Well, I don't think physical protests and strikes are good idea. They go out of control pretty quickly, there are a lot of various types of damages and people hurt.

We are representatives of an intelligent society and need to act accordingly, but effectively.
I like the actual response from EEF, it is correct and smart. Good example.

IMO the root of the problem is in that majority of people is simply unaware of these regulations and to what they may lead. Some people just don't care. Some wrongfully assume that they have nothing to hide, but it's not about hiding, it's about not showing everything to everyone.

And I think, the best step to begin is to make people aware of what's happening. Let them speculate whenever those regulations and limitations do really make lives better to majority or were solely introduced to profit powerfull few ones...

Protest and oppose
And how do you think we may do so in the most civilized way?

The only way I might think of is a set of public petitions "keep your hands away from":
1. Any open source
2. Cryptography
3. True-privacy coins
4. Decentralized exchanges

And yes, 3 and 4 are probably lost already.
1 is current, 2 is potentially the next subject.

Their (regulators) latest creation is not even related to scammers, now it's about a total control over the field.

Think of it, they wish to prevent us from sharing our creations, from publishing our code!

Governmental Ban on Crypto Open Source

⭐ Merited by coupable (1)
Dear Crypto-community!

All written below is important, since our freedom is under attack! Consider it as a warning.
Many things have changed since Bitcoin Whitepaper published. Despite anonymity respect in Mr.Nakamoto times, now Cryptocurrency Exchanges ask us to provide all the information about our personality (photocopies of our IDs, selfies). Providing such personal data, we risk having our data leaked to public as result of hackers’ attacks, bad management, etc. Moreover, we all know that Cryptocurrency Exchanges forced to build KYC system on their platforms due to operating under Regulators’ pressure.

Now, the Regulators went totally nuts - they wish to ban all the OpenSource development related to cryptoccurrencies. And I think cryptography itself, probably, will be the next target.

You might think I'm writing BS, but have a look at this document - www.fca.org.uk/publication/policy/ps19-22.pdf (page 18 (p 2.38)).
Now only the Coin Center has responded to the situation – please, type "coincenter submitted comments to her majesty s treasury defending uk citizens right to develop and publish open source software" in google request field to know more.

I think it is time for everyone to be aware of that. I think it is time to react.

We must be more active. We must come up with a number of statements regarding OpenSource, crypto and privacy, and publish them on change.org. We must spread this thing among all our friends, colleagues, schoolmates, etc. We must ask them for support, because our problem someday will be their problem too. We must reach any support we could.

I am sure that some of you have better ideas. Feel free to share them. At least, please re-post this information further, so more people will be aware of the situation.

Kind regards,
Another guy from crypto-universe.

⭐ Blockchain parser bot - tracking real activity of big wallets/transactions ⭐
by
carap
on 08/04/2019, 13:37:08 UTC
Hello Everyone!

Some time ago my team created a powerful parser for the bitcoin blockchain - t.me/BTCparser3
And I would like to introduce it in the following thread  Wink

What is the purpose of BTCparser3?

First of all, this bot provides a better understanding of the key principles of the blockchain operation. It evaluates the current load on the network by the number of transactions, making conclusions on the current mood of those e whales holding huge volumes of cryptocurrency (the user is able to see the number and the value of the transactions, as well as the changes of the biggest wallets in the network). This consolidated statistical information is easier to understand than the data provided by other bots for a single block or several blocks at once.

Never try to use the statistical information provided by the bot to forecast short-term changes of the Bitcoin rate. This information is used to gain a deeper understanding of blockchain technology, and it shouldn’t be used as the basis for your trading actions and decisions.

Working principles of BTCparser3

One of the key principles of Bitcoin blockchain is its permanence. Any transaction (sending or receiving Bitcoin) will be registered in the blockchain, and after confirmation, this information can’t be edited or removed from the system. Currently, the overall size of the Bitcoin blockchain reached 190 gigabytes, and it will only increase in the future. Special parsing bots are used to find large transactions and e-wallet monitoring. These bots are used to collect required stats to process and analyze it. In the majority of cases, the bots process and provide information for individual blocks.

