As the title (and first post) now shows - I've added back an SG node for mining in Singapore
I've also added an alias of us.kano.is to point to stratum.kano.is in case anyone tries to mine to us.kano.is Smiley
Mine on!

Hi Kano-san, thanks for updating the info.  Did you intentionally disable ping to "sg.kano.is"?  When i try to ping, it gives me a timeout but nonetheless, tracetcp to port 3333 gives me 40ms which still looks very good compared to jp which is 50ms for me!  Awesome!  Will give the SG a try, but just wanted to give you heads up that icmp for sg node is blocked... or if you intentionally did this, no worries.  Just checking out as to some might not know how to confirm connection.
Yeah you can't ping them - there's nothing I can do about it either.
AWS LightSail doesn't have the option to enable ICMP
Yeah this is AWS so hopefully way more reliable than the old SG server that I got rid of due to having problems with it 3 days in a row back in Jan

However, going via SG is not ideal if you are close to another node.
In your case - only being 10ms difference, use JP first.

ow, thanks for the advice! moving back to jp.. lol

Hi Kano-san, or anyone from the team, i wanted to promote the pool via a personal blog post, but before i can do that, i need to fully grasp the idea on how we run.  Question, how do we calculate the "expected" blocks.  I assume it is based on the pool hash rate, but is there such a formula to it?  Please help to clarify on how we exactly get the total number of expected blocks as from what i can see, when pool hash increases, our expected block should increase since we need more blocks to reach the 100% expected target.  Or in other words, the more miners here, we are expected to hit more blocks in order to balance the share per hash of expected 100%.

Thank you in advance!

OK to try get a few more to join like those in the last couple of days ...

Anyone in the 2PH to 5PH range also gets a 0.2 bonus under the condition of the rules Smiley

Very good gesture Kano-san, THANK YOU for helping the community to grow!  Did anyone already get his/her 1st 1BTC from the promo?  Just curios... referring to sidewinder, as seems it was only him who should have qualified when he found the block a few blocks ago....is he even checking this forum?
I've spoken to sidewinder - he was well above the limit when he found the block.
We've not decided yet - he wants more large miners too - better for him if he's not the only one high up there Smiley

Good to know!  Thanks for the update Kano-san!

Just to manage expectations out there for those still ramping up, if you've been mining here this whole block (<~200%), and we crack this thing soon, your payout might "seem" less than you're expecting if you don't have a strong understanding of how the 5Nd works. (Maybe Padrinogtr can explain it to you Grin)

Just have faith in the fact that we all wouldn't have stuck around after the delayed gratification of the ramp up period if it wasn't worth it. Plus, you don't lose anything during the ramp up.

Trust me: It pays to mine here. Cool

Congratulations on the recent lucky streak...
If you mined at Kano since August of 2017 you are now ONLY THIRTY-FIVE  (35) BLOCKS BEHIND 100% expectancy.
If you mined since Oct you are ONLY NINETEEN (19) BLOCKS BEHIND 100% expectancy
Ha funny - trying to scare people with incomplete statistics Cheesy Cheesy
Now try comparing the numbers with your favourite PPS pool Cheesy

Top "Block Statistics" table shows the 'over time' average results for the pool Smiley
... and there's only one in there that's below 100% PAPPS - 100 blocks - ~6 months.

Code:
PAPPS%
Last 5 Blocks 7.4days 163.74%
Last 10 Blocks 19.0days 146.99%
Last 25 Blocks 11.5wks 105.10%
Last 50 Blocks 20.6wks 110.39%
Last 100 Blocks 26.6wks 88.97%
Last 250 Blocks 38.0wks 100.96%
Last 500 Blocks 57.2wks 114.27%
Last 1000 Blocks 86.2wks 104.12%
All - Last 2219 Blocks 182.7wks 105.83%

See, when you don't understand what the numbers mean, you make stupid posts like you have Smiley

You wont find a single PPS pool that's paid over 105% for the past 3.5 years.
Or how about over 114% for the past year and a bit Smiley
You will, however, find them who have paid over 89% for the past 6 months though Smiley

The number go up and down, obviously, it's called ... a big word for you to read up about ... random.

