i recommend u stay in hiveos or try another mining OS
but the problem u were having was related to page file most likely
for 12 gpus in windows u would prolly need close to 100GB of page file

i havent had good results on ethermine for years
too many ppl there with 100x+ ur hashrate
i switched to hiveon for this reason cuz they payout stale shares
ive tried a few others like sparkpool which payout as well as hiveon but u have to pay ur transaction fee

i guess after u get ur payout u gotta just find a better pool
i also section part of my hashrate to other coins
mainly cuz i still have 4GB cards that cant be on eth
so ive been mining ergo and etc as well as eth

im mining on manjaro right now with a 5700 while im typing to u
all u have to do is install manjaro then add opencl in add/remove software
then i use corectrl, prolly have to add this, to underclock and undervolt as well as fan curves
then im using teamredminer

at most u might have to update the GRUB to fully unlock clocks and fan curve
just search for "overclocking amd linux" and u should find multiple detailed instructions to update GRUB

on the motherboard i used, not the same as yours, auto did not set gen 3 for some reason
but your motherboard definitely has gen 3

They have arrived today, and they work. So now, my mb, which has only 6 pcie slots, works with 12 cards. Thanks again @miner29!!

what cpu are u using?
i cant believe u got 12 cards working
u should only be able to get 7 working
if u can get 12 i want to try and mimic with my tb250 btc

Re: PSU..5700xt.. ? Help
by
cidman
on 02/03/2021, 19:31:55 UTC
I try even that..so for now ..if i put setup on 5700xt 1400mhz and 750mV..gpu dont want even to start mining..i try 1400mhz 850mV works for almost 24h..now i put 975mV..and see what happends...and overclock is stock..didnt want to touch ..

are u mining in windows or a mining OS?
1400 is high for TRM in the default b config
the devs say if u push memory and core to max in b config it can use more power than normal

i run all my 5700/xt at
1320Mhz 750-760mV core
895-900Mhz at 775-800mV mem  (samsung needs at least 780 i think) (micron can work down to 760 but i had problems)
memory temperature is huge for 2 reasons
main reason is a run away temp on memory will crash card
so u have to make sure ur fans are cooling the memory before it goes above 98C

2nd is memory will degrade with 24 hour operation above certain temps
micron will degrade above 94C with 24 hour operation
samsung will degrade above 86C with 24 hour operation
if ur mining in windows u will prolly just need to set ur fans to 75% depending on specific GPU
hiveOS and a lot of other mining OS give an option to cool the card based on memory temp instead of gpu temp

im not sure if the project is still being developed
but searching for "stratum proxy" should come up with a few sources

just use simplemining OS and be virus free.
Some prefers windows for other reasons, mining OS is a complete mining OS only, you can't do other things on the OS than to mine but with windows you can do lots of things, standalone mining OS is good for those who don't care about other things but mining only

well with hiveOS and an nvidia card u can do quite a lot for a mining OS
with a lil tweaking u could build up some extra creature comforts
there is another option tho
look into GPU pass through or iommu groups
u could run windows and pass ur mining gpus to a miningOS in a virtual machine or the other way around

manjaro is pretty easy to get going
just install and then add opencl amd 20.45 in the GUI package manager or pacman
then use which ever miner u prefer

debian has so many versions is what i was finding with mx linux which is debian buster
which was also my first time ever using a debian based distro

Re: Hive OS. №1 OS for mining
by
cidman
on 24/01/2021, 21:33:47 UTC
can we get the new drivers too?
so we can use large single allocation for B mode on NAVI
Latest Stable Image has AMD OpenCL 20.40 and previous Stable Image 20.30 - both allow single allocation.
Latest Stable you can download from web site - https://hiveos.farm/install/
or you can replace by hive-replace tool (from ssh/Hive Shell console, see available options: hive-replace -h)

thx i was wondering
i just loaded up a random distro and have been shluping it up without the creature comforts of a mining OS

What's new?

MINERS👷‍♂️
TeamRedMiner v0.8.0 (rewritten ethash kernels and new mining modes for all gpu types; Key features: Polaris reintroduced B-mode: power efficiency and slight hashrate increase. B-mode must be enabled with --eth_aggr_mode or --eth_config=Bxxx; Vega 56/64: greatly improved base kernel for efficiency. New B-mode that can shave off additional 1-2W on top of the A-mode kernel. B-mode must be enabled manually with --eth_config; Radeon VII: huge boost with its new C-mode but requires a special Linux setup. Can now do 100 MH/s; 5700/5700XT: can shave off as much as 8-9W(!) of power using the new B-mode and dropping core clk+voltage. B-mode now the default mining mode; 5600XT: new B-mode has a much smaller effect. A-mode remains the default mining mode; DAG cache is NOT compatible with the new B/C-modes. ETH+ZIL switchers have to choose between caching the epoch 0 dag and using the new mining modes; users are highly recommended to take a few minutes to read the 0.7-to-0.8 migration guide (https://bit.ly/35SLIu2)  and the new ethash tuning guide (https://bit.ly/3bQAv0E); ethash 4GB kernels NOT rewritten)
Folding@Home Client v7.6.12 (removed unnecessary debian deps on bzip2 and zlib1g; fixed GPU slot initialization problem; fixed start up failure when OpenCL is not present; fixed GPU allocation)
⚙️ TT-Miner: fixed config generation for PROGPOW092 algo

can we get the new drivers too?
so we can use large single allocation for B mode on NAVI

these are the 5 cards that are causing low hashrate is what im thinking
that looks exactly like a pcie splitter but built into the mobo
im assuming zombie mode takes the extra bandwidth from the loss of hashrate and gives the extra to the memory channel
thats why we need gen 2 is for the bandwidth im thinking
there might be some combination of removing cards that would at least get a couple to a few of those 5 cards at current full hashrate

the way the 5600xt was modded im not sure will happen with the 5500
the bios everyone is using was pulled from a reference version before a bios update
so its basically unlocked and prolly wasnt supposed to be but was pushed out fast

Testing version 1.19 on RaveOS

On my ASUS B-250 MINING EXPERT platform I no longer have the problems I had with version 1.18 using --4g-alloc-size 4080 and leaving in automatic --zombie-tune

testing if it's stable but at the moment all very well thanks for the update  Smiley

kinda curious cuz i has the same problems with 1.18 and ive been looking at switching to more dense rigs
can u by chance console or ssh into ur mining OS and do a "lspci -t"?
so i can see how the pcie lanes are divided
it will be long but something like this

If you don't have Gen2 the --zombie-tune 2 will not work and you should change 2 for 1 or 0.

The idea is to run miner-show, to see why it crash. Without that information is not possible to know where is the problem.

ZM 0 is why it crashed
it runs ZM 2 and 1 no problem
ZM 2 the 4 cards run about 7Mh
ZM 1 the 4 cards run about 17Mh
im assuming the hashrate drop is because of the pcie splitter, im swapping mobos later to make sure
but ZM 0 crashes all my rigs, not just the problem one
