THIS is what I've wanted to hear from them. Nutting up and taking responsibility is a big step. Good job, guys, and I can honestly say that I wish you well.
NEW YORK (CNNMoney) -- Citigroup acknowledged that a hack attack last month stole millions of dollars from customers' credit card accounts.
Citigroup (C, Fortune 500) told CNN that about $2.7 million was stolen from about 3,400 accounts on May 10.
The hackers actually accessed a much larger number of accounts: 360,083. Fewer than 1% of the hacked accounts had money removed from them, according to Citigroup.
The bank reiterated that customers will not be responsible from financial losses stemming from the attacks.
"Customers are not liable for any fraud on the accounts and are 100% protected," the bank said.

Perfect condition. Does not include manual, but has everything else (detachable mic, amp, retail box). Will sell to continental U.S. buyers only. I have heatware under this username (chihlidog) and have dealt on Anandtech fs/ft multiple times. If you need something else from me to feel comfortable buying let's talk and we can work it out. Make me an offer - these sell for $240 new on Newegg. I dont expect near that much of course. I'm thinking 5 BTC shipped.
I also have a logitech Revolution MX mouse/charger kit. It in very useable condition. Bottom of the mouse is scuffed, of course, and the usb receiver is scratched but all the stuff you see day in day out looks perfect. No boxes or anything with this set. Again make me an offer. I'd probably take 2.5 BTC shipped.
While the delays are frustrating, they are just trying to get it absolutely right before reopening. I still trust MtGox.
WHY??? Seriously, I dont get it. I dont have any money tied up there, but DAYS ago I was furious at this guy, and I knew this shit was gonna go down like this. What makes you trust him? Im not flaming you, I really would like to know your reason, maybe I am unaware of something.

I would just like to take this opportunity to share with MtCox one of the emails I just received likely as a result of our emails being spread out like candy.
Helping someone become more competitive is impolite? I just deposited $500 in TH. I am assuming they prefer a rude customer to a polite non-customer. Also, I am still hoping for a Walmart money transfer option. I'd rather pay the 8 bucks than wait two extra days for Dwolla.
At this point we prefer to offer less payment options and get them in and out smoothly and safely. When it smooths out we will be offering more and more options.
If you really want to quickly and safely move funds a wire transfer may be the best option. If it's a small amount it's not worth it due to the fees that your bank and our bank may charge. We may be able to offer really cheap wire options soon though. We're working on it.

This is good to know. Id love to get trading with you guys, but the fees are definitely ewxcessive and as I have mentioned several times, quick trading is going to be essential for a flourishing market. Here's hoping you guys will lead the way in facilitating the liquidity.
these postponements are getting annoying. Once or twice is fine but now its annoying. They should just say 1 week or TBA until they are certain they are ready. Im going to be sleeping for the trade reopening :<
Do you know what happens when they said the equivalent of TBA. It became a flame fest for them to update every hour. Now if your going to bug them to give you update all they damn time it's very hard to make accurate estimates. Fuck seriously 24 hours? People waited like 13 years for Starcraft 2 through numbers of delays.
This is real money we're dealing with here. I know very few, if any, people that are calm when you screw with their money.

I'd just like to say that I am touched by MtGox's care and concern for their traders, amply demonstrated by the entire 50% off all trades!

I propose a new site named Mt Cox, where you basically climb to the top of the mountain, and push the summit of Mt. Cox right into your butthole, and then tell people you're not pushing a Mountain of Cox into their butthole.
I am very seriously considering quoting this for my sig. Someone needs to archive this for posterity.

Re: Is rampant speculation going to kill Bitcoin's credibility?
I hate to break it to you all, but unfortunately, rampant speculation, the hack attacks and massive price drops have already essentially killed bitcoin from the credibility point of view. No large company will willingly use a currency if using it risks their profitability on the scale bitcoin does.
Such a volatile market also has the potential for ENORMOUS gains. People have made quite tidy sums of USD from BTC. THat wont go unnoticed by investors if it continues. Rewards require risk.
When you want to accept payment in btc you don't want it to arbitarily drop in value and make you essentially sell at a loss. The only thing the volatile market encourages is more speculating, rather than actual marketplaces.
Price volatility is a huge factor in Bitcoin becoming accepted. I think it's useless to think about wide acceptance until our own community has some sort of economy.
Maybe we don't have the goods and services to support this currency. If this is the case, it will be difficult for this to take off.
The only option might be to create a virtual economy. Something similar to Second Life, where BTC will always have value. In this economy you can buy real estate, build things to sell. It allows everyone to participate in the economy. In the real world this is not the case.
Crazy idea, but I think it could work.
As has been stated in these forums, the best chance an average joe has to get btc going is to deal in them. I have several items for sale on the private market and am accepting BTC as payment for them. Its a risk but the best I can do to support the idea.
