Re: Claymore's CryptoNote AMD GPU Miner v11.0

Firstly, thanks to Claymore for the improvements here! On most of my rx 470 4GB cards, I am seeing about a 3-4% increase in hash-rate!

However, I was hoping v11 would also alleviate an issue I've been seeing since starting to use v10.2 a while ago.  For some reason, GPU 0 on all 4 of my rigs acts very strangely... most of the time hashing well below the others... fluctuating between 0 and 450, while the other 5 are right at the 700 mark.  Now, if this were only on 1 rig I would think the GPU is going bad, but since it is the exact same GPU slot 0 on all 4 rigs, it is more likely some kind of setting that i need to tweak.

Has anyone else noticed this on their rigs?  If so, any suggestions on how to fix it?

FYI: after just upgrading all 4 rigs to v11.0, GPUs 1-5 are hashing better by about 3-4% but GPU 0 is still bad on all 4. Although, it doesn't seem to be fluctuating as much... pretty much stuck at 232 on 3 rigs and weirdly, 120 on the 4th.

Any help resolving this would be much appreciated!

When Claymore miner starts, you will see GPU0 has a few less MB than other same cards.
Code:
GPU #0: Pitcairn, 1975 MB available, 20 compute units
GPU #0 recognized as Radeon 270/270X
GPU #1: Pitcairn, 1984 MB available, 20 compute units
GPU #1 recognized as Radeon 270/270X
GPU #2: Pitcairn, 1984 MB available, 20 compute units
GPU #2 recognized as Radeon 270/270X
GPU #3: Pitcairn, 1984 MB available, 20 compute units
GPU #3 recognized as Radeon 270/270X

Try to lower the -h parameter for GPU0

Thanks a ton for that tip! even though my GPU 0 was showing exactly the same MB available as other 5 GPUs I still gave your method a shot.  on startup, all were at -h value auto of 892, so I lowered GPU 0 to 812 as a test and it worked immediately!  Got that card up to 672 (from 120)!  I may play with it and inch up a bit but that's already a huge improvement! Now i will make that same change to my other rigs! Thanks again! Really appreciate it!

I'm glad to help !

Testing again and again when a card doesn't work like you think it should Wink
But sometimes a card is really lower than others : I have 2 Sph R9 290 ref board, one running at 700 H/s no matter how I overclock, the other at 810 H/s @1040/1500 . Flashing bios didn't help so far...

Anyway, if you feel like sending me some ETN, feel free to do so !

Hello,
I've been running dashminer for a while on a single GPU system, and want to try it on a 8-GPU rig

I've been tweaking this since +/-24h to get the best OC settings for my cards.

The problem is, my stats-page shows only +100% compared to the solo worker : I didn't know I could use a worker id until last hour...

http://am.dashminer.com/?user=XuBTsrUeDHh389WXTjm4ge9jCEWnYhcE5F

The rig is running linux ubuntu 16.04, the solo miner is also running linux.

edit:
A bug I noticed : only GPU 7 is accepting shares, and if I disable it, no share is accepted (tried for 5 minutes)

edit2 :
For whatever reason only my R9 280X  was accepting shares.
It seems R9 290/380 do not work properly with dashminer !

I put in some good old 270s and it looks much better, all cards accepting shares.

Is there a way under smos to determine what memory does gpu have (Samsung, hynix or micron)?

This worked fine with my R9s :

I wrote a simple bash script to get some share stats on current running miner.
Assuming you activated "screen logs", there it is :
Code:
#!/bin/bash

log=screenlog.0

while [ ! -f $log ]
 do ls
 echo "Enter logfile name :"
 read log
done

ACC=$(grep accepted $log | wc -l)
INC=$(grep incorrect $log | wc -l) # CryptoNote incorrect shares
STA=$(grep Stale $log | wc -l) # EquiHash stale shares

ERR=$[ 100 * $[ $INC + $STA ] / $[ $ACC + $INC + $STA ] ]

# Display

echo -e "\n
\tLogfile\t: $log
\tAccepted  : $ACC
\tIncorrect : $INC
\tStale     : $STA
\tTotal\t: $[ $ACC + $INC + $STA ]
\t% Lost\t: $ERR\n
"

It will display results like this :
Code:
miner@simpleminer:~$ share_stats

Logfile : screenlog.0
Accepted  : 255
Incorrect : 32
Stale     : 1
Total : 288
% Lost : 11

miner@simpleminer:~$

I'm getting my hardware (6 x RX580) next week and I'm looking for what OS to use.

