okay but back to the original question of will 100% utilization of a card have any effect on its life if it is operating at or below a normal temperature.
Hey there, lying in bed and just thought of a feature for the app that would be nice, a notification whenever there is a change, or deposit in your wallet. It would be nice to know when my pools are paying out. Just an idea. Keep up the good work!

okay awesome, I can't remember where but I thought I remembered reading that the strain from it running at 100% constantly could lead to the cards life being shortened.

GPU utilization

I'm mining the x11 algorithm with my GTX 970 I have it set to only use 58% of the power with EVGA PrecisionX. I wanted to try to lower the GPU utilization in order to save the wear and tear on my card as this is my main PC Is there any way to lower the GPU utilization with ccminer?
or is utilization even the issue that I'm trying to correct if I want to save the life of the card?
Thanks in advance.

I'm going to be getting another PSU shortly, this was just one to get me started. I do think this PSU has another rail though. as I was able to get both of the blades running on this psu without underclocking the freq. Or maybe it can just actually handle what it's rated at. who knows.
Could check if you could spread the load on the multi rail properly. If you tried to put the whole load on one rail it will shut down to self protect. Ironically lowering your clock when i mentioned you were probably trying to run full clock on a undervolted S1 would of probably given you the best hashrate
I believe that's what I did, could I modify a molex that's on another rail? I'm not sure how to tell. As far as undervolting/underclocking I'm just trying to get it to run as if it were stock, I'll deal with all that later. In my first post you could see I was getting a lot of HW errors running a full clock on it while it was undervolted. Was that probably why?
Now that you,ve removed it, you're gonna have to grab a multi meter and make it even on both sides. Or you'll get one board not being run at the right timeout/freq. And its possible, the load can do 400-500W, so i'd need to know what the PSU is.
Ah wouldn't you know it, I left my multi meter in my other pants!
But in all seriousness though I'll have to get one, good thing there's a home depot less than a mile away! and the PSU is a pretty old "Xtreme Gear 700w ATX Power Supply" Its from an old cyber power pc that was built a few years ago.

Okay so I tried to get the other blade up and running but it powered off my PSU after a couple of seconds, from what I've been reading that's because it can't support the draw that the S1 is trying to draw correct? But it's also pretty late so I may have just configured something incorrectly.
I might put the pencil mod back on the other side and look into it just so I can get both blades up and running on one PSU.
Would definitively happen if you or the person who owned the S1 before you did pen modding.
I didn't know what this was so some googling and took a look at the board and the resistors R3, R66, R38, R52 were all colored black. I just took an eraser to one blade and that seemed to do the trick!
Edit: I'm going to check the other blade and see if that's the issue with that one as well! Will post more results!

I recently obtained an Antminer S1 from a friend who decided to retire his hobby of bitcoin mining. I have been following bitcoin since its creation and have been mining on and off for a few years with altcoins, etc. just never had a stand-alone ASIC, so no preaching please Wink This miner ran fine for him, he returned everything to stock settings and shipped me off with it. I booted it up at home and reconfigured it for my network but I'm getting a real shit hash-rate, and I don't mean a little sub-par, I'm talking 30 Gh/s on a single blade (test purposes)
I've tried multiple power supplies, upgraded the firmware, updated cgminer to version 4.2 and I'm all out of ideas.
Thanks.
