Affordable miners
by

I sold my old miner because it wasn't profitable anymore and for a while wasn't very involved in the cryptocurrency community. I'm looking to start mining again but dishing out 1-2k for a miner isn't a possibility right now. Are there options for people like myself other than cloud mining?
I can't imagine people give these things away or offer financing but I figured you guys would have some ideas/input.

Thanks for your time and consideration.

Looking to get started in adult entertainment but PayPal isn't an option since their policy forbids it. Are there websites specifically for this? Any advice/info is appreciated.

I was so obsessed with faucets when I first learned about bitcoin that I started coming up with crazy plans to rake as much as I could from it. The first idea I had was to convince a group of 5 or 6 of my friends to make wallets and spend every waking moment that they could visiting these faucets to dump all of their btc into my wallet at the end of the day. I wanted to form like a faucet collecting empire haha

trying to sell Antminer S1
by

on 29/09/2014, 14:40:03 UTC
I bought an antminer s1 a while back and used it for a bit just for fun, since I wasn't paying for electricity costs or anything. Now that I am its not really worth it to use so I'm looking to sell it.
I need some advice on how much to sell it for (with the power supply unit included) and how much shipping would cost.
I've seen some sold for about 100 but most didn't include power supply and had a good 20$ shipping fee.
Any advice would be appreciated, thanks in advance.

I have recently started experimenting with mining. I bought a small 2gh/s usb miner at first.
Liked how it worked so I bought a Rockminer, around 35gh/s. Today I decided to buy an antminer s1 to see how it worked. Ive spent a little more than I can just throw away and was wondering if there is a way to run them all together. I know most people would say just save money to get something high powered. m not quite ready to spend 3k.
I dont care much about the usb miner but I would really like to run the Rbox and S1 together.
Thanks in advance.

Board Mining software (miners)
Re: Trying to understand what these numbers mean.

Diff 2/2:  The second number is the difficulty you're shooting for and the first is the difficulty you hit.  Even though difficulty 2 is no where close what's needed to solve a block, you submit it to the pool to show them that you're doing work.  They pay you based on how many of these shares you submit.

AMU 0:  If you have more than one miner these will show up as different numbers to let you know which miner submitted the share.

Sorry, one more question. Once in a while the diff says something like 54/2 is that better?

I am using cgminer with a small antminer u2 [wanted to test waters before getting something slightly bigger]

When mining it say: Accepted [enter some numbers and letters here] Diff 2/2 AMU 0
I am just wondering what "diff 2/2" means and what the 0 after AMU means.

What, you can't be bothered to use the calculator that linked to in my previous post?  Huh

My bad, I skimmed the post, didn't even take the link into account. I'm currently running around with two kids. I appreciate the info.

I just spent my first bit of money on a small antminer u2 and I wasn't sure if I needed to buy something extra or if I just plugged it into my laptop and TAA-DAA.

Aside from a few small downloads and writing a cmd file so my miner was recognized, it was basically plug n play. So now that I've got it down I would like to spend a bit more on something more powerful,  but I am aprehensive something bigger than my usb miner requires things like power supplies & fans or things I can't pronounce.. So as of right now I have about 130$ to spend but I have to use that for everything I'm gonna need for this. I don't have a ton of time to browse through ebay, although what I have seen is promising. I have found an antminer s1 for 135. So if someone could make me a little shopping list and keep it around my price range, I would be eternally grateful.
I may also need tips getting everything set up, because I'm still new and have the knowledge of a five year old.
Thanks in advance.
Well, that S1 you saw on eBay will require a separate power supply to run (unless it was included in the auction).

With your budget, I'd look at the Rockminer R-Box (about $70-$80).  Some vendors provide the USB cable and the power supply (GAW Miners do).  That will get you 32-37 GH/s.

is 32-37 gh/s something that will show me more than a few cents a day?
No.  Nothing within your price range will give you more than cents per day.  That 35GH/s has an expected daily earning of about 0.001BTC a day at current difficulty.

so how many gh/s or th/s will be needed to make something like 15$ a day?

Well if you want something more powerful than your Ant, $130 would be not really enough ...

you will not be able to build up any rig for $130..

Do you mine Bitcoins for fun or you want some profit?

if you want profits - $3000 and you can think about a little profit Smiley after few month.

At first it was for fun, but at this point I would really like some profit. I can't imagine having 3k to spend anytime soon O.O

I've heard that USB miners aren't really useful for mining anymore but I really want to experience what mining is like, even if I'm not really getting anything more than a few satoshis. With them being pretty outdated I was wondering if anyone had one or two left over from when they actually were useful, that would be willing to send them to me. I could probably pay for shipping if need be. I understand that even the cost of the electric needed to use it, is more than I will get out f it, but it is nothing something I will be doing long. Like I said, kinda just want the experience.
Thank you all in advance.

I have 10 of them kicking around.  Personally, I still can't believe that they are still selling, and/or that people are still buying them.  I get that you want the experience, but even with all 10 hooked up, I doubt you'd see much of anything out of them.

Where are you located roughly?

Well I have nothing to lose but time honestly. I don't pay for electric, so I don't have to worry about that. Also I'm a bit of a show off, my sister thinks all of this is a huge scam. She doesn't get that putting your computer to work can generate something that equates to money. If I can get her on board the cryptocurrency train I'd feel pretty accomplished and maybe convince her to throw down some money with me to get a real miner.
I'm in NY a little outside of Poughkeepsie.

I'd send you a few if you were closer, cross country and cross border can get expensive for shipping though.  Try craigslist or kijiji if you have it in your area.  I did a Craigslist search for your area, came up with Hudson Valley.  Looks a ways down the road though, but I see antminer u1's and u2's for around $20 bucks.

This is the search I did: http://hudsonvalley.craigslist.org/search/sss?sort=priceasc&query=Bitcoin%20miner

I'm sure there are ones closer than the ones I found, you know the area better than I would.  Ebay might be an option as well.  I see some going for cheap on there, might even be able to pick up local.

Good luck.

I never even thought to look on craigslist!! Thanks much.

If you really want to convince her, you need some real ASIC that can go at least 1 TH/s. If not your profit will be so small that no body cares..

Well then, if anyone has something nicer than usb that they're willing to give, I'd take that too x3