Nice Kano-san!  Thank you sooo much!  I now understand bec of this post what is the purpose of PAPPS!

So in general, we only have to hope for a block found every month and hope for that expected 100% to be hit.

I think that is a bit pessimistic - its more like a block every few days right now.  March has found 9, and its only the 20th.

lol i would guess he is trying to refer to the blocks PER month column resulting in 100% i cant imagine how bad a luck % we would have if we only found 1 block per month lol. me i start to get alittle cranky after 72 hours :/.

Referring to the MONTHLY STATISTICS > LUCK %

From what i understand, it was always mentioned in the thread that luck always evens out and goes back to a 100%.
So looking at JAN + FEB + current MAR, were actually already at 96% luck which is now almost 100% so the FEB death month should have already been almost covered by now with the earnings from JAN - MAR (including the FEB death month).

Again, just want to set expectation to newbies that it wont be fast... but KANOPOOL is still the best pool alive with this very active community we have  Cheesy

Hi, I am new here and have Newbie questions...
...If unlucky, we have to endure and shoulder some electricity cost and hope the next month will get lucky to cover up the current month and the next month.  Its just this cycle here in kanopool...
Sorry if it sounds like I'm splitting hairs here, but I only bring a mere ~3.5THs to the pool, and I still cover my electricity costs.

You may consider a bad month like February "electricity laundering", but, hey, any month that I can exchange electricity for Bitcoin gives me an opportunity to make more than the USD I paid my electric with.

I know this puts a positive spin on things; however, the fact remains that if you look at MinerGain.com, you'll see it's still more profitable here than the big pools like Slush.

Never forget that big, corporate pool miners pay a premium for daily payouts!

Mine on with Kano!

Exactly my point, the Feb death month...  Cheesy
This is just to set an expectation to new joiners that not all are good months but in generall all in all, as what all people here say and after my personal experience, kanopool is still the best.  Just have to set the expectations that there are months that what we call are sloOOow..  Cheesy

So my Feb earnings vs expenses.
I was fully ramped up until we got the feb 600% block.. ouch... for the whole month of feb, 1 X S9 fully ramped up only got me around 0.0187XXX BTC.
Feb 28 BTC closed at around 10,200 USD.  Unfortunate for me, electricity bill is around USD 0.2 cents per KWh.
So i had to cover up for the electricity expenses for the death month.  Im OK with it since as what we always expect is, if there is a down month, there will always be a good month, which i believe could happen and is happening this month.. So as what KANO-SAN always mention, luck always evens out and goes back to 100%? Grin

Just wanted to clarify things out to set the right expectation again.  Because just like me, when i was fairly new to kanopool, i had soo much expectations and didnt really understand what things were, just just realized only early this year and unfortunate enough i was one of the newbies that was hit by the DEATH month of feb, but i endured and believed and stayed..thanks to this amazing community!

Hi, I am new here and have Newbie questions?

I set my T9 to mine in kano pool, but many questions poping up my head

1. to set my wallet address, the kano pool web site ask me for password, what password it should be? i don't remember to set password for my wallet address.

2. what is the minimum amount of BTC to get payment?

3. how i can see the amount of BTC produced/mined, in other words where i can see my miner progress?

4. It is normal that my worker higher invalid % than block %? checking on detail shows many stales?

thanks, i would appreciate any reply with answers  Huh

Bro! welcome to KANOPOOL!  Would like to set your expectation that the pool does not payout everyday and only pays when a block is found.
The payment is based on shares and it is called REWARDS in kanopool terms.

We depend on luck which always comes around back to 100% or the "expected". (my opinion, dear kanopool PROs, please dont scold me for saying this, just simplifying things to fellow newbie  Cheesy)

So in general, we only have to hope for a block found every month and hope for that expected 100% to be hit.

