Re: [ANN] Cinni | PoS | Encrypted Messaging | Privacy | No premine
by

Let us observe some facts.

1.  The Cinni wallet will not sync.  I have been trying for 2 days now, and I am still only 25% done.  I have closed and reopened the wallet dozens of times, and it still sticks/stalls.  Absolutely nobody wants to wait weeks/months for a wallet to sync - nor do they want to go digging through forums for possible solutions which may or may not work.

2.  A wallet that won't sync is a useless wallet.

3. A useless wallet = NO wallet.

4.  Mintpal, cinnicoin's largest exchange, recently suffered an attack which caused panic to spread among their users - many of whom (myself included) began to remove their funds from the exchange.

5.  Many cinni holders who heretofore trusted mintpal to store their coins, had not downloaded a local cinni wallet.  However, after the attack their trust in mintpal was shaken, so they attempted to set up local wallet for safe storage of their coins, only to discover that cinni has no wallet.

6.   Predictably, these investors became frustrated with cinnicoin, and sold them off for something that did have a working wallet and which could be safely transferred out of mintpal.  Naturally, the price plummeted (although it could have and SHOULD HAVE gone much lower).

8.  Many people have offered up many theories about the dev and his intentions - however none of these people offered any hard verifiable evidence to support them.

9.  A theory which is submitted without solid supporting evidence may be discarded without consideration.

Q & A:

Does this coin have some problems right now?
Yes.

Is the coin DEAD?
No.

Can it come back?
Certainly.

Will it come back, and if so, When?
I don't know.

Did the dev plan this all along, abandon the coin, and is he part of some conspiracy to steal all of your money?

Probably not.

I hope this helps to settle some nerves on this thread.  Jeesh.

This coin is going to continue to plummet at least until the wallet/syncing/blockchain issues are addressed.  Microsell what you have and buy back in cheaper.

Re: [ANN] [SHIBE] SHIBECoin PoS * v2 * New Devteam * TRADE ON: BITTREX/POLONIEX

To all those people who withdrew shibes from bittrex or poloniex to an address generated by their old wallet:

Do not fret - your coins are still accessible - provided you have a backup of your old wallet.dat from the previous shibe wallet.

Follow these steps:

IF YOU HAVE NOT YET INSTALLED THE NEW WALLET:

1 - Before installing the new wallet, open your old wallet, access the console by clicking help -> debug window -> console
2 - type dumpprivkey where shibecoinaddress is the address you used to withdraw your coins to the new blockchain.  It will return a series of characters - copy and paste these into notepad or another text editor of your choice.
3 -  Rename the ShibeCoin folder in your C:\Users\%YourUserName%\AppData\Roaming to shibecoin_old (may be case sensitive, so just add '_old' to the end)
4 - Run the new wallet and let it sync
5 - go to console and type validateaddress
where address is the address from your old wallet - same as step 2.  Should return:  isvalid:true ismine:false - as long as isvalid:true - you are golden
6 - In console, type:  'importprivkey [label]' - this is the string you copied in step 2 - label is optional
7 -  Repeat step 5 - should now show "isvalid:true ismine:true"
8 - wait and you should see the transaction appear - if not, try closing client and running with -rescan

IF YOU HAVE INSTALLED THE NEW WALLET AND HAVE A BACKUP OF THE OLD

1 - Close all running shibe clients
2 - Go to C:\Users\%YourUserName%\AppData\Roaming and rename the shibecoin folder to shibecoin_new
3 - Run the old wallet - wait for it to open, then close it
4 - Go to C:\Users\%YourUserName%\AppData\Roaming\shibecoin and replace wallet.dat with the old wallet.dat file from your old wallet - reopen the OLD wallet
5 - type dumpprivkey where shibecoinaddress is the address you used to withdraw your coins to the new blockchain.  It will return a series of characters - copy and paste these into notepad or another text editor of your choice.
6 - Go to C:\Users\%YourUserName%\AppData\Roaming and rename the shibecoin folder to shibecoin_old.
7 - C:\Users\%YourUserName%\AppData\Roaming and rename the ShibeCoin_new to Shibecoin (may be case sensitive, so just remove the _new)
8 - Run the new client, and let it sync.
9 - Go to console and type validateaddress
where address is the address from your old wallet - same as step 5.  Should return:  isvalid:true ismine:false - as long as isvalid:true - you are golden
10 - In console, type:  'importprivkey [label]' - this is the string you copied in step 5 - label is optional
11 - Repeat step 9 - should now show "isvalid:true ismine:true"
12 - Wait and you should see the transaction appear - if not, try closing client and running with -rescan

I made this mistake and was able to retrieve my coins using the steps above.  I hope this helps those in a similar circumstance who may have made the same mistake.

Cheers,

Deadley:

Hi there, I had the same problem and was able to get it resolved.  Below is a step by step guide which I think will help you.  Please understand that it was written for a complete noob, which you may or may not be, but any successful set of instructions must assume an audience of beginners.  I am making no judgment regarding anyone's level of tech knowledge or intelligence.  That said, let us begin.

Step 1:  Back up the contents shibecoin profile folder.  If you are a windows user, this file is located in C:\Users\%Yourusername%\AppData\Roaming\ShibeCoin.  Bear in mind that some of the folders are hidden by default, so you may need to adjust your folder view options.  The most important file in this folder is wallet.dat. This is the file which contains the keys to access your coins.  If it is lost or deleted, your coins are likely gone forever.  Period.  MAKE CERTAIN THAT YOU HAVE BACKED UP THE CONTENTS OF THIS FOLDER, ESPECIALLY WALLET.DAT, TO A SAFE LOCATION BEFORE PROCEEDING TO STEP 2.

