Hey guys. Some of you may already know me some of you may not.

I have been buying and HODLing DVC for a while and am now done buying at the moment. I love this coin and what it represents and will be here with this coin till the end.

My question to you guys is:

what is your thoughts regarding the new coin EMC2 (Einsteinium)?

It is going to help the science world just like DVC helps fund open source work around the world.

here is a link to the thread : https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=494708.0

Please share your ideas, thoughts and concerns about this coin as I look up to many people on this thread and would love to hear what you guys think.

Thanks.

 Smiley

Its interesting but its assumed value will ways go up.. what happens to miners if value crashes.. they stop mining? With dvc we get mining from bitcoin and its free essentially.. we are using more of that mining to support any development work rather than just science so its more broad.. in the future imagine that many open source businesses or portals thru which profit is created
yet providing service fight for devcoin shares.. with 2% of
1 coin hard to give incentive to fight for that.. you need tangible amounts of coins dispursed to create real demand.

Thanks for your point of view. I'd still like to hear what some others here think about EMC2
I'm not a sciencist, I'm a developer and a writer, with Devcoin I'm feeling the freedom of do everything I want/enjoy and be payed for it, at same time I'm contributing in some way to create a better world following the things I think are better without a votation system and without being a scientific man.
The share part is the way Devcoin beats your coin.

Maybe I'm the first person to take the question seriously, the answer is:

you can join devtome, write something and earn a few DVCs monthly (then change them for BTCs)

Same credibility as if I say Satoshi Nakamoto is an Alien...

Satoshi Nakamoto first started working on the Bitcoin protocol in 2007 when he was 53 years old. As many of you suspected, he didn't work on it alone, but rather received assistance from a few others. His real name isn't Satoshi Nakamoto, but it's very similar, both in amount of letters in first and last name, as well as syllables.. Bitcoin wasn't meant to be as huge and well established as it today, was more of a quirky "project" at the time, and was actually modeled after the U.S Dollar, but since he meant for it to be entirely virtual, this made it decentralized(Also why Bitcoin is not 100$ anonymous aka Public Ledger). He's also Japanese American.

Many of you are asking, why didn't/doesn't Satoshi use the vast amount of Bitcoin's he has? Well the answer is simple, he's a modest type of guy, not into being famous, and receiving too much attention.(He does indeed has a Bitcoin account as of right now, though of course none of you know it's him..) Plus he suspected that being in control of that many Bitcoins would devalue his "project" in the eyes of others, particularly when Bitcoin was just released to the public. Besides, he's official "retired" now, and I can assure you, his salary before retirement was well over $100,000. Ftw, retirement fund.

Anyway, that's a small amount of info on Satoshi Nakamoto(alias). You might be interested in where I got this information from. Well let's just say I'm his peer(If you're reading this, you owe me Smiley)

*I also intentionally left out some information, can't tell you guys everything sorry*

Hope this clears up at least some confusion on the subject.

Hola!

Hello!

I made a business plan involving Devcoins, if this work as expected, it will increase the value of Devcoins because the demand will rise, and the offer of other cryptos will grow, and only using one browser game.

I want to postulate the project as a "Mining Business"

The plan is here: http://www.devtome.com/doku.php?id=thardferr_business_plan

The project itself would take a lot of time, so I propose to give some shares for develop it further (Maybe counting the developer in the Open Source Share list) and some others for keep the project running.

This is eligible for the last six share investment plan bounty.  What is your DVC address?

The Devcoin Bounty page has been updated with the cryptocurrency convention speaker bounty, the devcoin payment processor bounty, the first mined block with sidhujag's daemon bounty, and the Blisterpool testing bounty.  Please visit the site and verify that the aforementioned bounties are all accurate.

Hello!

I sent you a PM regarding the "Hunterbunter Pool Testing (Blisterpool)" I think I'm the first one to fulfill the duty!

Edit: I sent the PM to somebody else, I sent you a message regarding the mining Business bounty, anyway I'm sending you a PM regarding the pool now.

Sorry for triple posting, I have set up a Devcoin chat room here: http://devcoinproject.com/index.php/devcoin-chatroom

It is IRC, so the channel can be accessed with any client. (The web page just makes it simpler.)

The idea being somewhere to communicate/discuss devcoin related projects. Enjoy Smiley

I am also happy to put up chat rooms for those of you will projects under way, as a communication tool if it is any use. PM me if this is any use to you.

There is a #devcoin channel on Freenode IRC too, has been for long long long time though I guess the first few years hardly anyone was using it.

-MarkM-

EDIT: Re devcoin ports, they default to a standard, no need to specify them in a config unless using other than those defaults.

Ok, I changed the config to default and restarted the server, now all should go fine.

Re: Devtome Bounty -> Node
by
cdelatorref
on 09/02/2014, 14:16:21 UTC
Hello!
I mounted a DVC node in a VPS with the address:

http://95.85.36.199

I also installed Wordpress to have a nice cms and I put the live stats of the node in the widget area (looks cool!)

I saw in Devtome at the bounty page (http://www.devtome.com/doku.php?id=devcoin_bounty_now) they want more nodes and I'm willing to help.

http://www.devtome.com/doku.php?id=how_to_create_a_devcoin_node_in_a_vps_for_noobs

My question is if I did the setup correctly to be considered? or I need to do something more?

Contact Markm, he'll tell you what is needed and add you to his node list. Until I hear otherwise, I'll assume that your node is working correctly and give you 2/5 of a share as long as it's working. Web wallets can not account for generation devcoins, is your address 1DJb19DHi23yaWXfbGP8fKCxMSizyAiN7X from your computer?

In a private message you wrote "The URL is: http://95.85.36.199:6333"

That is not the normal/correct port for devcoin, so is not going to work as a seed node I am pretty sure.