In general, this pool is fun as to the reason the community is very active and everyday you wake up, there is something new being talked about. Smiley
Also, the fees are very minimal.  If the pool is very lucky in that certain month, it will certainly hit (the BTC earnings) way way way higher than other pools. (tried antpool and slushpool).   If unlucky, we have to endure and shoulder some electricity cost and hope the next month will get lucky to cover up the current month and the next month.  Its just this cycle here in kanopool.  But what is best is yung community!  Lips sealed

in your questions above, im only capable to answer you 2 things:
2. what is the minimum amount of BTC to get payment?
- as Kano-san mentioned, its about the dust payment, but you don't have to worry about this since your using T9 and that is 12TH.
- at 58 PH a T9 with 12TH with BTC reward @ 12.5 will give you around 0.002586 BTC (rough estimate assuming the pool hash of 58 remains thesame and this is also asusming you are fully ramped up)

3. how i can see the amount of BTC produced/mined, in other words where i can see my miner progress?
- just look at your SHIFT graph page, youll see a small number that says "xx.yy av" (that is your ramped up average = this value should be around 12TH when your fully ramped up)
- if your referring to the BTC blocks found, you can go to the POOL > BLOCKS page, youll see the BTC block reward value there, also the expected and the blocks already found for the current month.

you they make you a Jr. Member.

Thank You for following my posts on Twitter! Maybe, I will try translating them into other languages, as it might reach a BIGGER audience.

Haha! glad you noticed sir!  Yeah, been trying my best to disseminate the information as well.  So glad you made efforts to make the images on them and im glad to retweet and like them for KANO community!  Having the image with CHINESE characters i believe would help a lot as i believe, there are also lot of chinese miners out there that are not too technical and need guidance on setting up their equipment.  Ill try my best to join some Chinese mining forums and spread the love of KANO so our hash could grow...!  Grin

Hi,
I am new to the pool.  Smiley
I have joined few days back. I am cranking around 37Th/s

So just wanted to check how exactly are shifts and rewards calculated.

Here are my shifts on the last block.
https://www.dropbox.com/s/p1eb92ekp0xha2v/shifts.JPG?dl=0

And here is the reward.
https://www.dropbox.com/s/sf8e3wv1nnez7bl/reward.JPG?dl=0

Of course I dindt work all shifts for the block but reward looks so tiny for 3 days of cranking with approx 37Th/s.  Smiley

Thanks.

Hi, taking your case as an example of the formula i just mention few posts below your post.
Assuming you have fully ramped up and you have 37THs ave.

Formula =

(N/PN)=S
R*S = Your BTC received

(Legend)
MY HASHRATE = N
POOL HASHRATE = PN
MY number of SHARE = S
BLOCK REWARD = R
------

(N/PN)=S
37,000 / 46,880,000 = 0.00078925 Share/Contribution from the total pool power

Block reward (R) = 12.40460222
R*S = Your BTC received

12.40460222 * 0.00078925 = 0.00979032 BTC on this block IF you were already fully ramped up.
Assuming we find 10 blocks of thesame size you'll get 0.096892 BTC in 30 days which should be way
more better than 0.003094 a day * 30 = 0.09282 BTC

Hope this helps.  As many long time miners here say, be patient and it will pay off!

Welp, my plan took a dive. I'm gonna tweak my rules a bit and give it one last shot before I call it off because it's going to get lost in the pages anyway. I think the changes will open it up to a lot more miners who may have a good answer (including NEW miners).

-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
BTC  5 day - 50 TH/s giveaway !!!! BTC

I want to see how well the small miners understand this and can explain it on a level where YOU(and others, including myself) fully understand it. I want that light bulb to go off and have ZERO doubt about how we are getting paid for our shares and I will donate 50 TH/s for a period of 5 days to a lucky winner.

My rules:

1- You have to have been mining on Kano's Pool with a hash rate between 1 and 20 TH/s
2- The rewarded hash has to be pointed at Kano's pool.  (to be confirmed by Kano)
3- You have to submit your answer in response to this quote and give 2 working examples including the payouts calculated.
4- padrinogtr will have to be able to explain his new understanding with his own example in response to the submitted answer and have the answer's accuracy verified by Kano.
5- New miners to the pool are welcome, though you will have had to have been here for at least the last block (this will help ramp your 5Nd up much sooner!!)

The 5 day 50 TH/s award will start as soon as I am able to see confirmation and have access to my controllers. I will of course need a worker name.
I understand this is dependent on some cooperation from others, but hey it's 50 TH/s on the line and I'm currently only running about 70 TH/s, so it's a big deal to me.