Step 2:  Re-read step 1, word for word and slowly.  Ensure that your wallet.dat and other files are safely backed up to a location that you will remember.  You will most likely not need most of these files - wallet.dat is the important one.  If you are unsure if you have been successful, make another backup by following step 1.  If you are still unsure or confused, abort mission and seek more help on the forums, otherwise proceed to step 3.

Step 3:  Repeat Step 2.

Step 4:  Navigate back to the shibecoin roaming profile folder.  Rename it to something else or delete it.

Step 5:  Ensure that you have the latest shibecoin client.  The newest release is 0.7.7.  If you are unsure, you can always redownload the latest client, replacing the old .exe with the new.  No backup needed for that.

Step 6:  Open the new client and wait for it to sync.  Your balance will be 0.

Step 7:  Close the client, and navigate back to the shibecoin profile folder.  You will see that it has re-appeared.  Replace and overwrite the new wallet.dat file with the original wallet.dat from your backup.

Step 8:  Run the client with the -rescan -salvagewallet switches.  The easiest way to do this if you are a windows user is to 1 - create a desktop shortcut to the client by right-clicking on the shibecoin-qt.exe file and select send to->desktop (create shortcut) 2 - go to your desktop, right click on the newly created shortuct and select properties 3- In the "Target" field within the "Shortcut" tab, add the following without quotes right after shibecoin-qt.exe:  "-rescan -salvagewallet", so that it looks something like this: '\%somefile%\%somefile%\shibecoin-qt.exe -rescan -salvagewallet' (no quotes).  Click Apply and OK.

Step 9:  Double click the shortcut, wait for the wallet to re-scan and you should start accumulating stake.

Step 10:  Rejoice.

Please let me know if you are successful.  Good luck my friend.

Hello everyone - I received some information from the dev team regarding the slow blockchain, and am sharing it below:

It is taking a long time for the next block to be generated. We're still not seeing enough people staking, which we need for network stability at this point. We also have a ton of people on the old wallet, as the devs can see them trying to connect to the nodes. Unfortunately, everyone needs to be on the new wallet since the nodes block those that aren't. If you can help us spread the word and get people to update their wallets, then leave them open and unlocked it would really help move things along.

I hope this helps.

The official website is averaging over 700 unique hits per day - so there is definitely interest in the coin.

Nerd,

If you are a windows user, the wallet.dat folder is located in C:\Users\%yourusername%\AppData\Roaming\Pandacoin

Please note that some of these folders are hidden by default, so you will need to adjust your folder view settings.  Hope this helps.

Rewt -

Looks like I owe you a public apology - I see the transaction in the blockchain.  It appears the problem lies with my wallet at another exchange.  I am going to delete this thread, but before I do I will acknowledge my error in the forum.  I apologize for this misunderstanding - it was my fault and not yours.  Please accept my apology, as this was an honest mistake  with no malice intended.

Hi Nerd -

Try re-syncing your wallet, sounds like a corrupt block database.  Be sure to make a backup of your wallet.dat first.

As a warning to fellow users who may be using or considering using openex.pw, I would like to inform the community that I made a substantial withdrawal from that exchange which was deducted from my trading account, but never sent to my withdrawal address.  The coins are now missing, presumably in the possession of openex.pw.  Multiple help tickets and inquiries to support have gone unanswered.

The withdrawal in question was initiated by me on 2/16/2014 at 9:00AM EST, and confirmed by me via email a few minutes thereafter.

I would strongly advise fellow traders to avoid this exchange.

Cordially submitted,

CCE

Hello,

If there are any openex admins on this board, would you please advise as to the procedure for withdrawing one's coins from openex?  I have initiated and confirmed withdrawals that have not arrived.  Multiple support tickets have gone unanswered.

Any help would be appreciated.  Thanks.

Thank you all for the reply.  No I do not and have never used bots.  I thought about using google or babelfish to write them in russian, but I was worried in would come across just as garbled as their responses!  Howver, at this point, I have nothing to lose!

A word of warning about BTC-E - FUNDS STOLEN!
by

Dear forum members,

I write to share my negative experience with btc-e, specifically how I am locked out of my account and unable to access my funds.  I have been a user for about 3 months without issue, however on 7/2 I attempted login as I normally do using my standard credentials which are stored in my browser, and was greeted with an "Invalid email" message.  I tried several times to re-enter the email and password with the same result.  At that point I attempted to change my password using the forgot password link.  This was successful, and the btc-e confirmation email showed up in the account without issue, this being the same email that the login system states is invalid.

I contacted btc-e support and opened tickets using their new helpdesk system.  The support team thus far has been absolutely useless.  Every so often, I get an indecipherable reply that makes no sense whatsoever.  This is ostensibly due to a language barrier.   It has been 72 hours and I am still locked out - with absolutely no help from btc-e support.  Please bear in mind that this is not a password issue, the system simply doesn't recognize my email address, the same address I have always used, and the same address where the change password emails were sent and successfully received.

I submit this to warn others so that they do not find themselves in this position with their coins/fiat currency stolen.  BTC-E is not a trustworthy trading platform.

Was I hacked?  Perhaps.  However it does not make sense then that i would still be able to change my password!

Good luck all.