The key feature of BTCparser3 is the ability to consolidate the data for every 100 blocks, as well as to show additional statistical information. The bot collects information from 100 blocks and finds the wallets used to send or receive more than 1,000 BTC in total. Furthermore, BTCparser3 calculates additional statistical information for every 100 blocks. All this information is then processed and published (at least once per day) in the following Telegram channel: t.me/BTCparser3.

Advantages and disadvantages of BTCparser3

  •    Information consolidation. Unlike many other bots, BTCparser3 analyzes 100 blocks at once, without processing them one by one. This approach tracks activity of the wallets on a long-term basis. In cases where the wallet is used to make a huge amount of small transactions, but the total sum reaches 1,000 BTC during the last 100 blocks, BTCparser3 will show information about this type of wallet in the Telegram channel.
  •    General statistics. This section provides an understanding of the overall situation in the blockchain, including the of transactions. Furthermore, information about the working, as well as contributing and accumulating wallets, can be easily accessed.
  •    Tags for known addresses (e.g. ‘hot wallets’ of the biggest exchanges). Furthermore, activity for a given period of time can be tracked, understating the amount that was sent and taken from the exchange.
  •    Messages in the Telegram channel are sent around once per day, and the bot won’t send a lot of useless spam about small transactions.
  •    The biggest disadvantage of BTCparser3 is that it supports Bitcoin blockchain at the current moment.

More details about that parser, it's data formats and meanings of various statistical elements can be read in the manual, which is pinned to the top of the bot's channel.

1. When looking for a new coin I need to know whenever it is a coin or token (I don't buy tokens, I want miners since they help decentralization).

Probably I wasn't precise enough in explaining why I made this suggestion. When we are talking about privacy/security focused coins, its de-/centralization becomes an integral part of it. When I think about security I also assume the safety of my funds in the broad sense. I personally don't believe in coins that can't be mined, since it breaks the equality principle, up for me it means centralization, concentration in hands of specific group of people, issuers of that coin. IMO non-minable coins are closer to the dollar and FRS, rather than to bitcoin and crypto in general. May be it's only I who see things this way.

Probably I'm overestimating the importance of this aspect and you don't feel like adding an extra column just for that. But what if we expand it to the general column about Mining? There we can mention whenever the coin is minable, ASIC-resistant, botnet resistant, etc (or simply mention the current mining algo if any).
For example, ZCoin developers are working hard on their MTP-algo that is purposefully memory intensive making XZC ASIC/Botnet resistant.

SafeCoins, I'm interested to hear your opinion on that.

...Here is a brief summary of my first glance.   I will have to whittle away at this with everyone's help:

Hcash (HSR): https://h.cash      Decred and Dash fork...Adding Super, super dodgy ICO here, even for an overseas coins, but a lot of promises made
StealthCoin (XST): https://www.stealthcoin.com/    Added as you were posting
Crave Project (CRAVE): https://craveproject.net      Blackcoin fork, adding
Bulwark (BWK): https://bulwarkcrypto.com             Dash/PIVX fork, adding
InnovaCoin (INN): https://innovacoin.info               Another Dash fork......um..., ok...adding?
Phore (PHR): https://phore.io                                 PIVX fork....adding maybe?
Pura (PUR): https://pura.one/                                Another Dash fork......um..., ok...adding?  Maybe?
Sumokoin (SUMO): https://www.sumokoin.org/       Already added, was in wrong alphabetical order, fixed in next publication
Grin (http://grin-tech.org/)                                    Looks interesting!  Adding.  Will mostly be roadmaps
Aeon (AEON): http://www.aeon.cash/                     Early Monero fork, I had mentioned it earlier.  I may ask the community if it has any new privacy enhancements
SolarisCoin (XLR): https://solariscoin.com/              PIVX fork....adding maybe?
Pure (PURE): https://purealt.org/                            Dash fork....recent scam claims....adding...... maybe?........
Enigma (ENG): https://www.enigma.co/                 Talks about privacy but doesn't describe any privacy features? ICO Hacked  https://techcrunch.com/2017/08/24/enigma-refund/
Aion (AION): https://aion.network/                         Interesting coin, can't find any privacy features in whitepaper
Obsidian (ODN): https://obsidianplatform.com/        Interesting software, private messenger, can't find any privacy features in whitepaper that relate to cryptocurrency

Awesome work! Thank you for your analysis, I found it very useful and I assume we should move it to the top of this discussion! Together with your other revisions of suggested coins. That should help to prevent other participants from suggesting same coins again and again.

