This is quite a mess indeed. First thing that needs to be done is make it easy for new users to come and use the wallet. Is it possible to put together a download that includes all the current blocks up to date for the wallet so we can avoid this sync issue?

Next thing we need all the pools to be mining on the same chain. I emailed some of them and the only one that replied to me was the nice chap over at dedicated pools. Bitember did not even need to be contacted as they sorted theirs out themselves in a timely manner. The rest have not replied to my email about the issue so my only advice for now is to avoid those pools for mining volt until we get this cleared up.

I can see that a few people have lost some coins in this mess... I am not so sure if there will be a way to recover 100% of all the lost coins but there may be a chance at doing a transaction recovery that I read somewhere in the cent/pennies threads. Check the razorlove thread for foobar and pennies etc. Some people there had some commands that could be put into the wallet to try and recover lost transactions. Not sure if that will work in this case, I am no expert on wallets and code, but its definitely worth a try.

If these issues can be fixed and we see a bit of stability in the coming months then I will be more than happy to put my computer hardware shop online to accept volt as payment exclusively. Someone else said earlier in this thread that mining another profitable coin and trading for volt would be a better idea to attract more volume and new miners. Seems like a great idea to me but personally I will probably do a 50/50 split on my machines with half on volt and half on another coin and trade in for volt.

Also as the others said, getting a solid community together is a must. If there are any other people that would like to offer services or e-commerce for volt or have any other ideas to support the coin and help it move forward I can be contacted on freenode IRC in channel #ccwirral

Volt News: Brought to you by ccwirral.

1: We are working on getting a fork to add the kimoto gravity well to this coin. That should give us some stability for natural growth in both hashrate and price.

2: Once no1 has been finished up work is going to be started on opening an online shop that accepts volt. This will start small with things like risers, cooling fans and other small easily shipped items internationally. (We are based in the UK, but will try and discount enough so its worth it for all you USA and other international people).

3: If no2 has enough interest we will look to grow that shop into selling mining capable graphics cards, motherboards and other equipment with just enough margin so we can make a profit and also keep it cheap enough to keep everyone interested.

4: Here in the UK a few of us are working together to build a scrypt farm to secure the hashrate of many different altcoins with a lot of those machines being dedicated to making money for charitable causes. We will be starting work on this in the summer and aim to start with 100 mh/s building up to 1 gh/s then to 10 gh/s over the next year. Some of these hashes will be dedicated to volt to make sure the coin does not "die".

5: People have been discussing giveaways in this thread for some time so I will take it upon myself to start a few small giveaways from my own stash of volt and will be looking for donations towards any any further giveaways. If any big holders want to get involved to help promote the coin that would be greatly appreciated.

So thats whats been in the works on my end for the time being. if anyone else has any ideas or suggestions for the future of volt feel free to get involved. If you have been holding volt and are getting a little worried about the price drop on cryptorush etc just treat it as a medium-long term holding coin while we get things up and running.

Besides, the low price has put off the big multipool hashrate that was dominating the coin supply for a while, so this temporary low price is a blessing in disguise in my opinion as it is now viable to mine volt again.

I let this guy use my login details for a pool when it was under heavy lag and he could not add workers in time. It all went very well and the coins got sent to my wallet and then I split them and sent them back on. So +1 to both of us.

Voted 2% because it is for a good cause. And because I have faith in people. Conflicting opinions on this may be valid but I think the risks are requirement of rewards in the right places. Will be watching this closely.

I'm thinking sell some properties i got.. maybe i can made 10 rig (6 x 7970 hd single rig), can i be millionare in December, 2014? Forgget about the electricity that is not a problem for me.

Pay no attention to the haters.

Yes you will absolutely be a $$$ Millionaire with that set up, probably by Early August if you start today!

Oh and pre-order as many Scrypt Asics as you can, I would pre-order with all of the companies who have posted!

You might even contact BFL and see if they will let you pre-order a Scrypt Asic!

~BCX~
No sarcastic comments. Someone new could take that seriously.

Not sure if sarcasm, but still you are right either way. Tera do a LOT of research before you invest in anything! I have a few success stories gambling on low diffifculty altcoins for scrypt mining with graphics cards. There is still time but be careful with what you decide to do and make sure you ask a lot of questions and read a lot of forum posts so you can learn what you are doing! Best of luck.

Flashy corporate like gimmicks and vague buzzwords are not what crypto-currencies are about quite frankly. A little more transparency with identity and a more robust outline of what you are trying to achieve would make you look less like some kind of ex Enron middle management type.

Has anyone looked into if this "new client" might create a fork situation yet? Probably not the case but my gut instinct feels like there is some kind of misleading motive behind this or even possibly a scam. I will let someone more informed in those kind of things be the judge of that anyway.

Either way, like others have pointed out, this little "debate" is damaging the reputation and integrity of the coin.

Scrypt based coins are useful for low end gpu miners or the "average joe" type miner if you will. Most people dont have much of a chance to mine the sha based coins with all the new asic technology coming out faster than ever before.

There are fpgas in the works for scrypt based mining but as far as I know there are no asics just yet. This leaves a fairer game for newcomers to crypto currency.

Whether they are premined or not it is what is done aftwards that really proves a coins worth if it stays around and grows an economy and services to compliment it. It is still early days to give a full answer to which coins are going to be long term and which ones arent.

Remember in your show to be speculative towards which coins may or may not be "scam coins" and be objective in your evidence towards it otherwise you will upset a lot of supporters for each coin. Whether it be support through greed or interest in the coins future you dont want to alienate any listeners like that.

This ones going to take a lot of research Wink
