Current bid is at 17BTC.

To answer questions in PM, it's currently located Louisiana, US.  I'll take pictures of it tonight and post on this thread.  Also, PSU is not included.

Looking to sell my Avalon Batch 3 device.  Getting out of mining and looking to sell my device.  Can provide any pictures you may want.  Price is open to negotiation.  I can ship anywhere with signature requirement.  Have all the original packaging (even the bubble wrap).  Reply or PM if interested.  Would like to use escrow services for the transaction.

Is it possible to run a rig using only PCI-E 1x -> 16x risers only?  I have 16x -> 16x shipping but I have 1x -> 16x right now.  Will I be able to run the rig using only the pci-e 1x slots??

Anyone else care to take a stab at this explanation?  I don't think I did it justice.

Good luck! The only exception to this might be AMD's newer APUs because the higher end ones have a somewhat decent GPU inside, but I'm still not sure it would be worthwhile.

Yeah, I'd probably wait for a review or a writeup proving their effectiveness before putting up cash to experiment.  I'm waiting for my schedule to die down to build a dedicated mining machine.

can you explain your statement? Are you saying that a CPU. or 10 CPU working in a pool will never be able to find a block? or that it would just cost too much?

The effectiveness of your hash rate is relative to everyone else mining.  CPU's pale in comparison to GPU's which pale in comparison to ASICs.  For CPUs to be viable again, you'd need to see a very significant decrease in overall hash rates.

So you are saying that it effectively a race to get to the next new block?

Something along those lines.  I don't quite fully grasp exactly what the miners are doing.  I think they are trying to guess the encryption of the next block in the blockchain and the miner that guesses correctly is rewarded 25 BTC.  That's why you always see remarks like "(if you're lucky)" when talking about mining.

Anyone else care to take a stab at this explanation?  I don't think I did it justice.

Re: Building a BitCoin Mining Rig

ASIC is the best, Where to buy I don't really know. Looking for it too Smiley because it's always limited stock so really hard to get... To build your own I think it will be hard. BTC is the main currency and worth much more than LiteCoins. It's easier to get but worth less Smiley

So if I get it right, for example:
I'll mine BitCoins 1 hour: earned 1 BitCoin> Value=100USD
I'll mine LiteCoins 1 hour: earned 4 LiteCoins> Value= 100USD

So I guess that it evens out?

Now I still want to know about buying and building BitCoin Miners with ASIC Hardware??

User btc-e.com to get spot rates for LTC.  They also do BTC/LTC conversions.

As for ASICs, your best bet is to wait for another Avalon batch as they're the only people actually shipping ASICs.  Building one yourself will take some type of electrical and software engineering know-how since ASICminer, BFL, and Avalon are basically making these computers from scratch for the very specific purpose of mining.  The technology isn't as refined nor has the history of say GPUs for example.

EDIT - Meant to say Avalon is the only company shipping ASICs right now.  I don't think BFL is a scam but you can tell they are not ran by a business savvy person and they don't have their shit together on the business side.  I'm imagining it's a bunch of geeks getting together to capitalize on a business opportunity.

Lol, just forget about that idea. Even GPU and FPGA mining is dying. CPU mining wont ever be feasible anymore

Wouldn't we see a lot of the GPU miners go to other cryptocurrencies (LTC)?  That's what I'm suspecting.  Once the ASICs are all up and running the BTC network, a lot of GPU miners will be left with a shit load of hardware so I'd suspect the difficulties of the altcoins to shoot up over the course of 2013.  Barring any critical failure of BTC of course.  It's either that or the emergence of gaming cafe's popping up everywhere.  Tongue

Re: FED to Buy Bitcoin
by

Scenario: The Federal Reserve Bank prints as much damn monopoly as they want, send the price of Bitcoin into outer-space, when they are the only remaining buyer(s), they crash the price and buy the majority of the supply. Game over.

Thoughts?

Even though the Fed isn't technically the government, if the government wanted to end the BTC ride, they would just use legislation to go after the exchanges and/or users - i.e. labeling users enemy combatants/terrorist and the exchanges as money launderers.  They wouldn't have to use economics to crush BTC at least for Americans.  Nothing is to stop other governments from doing the same and the scenario isn't ruled out right now since there is still a lot of progress to be made in terms of public adoption.

I would advise against mining with your CPU. It will not come close to hashing enough to cover the extra electricity it uses, and will generate more heat inside your case, in turn heating up your GPU which could cause it to throttle or at the very least shorten it's lifespan.

Ah thanks.  I was wondering about that.  I'll probably shut down the CPU mining and see if I can squeeze more speed out of the GPU to make up for it.

I thought this would have come up already, but a search didn't bring up a topic on this.  Are there any disadvantages to CPU and GPU mining on the same rig?  My CPU is pretty idle when just GPU mining so I started cpu mining as well.  Am I robbing myself of precious Mh/s by doing this?  My GPU didn't take a hit but I haven't found optimal settings for my hardware yet.

price will stop rising when gox verified queue shrinks

Here is someone with a brain! Smiley

Is there a place we can see the current queue for gox verification?  When I did it 4 weeks ago, I started at something like 2000.  But I've heard it gotten as high as 8000.  Any place we can see what the current queue is?  Save for making a new account of course.

Re: BITCOIN IS TOO SLOW TO EVER SUCCEED AS ONLINE CURRENCY

This is ludicrous.  I had to wait 2-3 days for a wire transfer to clear.  I have to wait 2-3 days for my direct deposit paycheck to clear.  Same with credit cards.  Gas I bought 2 days ago is still "pending" at the hold rate.  That's a 100USD hold for a 40USD tank of gas.

Do you have to buy bitcoins first? or will btc-e allow you to buy litecoins with USD?

You can buy with USD.  No need to convert to BTC first.

Re: LTC vs BTC Mining

http://www.litecoinpool.org/calc

ASIC for LTC will not appear unless LTC becomes as successful as BTC.

LTC ASIC's will appear when it becomes profitable for someone to design, manufacture, and sell an LTC ASIC

I agree with both - one leads to the other.  I think only a critical failure of BTC will stop the ASICs from coming out.

Yes, ASIC will arrive in LTC once BTC's demand is met..

What demand are you speaking of specifically?  The demand for ASICs miners?  The public's demand for BTC?  All of the above?   Tongue
