SRB added Freehaven in version 1.7.1 of his miner https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=3167363.0

I only got 900H per rx580 8gb in this version, while I got 1400H using xmr stak, Am I missing something why I only got that hashing power using this latest version of SRB?

Re: m.2 pcie riser for Asus z370-a question

Although I haven't got a 370 board up and running yet (one AMD board waiting for a psu at the moment), I have got an m.2 adaptor working on my Z270 board. Its using a Lattcure M.2 adaptor. It provides a 1x pcie slot just like the mobos use and its working great. Doesnt need the external power attached either. I will be using them on my X370 build soon and can report back how it goes. But the Lattcure ones are definitely great quality.

thanks, i think i'm going to try that pcie 1x m.2 also. The one with just USB port not working on both 370-a or -p model

m.2 pcie riser for Asus z370-a question
by

on 04/03/2018, 14:38:40 UTC
Anyone try any m.2 riser on the z370-a board?   I bought some of m.2 with USB plug only not the one with 1x pcie bus on it, it seem the board is not seeing the gpu.  also i did try on the z370-p board, same thing happen.
the GPU fan run full speed when power on but nothing happen, i also did change the bio to x2 speed and set to pcie only not auto.  I only try to setup with 1 gpu that connect to the m.2 riser.
i was thinking m.2 is bad, but i open up 4 of them all doing the same thing.

anyone have successful with m.2 on 370-a or 370-p board please let me know which m.2 you got.
thanks.

For the lazy.

Yes, that is ugly, but we've all been there. Keep it up. I find the 1"x2" wood and aluminum "L" are the best and cheapest. For $25 I can build 2 rigs in 20 minutes.

Haha,  it is scrap wood.  I just put them together, as long it do the job who care how it look.  Wink

asus prime z370-a+i3
so far 6 rx 580 + 1 more on the way + 1050 ti
running 187.3 mh/s  but on claymore it seem running much more at @ 200 mh/s

it is very straight forward board to setup, it was upgrade from my gaming board only supply up to 4+1 m.2 only need to turn on 4g and set all pci to Gen2.  some how this board gen 3 will cause error and not stable on the system.

running at 1kw from the wall with dual psu and stable now.

Re: Using stove power outlet for mining?

Exactly what he said ... That's what I was getting at.

There seem to be lots of confusion so my reply was more adding info that may help some people than aimed specifically at you.

As for what i know that 220-240v 40a are 3 wires plug and cable, which are 2 hot wire and 1 ground wire.  Each hot wire are still only 20a.
15a or 20a are normal outlet in most home in the US, which can hanle 1800/2400w.  I will reserve 20% of the load for safety due to if you are running the power consistently over 3 hours.  so you are talking about 1440/1920w per a breaker line (not each outlet).

With your kitchen 240v that really don't give you much if you running a 6-8gpu rig 1k-1.2kw.  which only allow you run 2 rigs or 3 max.   BTW most American home power line are 100a cable from outside, apartment that depend could be 100 or 200a.  you really  can't setup like mining farm, because you will max out your power line after 4 rigs that take 1kw+ each system.  Unless you not using any electricity at home, like Microwave, AC, Ranger, Fridge bla bla bla that draw power as well.

No. While 240v 40a is 3 or 4 wires, both hots are 40A, but at 120v, the ground and optionally the neutral are there but not any different from usual. Two 120v 20a give you 240v 20a, not 40a. Phil is correct as usual.

You are right, each is 40a.  but i won't use them full power, 40a each that is 80a for the line.  Your home wiring from outside more likely 100a only.   else your breaker may keep popping if you have too much load from the mining rig.  You need to count other appliance you using from home, since your line are only 100a from outside.

This is what you are looking for:

https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=2754227.0

Cheers
Andy

i hear this type board, but questions is this type board are very basic and limit resource.  the rig i have now with 4 gpu is running with Celeron cpu, it is way too damn slow every time i try to play it around do some modify change bla bla bla.  it crash on me some time or properly just way too slow i don't even know if it is still running. lol
beside that, the board is extra size just don't know if that is good or not.

i'm running win 10 64bit pro
8gb ddr4
celeron 3900
msi 270 gaming plus board
2.5" HDD
RX 580 8gb

i should use i3 cpu or maybe small SSD to make running smoothly

If you are (seriously) mining on Windows, you are doing things fundamentally wrong!
Any Celeron can easily handle 8 GPU’s and more!), but if you prefer to enjoy the Windows update and driver hell... ;-)

Cheers
Andy

I'm not taking about if it can run 8 gpu, i'm sure once the windows setup and miner running it won't be any problem.   But the windows it self are running kinda slow when shut down and restart, and also adding another card to the system.  it take pretty long time to do small setup.

I believe the general consensus is 8 cards with Asus z270-p and 9 cards with the z270-a. I recommend using linux distros for more than 8 cards. There are btc specific b250,b350, h81 and h110 mobos, but the prices are heavily inflated if they are not sold out.

i hardly use Linux, last time i touch it was like 15 years ago lol, any link that can help me setup Linux system for mining?  or i hear the the simple mining os?

Agree as it appears Windows has a limitation of 8 GPU's.

you mean linux can have more the 8 same gpu?  this is good to know.  How about mix gpu?  amd nivida?