5 days - 50 TH/s .... don't let us down padrinogtr!!!!!! There was talk of others donating some hash too. If their offer is still good, that hash will be separate and in addition to the 50 TH/s I am donating.

*Of course, this is for fun and in the event of a hash rate failure, I will not be obligated to make it up as noted in prior promotions. I hope I'm not leaving out any details. I will stay active with the announcements as well as open to hearing some feedback or details that should be edited.

Thanks everyone and MINE ON!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Hi, i would like to join this contest! Smiley

Here is my explanation based on my newbie opinion.

Formula:

(N/PN)=S
R*S = Your BTC received

(Legend)
MY HASHRATE = N
POOL HASHRATE = PN
MY number of SHARE = S
BLOCK REWARD = R

Assumptions:
1xS9 at N = 14THs                     (14 * 1,000 = 14TH)
Current Pool Hash at PN = 40PH  (40 * 1,000,000 = 40 PH)
-------------------------------
(N/PN)=S      ---->   14,000 / 40,000,000 = 0.00035 S

When a block is found with a reward of the last block size in blocks page "2018‑03‑02 05:50:27" = 12.51725753 - 0.9% fee = 12.40460222
The reward of 12.40460222 is the block that will be shared among miners in the pool.
So based on the formula of (R*S = your BTC reward)

12.40460222*0.00035 = 0.00434161 BTC in this block.

So in summary, as a new miner, to understand how much you will get per block found, always remember this formula and keep it handydandy. Grin

--------------------------------
(N/PN)=S
R*S = Your BTC received

(Legend)
MY HASHRATE = N
POOL HASHRATE = PN
MY number of SHARE = S
BLOCK REWARD = R
---------------------------------

Please note, the formula above only considers when you are fully ramped up.
You can always see in the shifts graph page whether your already fully ramped or not so just go and visit your shifts graph page.
When fully ramped, then always keep that formula at hand.

So at that rate assuming all values remain thesame, an S9 miner would at least hope and pray to have 8-9 blocks found in a month to be mining here and be more profitable than other pools which gives you at least 0.0011 BTC a day.

[EDIT]
So imagine, if we find a block with 22.67465393 reward just like last 2017‑12‑23 01:54:00, that would be a wooping 0.00786470 BTC in that single block alone!  Imagine if we hit 7 block with 12.4 miner reward + 1 block with 22 miner reward, in those 8 blocks alone, you already get 0.03825597!
That is approximately around 20% difference already vs a daily payout of 0.0011 * 30 = 0.033 BTC.

I hope this explanation helps a lot to kanopool new members as me as a new member as well wanted to know how profitable it is to mine here and this is what i have observed.

Did i pass the exam?  Grin

Kano,

Noob here with 15TH. Do you think my payouts would be similar to other pools? I like to support the smaller pools but havent dipped into your yet.

hi, were somewhat on the same range, i have 14.34 ramped up TH/s ave.  This can be seen in WORKERS > SHIFT GRAPH, the right most corner that has "xx.xx av"  (where x = the numbers)

I have mined with kano back and forth before but since Jan 22, stayed and planned to stay for good.

Sharing you my experience as a small miner and long time lurker:
The S9 i got has around 14TH/s and in every block with a miner reward of 12.4-13.4 size yields me 0.0035-0.0039 and this was the time when the pool was at 46-50PHs (estimate).

So with this in place, if everything stays thesame, we just need to get at least 10 blocks of at least 12.5 miner reward and we get thesame BTC mined as per cryptocompare gives us:

with a more of luck on the pools' side, if we get more than 10 blocks plus a block with more miner reward in it in a month with exactly thesame figures of PH in the pool, then we get more compared to other pools.

this is just my observation and experience, if there is any wrong info i have mentioned, long time pool gurus, please educate me  Grin

I'm surprised these smaller guys aren't going for that 50 TH/s reward.

The block must have distracted everyone. I'm not sure how man smaller miners pay attention to the forum and read it though........so in that case, let's increase the qualifications to 1TH/s - 15 TH/s and see if that attracts a few more.

Someone has to have an easy analogy they can share that helps them understand.
