. He could get a fight with Oliveira, he defeated him once in 2015, so it could be hyped on that. Or he could get Tsarukyan or better yet Dan Hooker for the BMF belt, which is a fight I wouldn't mind seeing.

I thought it would be over when Max mounted Dustin. Its really time for Dustin to retire, reflexes aren't that fast anymore, he can't just throw a fist without expecting a punch from the other guy.

Max vs Oliveira fight in the FW was just cause by the injury and never fought again. This time Max vs Oliveira would be good to watch in LW even for just for FN. It will still be worth watching.

Re: [Boxing] Mario Barrios vs Manny Pacquiao WBC Welterweight Title - July 19

He managed to knock down Barrios, his score must have been leading but then its a draw.
I can only laugh that only a very few people won this match. Some of us may think Pacman was robbed but seem like they already planned all these that we all lost. Many bettors probably have been casting bets to Pacman when Barrios fell.

Its too interesting to see Barrios is too defensive in the beginning rounds. I think this is really fix and looks pretty much an exhibition fight.

Cryptoweek isn't done yet. There will be more of these bills.

Somehow I have doubts of the proposal and this will take a very long deliberation because bills like this will be once again taken advantage by the rich people. Tax laws are being fixed for these guys and loopholes are made for them. In general though, they have to really make laws better than the current tax law.

No options left for the poor countries though. If their government doesn't go along with these rich countries, it means they are against them. Most probably going to be sanctioned as well.

Politicians in the poor countries looks smart when they follow this so called climate change because the media represents them like Environmentalist who will save the earth. In the end, nothing really is helping the climate.

on 19/07/2025, 11:18:18 UTC
We've seen this happen on some fighters and they didn't able to recover then not able to get back their 100% shape.

So hopefully everyone is safe after this fight, But still I'm still curious to watch how Pacquaio perform on his comeback match so lets just see how it ends up.
I can’t wait for this fight, it’s already happening tomorrow.

Have you guys placed your bets yet? I already locked in mine. I’ve got Pacman winning by decision at 5.10 odds.

I know he’s older now, but if he still has that sharpness, he can definitely win on points.
So there’s probably not going to be a KO, and if it goes to the scorecards, my bet’s got a good shot.

Pacman by Decision is 5.40 right now. It could mean that his chance of winning is declining. We'll never know the outcome you can only hope you win 5x though.

This is not the kind of fight I would participate to bet, anywhere I look at it I think I'd be losing my funds. Pac could win if he still has it just like Iron Mike still has it and Pac probably have it still but the age and Barrios is also a champ.

No link source for this announcement?

No president is doing like this before but surely the regulators should be catching up before this executive order flies.
Everybody is onboard already when this happen. Elders just have to hope they are not going to lose their hard earned money and they can use their funds while they retire somewhere warmer.

Re: How Gambling Works? Business Perspective?

Since you are confident you can develop a game, why don't you develop it and create a website for it. And then you allow users to use it and see what people here can say about the game. If the game can become popular, it will definitely be good for your resume.

I think if some casinos would like to add the game on their platform, you could allow them to hire you or share the code to them and then maybe you earn from too.

You can apply such strategy on combat sports when you see potential to one underdog which this fighter is underrated. Only a few combat sport fan can see such potential though, you have to be a real fan to see such.

I'm not sure if it happens on basketball or soccer, most of the time when its an underdog team, its really an underdog. Nothing much to see unless the top team overturns the ball over and over.

Re: Whales Are Accumulating Bitcoin Aggressively
by

on 17/07/2025, 17:26:49 UTC
If you are not a whale then you may not be able to buy aggressively at all.  You'd be more confident in dumping and buying back when you think how much BTC you get while the market is still dipping.

With having just a fraction of BTC, and bought it at a higher price, you are not a whale and will have doubts because you would only be earning just few satoshis upon buying back. You are just accumulating unlike the whales that they can affect the market when they sell.
