BTC Wallet on a NAS
by

on 12/08/2013, 01:00:56 UTC
i have been doing some research in trying to find out if it would be possible to store a bitcoin wallet on a NAS. I was trying to imagine probably a 2 bay NAS with the drives RAID MIRROR allowing you have a fail safe if needed incase a drive fails.

all depends on what currency your mining  Huh Huh Huh

for example in BTC;

in AF make sure you have the "sync similar gpu option" UNCHECKED

keep the voltage at stock, push powertune all the way up, drop the vram and far as you can
push the core clock in increments of 5 and test for 12-24 hours. if the gpu is stable continue to push addition 5 and repeat until your GPU crashes then you know your cards clock. you can then start to drop the voltage little by little testing yet again 12-24 hours until your card crashs

OC testing is rigorous and time consuming. usually requires a lot of babysitting your rigs. but once you find the sweet spot your rig is pretty much automated

Re: Bitcoin Mining Trojans - Anyone have a list or program that scans for them?
by

on 29/07/2013, 02:08:40 UTC
they are bad...

i tried combofix but it didnt seem to help.

your miner would be mining and says its connected to the correct pools and etc but your pool stats would show half of the hash or none at all... Sad

finally i just did a reformat and installed a hardware security gateway with active packet scanning so far no problems fingers crossed  Wink

Re: Best Radeon Brand?

i have worked with;

Asus 7970
Sapphire 7970
MSI 7970
Visiontek 7970

out of all of the top brands i worked with i definitely would recommend MSI second comes Asus then Sapphire. Visiontek did not appeal to me and the hash rate was not as high as the others.

In Terms of Power Supplies-Try to stay away from discount brand PSU's

I've Built a 2 card 7970 rig with a 850w PSU
               3 card 7970 rig with a 1000w PSU
               6 card 7970 rig with a 1600w PSU

thats with no overclock?

i wouldnt put my PSU close to full load like that - lowers down the efficiency

i repaste and reseat all my 7970s. I use only Arctic MX4. dont go with any of the cheap stuff. you wont really notice a difference in temps except for about one or two degrees. but then again this is thermal paste

Agreed, I am curious on the hashrate.  I've heard people say 1200ish but I wonder if those are unoptimized hashrates without proper settings.

exactly. i think either the users are limited by the temps or just not pushing the cards all the way out.

OC, powertune, intensity, with proper cooling....

has anyone tried pushing the card to max potential and see the hashing power? shouldnt it be somewhat of around 1400 mhash considering its 2x 7970?

Re: Decent Quality Power Strips? Mine Keep Popping
by

on 09/06/2013, 12:26:11 UTC
This sounds a bit dangerous. With 5 riggs, you should split the load over 2 circuits. My guess is that you are drawing at least 2500W, with continuous load, that is really too much for any household power strip, not to mention that you probably stress your wall-circuit.

i will thank you. i will make changes accordingly

i just got the right amount of sockets and the  right wiring and trips ( i have 8 trips at 20a each (240v ) puling less than 13a per trip )

how many machines do you have connected to each strip?

would you be kind enough to provide a link to what kind of strips you have?

thanks  Smiley