I am rpetty sure the seed nodes work - or at least used to work - by assuming the hostname or IP address hard-coded into the code will have a daemon running at the normal standard port. So the seeds list lists only the IP addresses or hostnames I think.

-MarkM-

EDIT: It occurs to me too that this might cause people who try to use non-standard ports to have trouble finding connections, since it seems quite likely that whatever port they configure their node to use will end up being the port that all the seed hosts will be assumed to be using.

Of course the new clients are based on new bitcoin code so maybe they long ago fixed this potential problem, maybe it'd only apply to the ancient code I am used to.

I'll check it, please tell me what port I should be using for devcoin to modify the .config

Re: Blisterpool - bitcoin and devcoin mining pool
by

Thanks for the excellent pool, finally we have such a pool that pays out devcoins!

I immediately switched my 3G hash/s miner to your pool and everything seems fine with cgminer. then I goto your page at blisterpool.com, and try to register with my bitcoin and devcoin address, but it shows a message "VALIDATION_ERROR: 'module' object has no attribute 'Validate'". something wrong with the page? or should I do something more? Also, I see the "Stats" Column writing "Coming Soon", I think it should be implemented first, 'cause people don't like throw their hash power into a pool which cannot observe the mining status instantly Smiley

Hey again, I saw your miner hop back on when the pool was back up...did you find the pool stats page at the top? (http://blisterpool.com/stats ) That shows how much is going through by bitcoin address if you scroll down. It's just a basic open-source front end for the p2pool, not very fancy, but I still have to dive into the p2pool data to figure out how it's actually storing stuff so I can give better stats and figure out the bonus payouts etc.

Also, I noticed you got a p2pool share this morning, yay! It means I have something to work with for the bonus payout scripts.

Ok!
Looks like I'm finally mining, I tried up since yesterday and finally I'm mining with the 139jTYFSBed77zXwtZMtVSrMgyYBXF8Fxr Address, the pool is nice looking and I love the way it looks, the part I really liked is you can put your BTC adress as username, one thing I recommend to improve is an optional e-mail when you register yourself to obtain pool related news and announcements.
The 1% fee looks fair to me, and the graphical design is far superior from the standard merged pools, I liked you are mining merged coins with BTC, but I suggest you make them visible, like you say: "We are mining NMC, IXC..."
I think at first you should distribute randomly some DVC (given by community) to the miners to attract them to the pool.

Awesome, I can see you in the database, but the server stats don't seem to be registering any hash from your address (http://blisterpool.com/stats - click graph and scroll down to miners). Emfox's address got a share / payout so I know that's working ok (yay). I've got my miner on there on the 17ep6P address but it's only an old 6990 so not very much power; it's on the graphs too.

That's a good idea with the email list, I'll add that too.

I thought it might have been a bit confusing listing all the merge mined coins on the front page, because those are mostly what I'm using to produce the devcoins. I do have them listed here: http://www.blisterpool.com/BP/method but do you still think I should put them on the front page? Thanks for your feedback btw Smiley. My OCD is wondering where your hashes are going, though, was it you that had the block erupter? I wonder if it needs special settings.

Is there a way to see all ratings, by user?  It seems tedious to go through every rating page.

I agree this would be useful...I'll see if I can whip up something on dvccountdown.
My miner was doing weird things, I'm finally mining correctly =)

Thanks, I changed something and made a bug, fixed it now Smiley.

The pool is up again, but I'm not sure how stable it is yet. Been fighting with it all day, but it seems...better. It's worth giving it a shot again, but please bear with me while I iron out the bugs.

@Sidhujag: Devcoind is being a pain atm, all of a sudden it keeps terminating for no good reason. Not sure if it's a hardware problem or what, but it's driving me a little nuttybear. I'm recompiling from source now...do I need to redownload the block chain or can I use existing data?

At first it was just opening and closing connections really frequently (as if it couldn't find any nodes it was happy with), before silently terminating. I added dvcstable01 as a node and it seemed to last longer (and did more non-i'm-not-happy stuff), but eventually it gave up and died too. P2Pool was refused connection to the daemon with this error:  Error while calling merged getauxblock on http://127.0.0.1:52332/: I don't know if that means anything to you.

EDIT: hmm the recompile didn't seem to change anything. Doing a -reindex now. It seemed to only get 2-3 connections (been happening only today) and then just dies. Is there a list of other seed nodes anywhere?

Does this error from the debug.log mean anything?

Ok, I'm not mining now, my user is (139jTYFSBed77zXwtZMtVSrMgyYBXF8Fxr)
But I can't connect right now, I'll be keeping trying, when I do, I'll share my thoughts
 Wink
Hey all,

I've set up a p2pool at blisterpool.com:9332. With something like cgminer you can connect to: ./cgminer blisterpool.com:9332 -u -p x -any other settings

It'll automatically select stratum, I believe (it did for me), but I'd appreciate any feedback on this.
..
I've got a basic front end up and running, and I'm ready to start testing my algorithms to begin automating it. If you're a bitcoin miner with decent hash power, I'd appreciate it if you could throw a few hash my way to build the pool and start getting some bonus devcoin payouts. Even if you don't have much hash power but want something devcoiny to throw it at, you can connect to the pool and you should still get a share of something. If any miners wish to donate their devcoins to the developers, all they have to do is not register on the site and just connect using their bitcoin address to get the bitcoins, and the devcoins will go to the developers (they will be sent on top of the 0.2% figure).

Feel free to ask any questions.

Please try this pool out, the first person who mines at this pool and makes a post of at least 50 words will get 4 shares. The second 3 shares, the third 2 shares, and the last 1 share.

Thanks UTB,

The server is currently going through teething pains, as I was lucky enough to get one with bad ram which they're fixing atm.  Will get it up again asap.
