Absolutely. And it looks like they will be doing it shortly, so I don't see a problem with it. Your customers are not facing any more downside than you are, they preordered and changed their mind, they can wait some time before getting their money back independently of time being money due to their gambling addiction. I wait a couple of months all the time for my own refunds. I sometimes even process refunds and never had anyone complaining if it wasn't done right away because of time being money. They were just happy they got their money back. Some of those refunds had been sitting on a shelf for a good couple of months before I got to them, same story as here, I was busy with more important things.

Also, I'm assuming we are talking about 3 weeks here, two months would be getting a bit much. I honestly have no idea.

From my point of view, you, and customers asking for refunds after their hardware has been manufactured in general, are a liability. When manufacturing something you need to part with your money months before having hardware in hand. You most likely will try to part with only as much money as it is going to end up making you money, so you will use customer preorders to gauge how many units need to be in the batch. A customer asking for a refund after the order is sent to the CM and before it is delivered creates a cashflow problem. It's easy to see how that problem could become very critical if you don't have deep pockets and if you can't swiftly resell the cancelled units.

Hey GPUHoarder, thanks for the insightful posts. What chips would you use with 2-3x the LUTs for the same cost? Wouldn't smaller chips have a much lower frequency too? Downloading a table from Digikey the best I can get is a lattice LFE5U-85F-6BG554C; $0.4/kLUT, probably 0.60 by the time you add board assembly power etc. Without the 6-inputs LUT and at a much lower frequency. Reballed Virtex chips maybe?

I've spent the day looking at overpriced FPGAs and randomly ended up in this forum, an old love affair of mine, where I see chips digikey markets for 40k sold at 3k.

I'm not sure what is more crazy between what happened to this place in the last couple of years, how I missed out on all of it, Xilinx's margins on chips, the 90%+ discounts, 2112's memorable posts in this thread (I just binge-read all of it), getting paypal on the phone in 4 hours on a Saturday, or anything else really. It was a fun read, thank you.

I haven't followed this forum in like forever, so I'm not sure about whatever or not, apart from the other two trolls I remember about, your posts usually have rationale in them, but it's sad you agreeing with them, ImI. Among other things, the petitioners petitioned for chapter 7, not 11. HashCrap then waited until the last day to ask for a chapter 11 conversion, so that they could start sucking whatever was left out of the dead corpse. But yes, the scammers are not at fault, it's the petitioners. Jeez. Sad.

It only means that one of the scammers will have to return a payment and not get a windfall out of it as he liked to put it. I would be surprised if even part of that money found it's way back to the customers.

The read only archive is the only thing left, I was hoping to generate interest to have people post in the "local" categories, but I think that bitcoin.com/bitco.in are already funnelling the users interested in a better forum and even if they are not doing a perfect job it's still probably a bad idea to compete.