I've read a lot about modding the bios of the GPU and since I don't have accesss to a windows machine (except as a virtual machine) can SMOS take care of that for me or what should I do?

If I have two different kinds of RX580, anything special to think about or it's all automagical?

I'm using the R9 version, so maybe it's not true for RX.
The atiflash tool located in /root/utils/atiflash. I think usage is same as DOS version :

Code:
--- ATIFLASH v4.25 ---
-h, -?, /h, /?          Help (this screen)

Format: ATIFLASH [command] [parameter1] [parameter2] [parameter3]

It worked fine to back up current VBIOS and update it, on a regular Sapphire R9 290.
Hashrate did not increase though...

Feature Request:

Please would you enable scrolling when viewing the console via the Simplemining.net website?
When you have +12 GPU's, not having the ability to scroll means my clients are unable to see all the info needed when using --peg options when mining Equihash.

4 posts above you have the exact answer to your problem

Why would i want to implement a temp solution which will need to be continuously re-applied with every single SMOS update?
Hack jobs are fine when you have 1 or 2 machines.

The feature request was clear: enable scrolling when viewing the console via the Simplemining.net website.

SMOS is simple
Writing a script to modify n rigs and centralize logs would not take a long time

How to save miner logs in SMOS ?

edit your /root/start.sh

modify line 16 like this :
   screen -L -dm -S miner bash -c "/root/utils/update_register.sh" &

now, all your screen output will be redirected to /home/miner/screenlog.0 so type :
  tail -f /home/miner/screenlog.0

and you will see the live output. in colors by the magic of gnu. Ctrl+C will get you back to shell.

Beware the file will grow fast, scp it somewhere and delete it periodically

You may have to edit the /root/start.sh file after SMOS updates

claymore will quickly fail on this one and switch to miningpoolhub

Update about simplemining.net server problem

I found what was causing the issue. It wasnt any DDoS (cloudflare is ok)
The cron backups of the database made too big write load on server and in some point the database just overloaded becasue of it Sad
I had two incidents and both started as backups kicked in.
So i can 100% confirm that this was causing poblem.

Well done chef !

Can someone help me?
I've got 6 x rx 580 nitro+ but I can only run 4 when I put the 5th the program only recognize 4 and the rate of mining down.
With 4 I am mining 124.5 mh/s but when I put 5 (only works 4) I am mining 82mh/s.

This is my SM config:
-wd 1 -r 1 -epool stratum+tcp://eth-eu.dwarfpool.com:8008 -ewal $wallet/$name -esm 0 -epsw x -allpools 1 -mport -3333 -asm 1

And this is my OC SM:
Core MHz: 1200
Memory MHz: 2250
Core Undervolting: 850
PowerStage: 3
Target cº: 64
Minimum Fan speed: 50

MotherBoard: Asus B250 Expert miminig
Power supply: HXCorsair 1200i

With 4 graphics 640w from the wall so I dont thing that the problem is the power supply. any ideas?

Thanks in advance

Man this MB is just beautiful ! I didn't know about it , will definitely give it a try someday Wink

When the system is up, open a terminal an type /root/utils/atitweak/atitweak -s to see what cards are detected by the OS.
On my MB , ASRock 12xPciE, some cards don't show up if the MB power plugs are splitted from PSU (don't use Y cable on these).

There is a workaround when SMOS website is down.

there it is :

Don't forget to undo the changes when SMOS will be up and reliable again !

USB images are all there http://download.simplemining.net/
I wonder if it's accessible when the site is down though...

I've got problem when changing miner and options at this time, so the rig cannot work.
i found no idea about this maintenance except a "simple notification" lol

here what i have done briging my rig back:

1. logging in my rig with putty via ssh, using root account
2. editing /home/miner/config.json (remember replacing "/" by "\/")
3. reboot the rig

 Grin

Thank you for this one Wink

Also adding :

127.0.0.1 simplemining.net

in your /etc/resolv.conf so the SMOS connection check won't try too hard
