Re: Ethereum is not worth $40. Who else is shorting?

Ethereum isn't worth nearly as much as it is valued at right now. It's riding the on the tail of Dash but that gravy train is about to dry out, too. Ethereum is going to reestablish itself back in the .01-.02 mark where it belongs. Who else is putting in big shorts?
What's your reasoning behind this? Big companies like Microsoft are getting involved with projects like the Ethereum Alliance.

been trying to figure it out as well...

Some people here are so dead set against Ethereum and its value/significance while it seems to have a better hold in the mainstream then bitcoin ever did. Obviously bitcoin is more recognisable but in terms of actual serious consideration by mainstream global corporations it was never in the position Ethereum is right now (backed by Microsoft, Intel, JP Morgan, Banco santander, Google etc.)

Hey all,

Has anyone tested the p2.8xlarge or p2.16 series from amazon?  I know returns aren't likely to be had, but wondering what type of hashing power these produce.

Thanks!

p2.8xlarge

CPU (xmr stak cpu 22 threads...46MB of L3 cache)

840 h/s

GPU

1.9KH/s

so total of 2.740KH/s

less than my previous estimate due to the fact i thought there was a higher L# cache on the p2 instance cpus...there isnt , so cpu performance is similar

p2.16xlarge would be twice that at 5.5KH/s

per cpu/gpu core the performance is almost identical to the g2 instances...(ie grid k520 is just as fast if not faster than a k80 when it comes to cryptonight)

a g2.8xlarge with 32vcpus and 4 grid k520s does 800 or so cpu and 1k GPU (from 4 gpu cores)..

I've only tested g2.8xlarge which gives a combined cpu +gpu of 1.8k or so

I'm guessing the p2.8xlarge would be somewhere near the 3-3.5k mark and p2.16xlarge twice that.

I'll check if there's a preexisting AMI with CUDA set up to launch a spot instance and run a benchmark....(if there isn't I can't be bothered to set it up from scratch ...sorry Smiley )

Ideal mining pool features.

Hello everyone,

I am considering working on a mining pool server and I was wondering what features you like the most in existing mining pools and what features you would like to see but are missing in current pools.

I already have a few ideas of my own but gathering some input from the community is even better.

Cheers

Google VPS is a bust, but Amazon aws.amazon.com can mine Bytecoin slowly. Each instance starts around 40 h/s then gets throttled down. But if you have multiple amazon accounts you can stay in the free tier. Then reboot the instance regularly and reconnect to kill the throttle for a while.  azure.microsoft.com is a good way to cash in one time on a free trial. The will not charge you without confirmation. You can run 8 cores for a few weeks and get a lot of bytecoin. It is almost faster to play with faucets and free apps then cash out when you can and buy bytecoin.

yeah, aws free tier instances are t1.* only (so throttled/burstable)

however, if you have aws credits (i occasionally see people selling them here for around 7-10% their value) you can spin up spot instances of their more powerful instances for cheap

a g2.8xlarge will run at 2kH/s for around 0.5USD/hour ...not profitable unless XMR triples in value but if you get say 1200 $ credits for 100$, you can run 2 instances for almost 2 months to make about 50 XMR (so 600usd at current rates)

the only problem is you can't stack many credit codes together on the same account ...max 4 i think

I've added payment id payouts to https://xmr.suprnova.cc now as well. They're tested and confirmed working. You can now be paid with integrated addresses, normal addresses and also payment ids.

Us and EU nodes, pplns payment etc..

Let me know if you need anything else Smiley

Long time lurker here... using my first post to say you've done an excellent job Smiley
