AlexGR I think you are one of our best contributors and posters, but I have to be honest and say that it was highly irresponsible of you to post that out of context when things were still being figured out and you know that people are nervous.  I just needed to be honest about my thoughts.

Holy fuck he almost caused me a heart attack lol...

Agreed. I need a drink right now. Or a pill.

I was also in disbelief and kind of panic mode... but too much disbelief to sell anything.

Now it's the last desperate hope for all the cab drivers and grocery clerks... Bitcoin is not about organic development of technology, not any more.
Wow, Im pretty sure that anywhere in the world you go and ask a cab driver what bitcoin is, they never heard of it.

As for development of technology, bitcoin is barely scratching the surface, there are more developers working on bitcoin related software, hardware, than there are in most technological fields at the moment. Imagine 1-2 years from now, when all those MIT and other universities students graduate what will they come up with. Altcoins brought nothing new to the table, Bitcoin was about decentralization of money and is the main cord that keeps all the altcoins alive. If I'll lose faith in Bitcoin I'll lose faith in decentralized money meaning in all crypto currencies.

I don't understand the thinking that there is rivarly between alts and bitcoin. Why does there have to be? And are you serious when you say that alts bring nothing new?

What does this "cold masternode" mean really? Can you have a masternode with 1000drk without even a computer powered on? Or is it just having 1000drk in a cold wallet and a masternode running on a computer?

I'm sorry I'm not good with these things, but I'm curious.

Basically it means you can have a node online with the 1000DRK just for 30 seconds, then you activate a secondary "hot" node with no money in it. After that you can literally power down the first node because in the new implementation the hot and cold node share a signing key.

Ok. Many thanks for all of you for clarification. Smiley

Please help if you can, read more in my signature.

Hope there will be no trojan like this for DRK. People just don't understand stuff enough.
He even had antivirus installed, but it did not detect the trojan.

I am moving my stash to cold storage paper wallet.

I'd like to help, but problem is that on internet people are suprisingly clever at making up stories, so I dont know if yours is true and unfortunately cant help.

Here is some words  from a bitcoin core dev

http://img03.taobaocdn.com/imgextra/i3/888367355/TB2po2SXXXXXXbWXFXXXXXXXXXX_!!888367355.png

Ozziecoin, Your pump and dump dance would probably be more effective if you were less transparently dishonest in your approach.  I'm normally happy to ignore the nonsense in the altcoin subform, but since you saw fit to go distrupt the coinjoin thread with some offtopic insult hurling I thought I'd bring the extensive response back here where its topical.

CoinJoin is trustless— which is orthogonal with centralized or decentralized, it could be implemented several ways (though trustlessness is usually a prerequisite to a decenteralized implementation). Post 5 in the CoinJoin thread writes in depth about implementing it in a decenteralized way, none of which appears to have been implemented by the darkcoin developers as far as I can tell— from what I've heard it seems that they're not even able to understand it. (This is a disappointment to me, since I was trying to describe these ideas clearly so others could understand them.)

More amusingly, what DarkCoin does is highly centralized because the software is closed— you can't get more centralized than closed source. What the actual behavior is, is anyone's guess— it's impossible to review due to it being closed— though "masternodes" does not sound like something decenteralized, it sounds like something that creates a small chokepoint which could be used to deanonymize its users, like a server based CoinJoin but worse since you have to hold a huge pile of coins to run a server.

As I've said before CoinJoin is interesting because it's inherently part of Bitcoin already— it just needed better tools (and now there are some, e.g. darkwallet) to make it available to people.  It's a privacy improvement over not having it, but it isn't perfect, but it also didn't require any changes to Bitcoin (much less a whole altcoin) to deploy it.  In an incompatible system much better is possible as is proposed by ZeroCash and much better is actually _realized_ by Bytecoin (and its forks... Monero, Fantomcoin, etc.), the later are actually working (if immature, due reinventing many wheels) implementations of much stronger privacy, decenteralized in their implementation, all released under a good open source license.

From what I can tell the only purpose DarkCoin serves is to depress me about the state of humanity.

I am not good with technicals, but I totally understand why darksend is closed source... I dont understand why even a bitcoin core dev participates to inane whining about it, the reasons for temporarily closed source are obvious.

Really can't believe people are actually SELLING darkcoin. wow.

stupid is as stupid does.

I'll be selling some of my coins in this upcoming month, but only because I have to.  I'd much rather not but I have no choice.  Maybe others are in the same boat?

I got back into altcoins (and bitcoin) because I needed money quick. So fark DRK has been very good for that. Smiley

Mintpal just added DRK/LTC.
The big LTC dumping starts NOW.

It's actually 8 hours since they added it, at least according to mintpal's twitter.

RC3 Progress Report

I've had some substantial progress on DarkSend and have figured out how to make our existing system as secure as ring signatures. Vastly improved security, no bloat (from the ring signatures) and without actually having to trust new cryptography (it hasn't been extensively tested like what DarkSend uses) . So I think it'll give us a HUGE advantage in the coming months. More to come soon, I'm going to start implementing this tomorrow.  Grin

Is this in any way related to this:

I don't think the Evan has posted the info yet, but he has an idea how it could make Darkcoin impossible to trace!! We are not giving out the complete details on it yet, but "I" wanted to give everyone a heads up about a new feature that will be a very big improvement!!! I'm sure there will be people, trolls, that will say this is not possible, but when you get the details even the trolls will have to agree.

Look for the details coming out soon!

Anyway, I'm exctited. Grin Hopefully it's not just exaggerated promises. Smiley