Electra (ECA) - https://electraproject.org/     While they might have atomic swapping or plans for it, I don't see anything involving privacy or anonymity?

ALQO - https://alqo.org/   While they have masternodes, I don't see anything involving privacy or anonymity?

Kore - http://kore.life/  Adding.   And I will ask their community to correct me on specific features.

SWIPP - http://www.swippcoin.com/    Hmm...dash fork?  We have a lot of those.  Does it have any of its own privacy related features that separate it from what it forked form?  I can contact the community

I think it is a great format to mention all possible numerous forks.

Are you going to list PASC again some day?
The wallet is fixed and the coin is having a great tech with unique implementation, it deserves a support from exchanges.

SafeCoins, thank you for the great work you've done! I'm a big fan of privacy coins.

May I suggest a couple of things (columns) that I personally consider important when making my investment decisions.

1. When looking for a new coin I need to know whenever it is a coin or token (I don't buy tokens, I want miners since they help decentralization).
2. What is the a maximum supply of coins.
3. Which hashing algo used (to quickly estimate whenever it is for ASIC, GPU, CPU, etc..).
4. An official website address, where more information about that coin could be found.
5. Could be helpful to also know the current price and circulating supply, but that will require a regular update (could automate with google spreadsheets, let me know if you need a script for).

*. Finally, JFYI Zcoin has a masternode.

Again, thank you for this thread!

Why haven't you mentioned the MyZenWallet (https://myzenwallet.io/ and https://github.com/ZencashOfficial/myzenwallet)?
I found it to be really useful, having an ability to generate keys from pass phrase, supporting import and export and doing all sort of things that I want by default in other wallets.

My respects to Kendrick Tan, so far, for my purposes your wallet is the best!

Today I tried to import the private key generated in Arizen to the Swing. And I haven't succeeded in doing so. There is no button in the interface of Arizen to export the private key. So you need to use some 3rd party binary editor, find a privatekey inside the file (and among other private keys) and copy it.
Why so complicated?

We urgently need a wallet encryption in Swing.
And we also need a private key export in Arizen.

These are not big deals (in terms of new lines of code) for your programmers! All the necessary libraries (like encryption libraries for wallet protection) are already there.

this lower number is good and many will create at least one node this way we will be best decentralized system
It is a fair statement, compared to other currencies. Where big investors (early buyers) own multiple nodes and maintain them within one provider (server). That doesn't add up much to the decentralization and most of network may get offline due to a hardware failure of single VPS provider.

ZEN approach is different. If someone feels like having little profit - run more nodes, simple as that. More maintenance costs will be covered by better distribution and security of separated wallets. (Easier to hack one node with 1000 coins, compared to 20 nodes of 43 coins)!

Yes Arizen supports encryption of wallet
Aha! Why haven't I heard of this before?
Thank you for this info MedaR!

For some reason this wallet is not an option on the official website. Only Swing looks official, but I don't quite like it.

Will it be possible to use Arizen as a node? I'm not sure about that, since it looks more like a JS divven wallet (my first impression, I haven't tested it yet).

My congratulations to ZCoin holders!
An of course to the ZCoin developers and team!

Finally, some investors started to think more in terms of technology.
I'm so tired of those stupid promises, adverts, and various pointless ICOs.
There is a real secure gem - XZC, that was simply overlooked. Greed makes people stupid and blind.

Now, I hope, things should change. Zcoin should beat the crown down from heads of fake privacy coins!

What about implementing wallet encryption like in most of other clients?

Seriously, I don't feel really safe running a node that will broadcast to the web, but having my wallet in plain text. Anyone who manages to get into the system (due to some exploit on wallet, OS, daemons/services) will be able to simply copy my wallet file and get my money.
Of course, for the time being it's not that much (less than 2000$ per node at current rate), but still, better do something about it before it's too late.

I believe wallet encryption is absolutely must have feature!
