OK, so what happened in June 2011?
mtGox was hacked and some 500k BTC stolen.
don't think it will ever happen again, & if it does i doubt the price will drop like that again coz everyone will buy like mad, keeping price up

Re: Power Cords
by

watts divided by volts gives amps
thus your cord load would be (maximum)
760 / 120 if american = 6.333amps
760 / 240 if other = 3.166amps

cord not overload or heat up, cord (should) handle 10amps easily

another thought is - that plastic goes brittle if exposed to UV (sunlight, hydroponic rig, etc) or other BPA leeching substances like harsh chems (bleach etc)
also, use imgur - better, faster, no limits, no crappy wrapper pages. also has fb signup for ease of use

Also google "Rainbow Tables". It's been done for some algorithms, but their real-life usage is limited by the spread of multiple hashing, which would require exponential storage.
ahh, wpa cracking Smiley my friend successfully cracked his own wifi (testing obv.) only took 4hrs

The network pays out 2.6 million BTC per year.
You're wording it like it's a fact. It aims to generate 2.6 million per year, but in reality, it is never exactly 2.6.
so are you, can anyone prove either story?

Pools don't change difficulty or the total network hashing power.

you are a veritable font of knowledge good sir, i respect your wisdom & wish that you would write an ebook about it so noobs such as myself could read it - i would certainly be willing to donate (after using your tricks for earning++ of course Wink )

if everybody solo'd then the difficulty would be such that solo mining would be profitable, right?
isn't that what satoshi *really* intended?

Someone already made a chart of that, but Ill damned if I can find it. IIRC the bottom line was that ~200-400 MHz was the sweetspot, performance tapering off slightly in either direction
i found a chart but it only showed that 300mhz was the spot & only for one card.
i was thinking a table with many cards & values..

Re: GPU temp

the best thing you can do, if you must fry your card, is simple 2 things:
1) remove very shitty gpu heatsink & fan - replace with cpu heatsink & fan (amd ones are nice) just hold it to your board with zip ties or something that will be able to handle ~80`c
2) get a casefan and glue it onto or near your card blowing onto it - i had an old 8600gt with silentpipe (inadequate) and with a casefan reduced temps by 15`c - i cut out a cd spindle cover & put fan into it, cut holes in side for airflow, put fan+stand in bottom of case pointed at card.
