[Transaction Malleability] List of fixed Coins
by
cly
on 10/02/2014, 11:30:39 UTC
Hey out there!

Due to current events i think it would be useful to list all Virtual Currencies (Alternatives and Bitcon) which have fixed the so-called "Transaction Malleability" menitoned under https://en.bitcoin.it/wiki/Transaction_Malleability

So every Coin using a similar generation of the transaction hash is affected, my question is: Which are not?

I will update this first post with all Information i get. Especially, which Coins are fixed already or not affected!
Till now i must assume all Altcoins are affected by the same issue.

So you are a cryto-evangelist and know more than us Bitcoin-Lovers? Tell us!

Thank you! We really appreciate!

PS: If there is a similar thread already, please close and post a link!

A friend of mine lives in Frankfurt and checked out the building for me. No indication of a company named Xtreme Miners or Jorge Berg whatsoever.

Please, if possible arrange a meeting with your friend and the head of the company.
They seem to be open for communication.
And - for sure - tell us what happened.

Bitcoin Client does not recognize/forgets my Bitcoins
by
cly
on 19/04/2013, 05:56:46 UTC
Long story short:

I moved some 0.1 BTC to a paper Wallet.

I removed my old wallet.dat and restarted bitcoin-qt to generate an empty new one.

With help of Debug Window i did "importprivkey myprivkey"

But still 0.00 BTC
My BTC are still there at the Address - tested with blockchain.info search

How do i rescan the downloaded Blockchain manually?
Is this even the Problem?
And yes, i restarted the client.

Is it possible the client misses out some transaction from time to time? (and so "forgetting" bitcoins?)

Re: Open Source Exchange - Open Source MtGox

Mt. Gox Code is not good.

Yeah. You know open source? If you don't:
It is about making S/W better by crowd sourcing.

Myself would spend at least 40 hours to have a look at the code and make some patches to stabilize the software.

This is why the satoshi client is open source!!!

I do not like to see bitcoin breaking down because of mtgox fails!!!!

Open Source Exchange - Open Source MtGox
by
cly
on 11/04/2013, 09:47:23 UTC
I'd like to start a petition to make MtGox releasing their Software OpenSource (e.g. Apache2, MIT License)

So we can check and double check the Code, run load tests etc.

So we can build up our exchanges on our own to have a valid fallback if mtgox fails next time.

How do we achieve this goal?

Make MtGox Open source. So everybody can check the code, set up a trading market himself and take advantage from decentralized systems.

1st - 50 BTC per found block? Old video??

2nd - the images and animations are nice - but it seems more like a demo of blender or gl effects. Meaning there is only little korrelation between the moving images and what is said (think about the net, where every node has 21 mio on it  Roll Eyes )

Sorry bro, but some half-naked girls might have done the same job.

Hey out there!

After hearing about ripples, i do want to get some, because i think it is a valid project.

Poorly, i have registered to this forum shortly - but have been into bitcoin (and mining them) since the (smaller Cheesy ) boom June '11

If you'd like to give me some RXP, i'd be happy as schnitzel (a german saying).

My ripple address is rBFdSjMWPZH1tFrE5DyX9PtW2vaKDjh8TL

Thank you so much!

How can everyone be sure it will rise to $500/BTC-$5000/BTC? These are just random numbers people think of. Where's the research to back those projections?

So far all of this are just pure speculations right now..

I agree with the article linked above.

By 70 trillion USD/year World market, Bitcoin would be somewhere between 1 Mio and 10 Mio USD.

I do not believe in a 100%...so 1% makes 10k USD...

Also i do not believe it takes more than a year to hit 1-5k USD - so looking forward.

Money is about belief - and the belief is strong here.

~1000 bytes is a kilobyte, ~1000 kilobyte is a megabyte.

And for IT people 1024 meters is a kilometer....

Just wait for it ... will handle itself

Your god commands you send them all to us for free Wink

Same god - do not give them to me. Spend them on a project you like which accepts Bitcoin.
Some Healthcare or archive.org or wikileaks or....
Do it on a social organisation.

And to get your Karma++ tell us your BTAddress and where you spend the bitcoins - we are curious Smiley

Re: How I Lost $1500 Worth of BitCoins
by
cly
on 05/04/2013, 13:55:44 UTC
Yeah... I have over 100K in a wallet that I cant get into.  I can get into the wallet I transfered them OUT of and I see the 4 transactions where they were sent to the receiving wallet....

but I cant remember the new wallets password.  When this all occurred, BTC was worth pennies.... there are 760 BTC in that damn wallet.

Sad
That's terrible....I really feel for you! Hope somehow you are able to remember it.

There seems to be many BTC that are being lost forever and this is only within it's first few years of existence. By 2140 when the last BTC is mined, I can foresee a massive quantity having disappeared forever.
If only 22 million Bitcoins can ever be in existence and Bitcoins can be lost forever what are the effects to the system when large amounts of Bitcoins are lost?

Simply by changing the Algorythm to create some.

Destroying BTC is easy and will compensate the decrease of economy if there is some.

If economy grows, there will be more bitcoins needed to have a stable currency.

Just 51% of miner-power is needed to make a change in the system, like generating more bitcoins.

And miners are the ones who have most interest to keep the system up and working to not leave their bitcoins worthless Wink
