Why do people still consider mtgox's price?

We still have 3 other exchanges over $650, so why is everyone worried?

= When enough excess power is available the rig is powered on and you mine for free.... In your car!

LAWS OF THERMODYNAMICS = there is no free power!

You will be burning more gas/petrol to power it.
Unless that power is already being generated by your alternator and wasted.  Then mining with the excess makes you more efficient.  <.<

I like the idea of an automotive-based hotspot network utilized by mining hardware.

An alternator produces UP TO ~100A.. meaning it doesn't continuously put out 100 amps when the alternator is spinning.  If it did, assuming it's 75% efficient, you'd be drawing 100A/0.75 * 14.4V = 1920W @ 746W/HP = 2.57 horsepower your engine is putting out that isn't going to motion of the car.

Cars are about 35% efficient - 30% in heat removed by internal cooling and the rest out the tail pipe (why turbos are wonderful)
1 gallon of gas contains 131,760,000 Joules - @ 35% efficiency, you get 46,116,000 Joules of energy out of.
46MJ ~ 12.81 kWh.

@ $4/gallon, 1 kWh costs $0.31/kWh

Also don't forget to apply alternator efficiency on top of that too. => $0.31/0.75 = $0.41/kWh

YMMV

Obviously

- you could also drive more economical and just use the saved money to pay for your electric.

Also your alternator has the potential to put out about 100+ amps at 14.4 volts

Thank you i thought namecoins slowing down my performance of rig

not at all..  you can join this site to exchange them

 https://vircurex.com/welcome/index?referral_id=756-12066

I get a small kickback from them  for referring you to join.   It comes out of their pocket not yours.   if you do not want to do the referral link  here is a direct link

https://vircurex.com/

the account is free to open.   1 NMC = .0063 BTC

so when the nmc get big  at bitminter  say 5 or more send them to vircurex and switch them to  btc

this is my nmc address with them:

MvyqkhN7HotQLejWZMduA8Vq2NLitx4Axx    you can send me a tip for the info or not whatever you want to do.

referrals done right.  I hate when people try to trick people into clicking referral links.

$BTC/difficulty

back in 2011 when bitcoins were about $5 a piece with a difficulty of around 1.5 million they seemed to be fairly stable.

($5/BTC)/1.5Mdif * 609M dif = $2030

Opinions?

My jalapeno hit a 140M in 3 days of operation while the difficulty was 20M

then I sold the jalapeno for 2700$ because mining is a joke.

Notice in the OP I said cents.  Bitcoins have nothing to do with this, because I can't pay my mortgage in bitcoins.

Will companies call a quits?

Once the difficulty gets high enough and say a 20GH/s chip (22nm or some shit) costs 30 cents a chip, but will only make 10 cents in its lifetime, no one will buy and it'll be a stand still because of the saturation of the mining network.

Thoughts?

too expensive

$1000 for 40-80 ghash isn't even worth risking.

By the time we get these, it will barely make the $1000 back.  And forget about buying these with bitcoins, I see it making close to 9 bitcoins over its lifetime.. @ 80gh

Is there a market for laptops preinstalled with the blockchain? Something for somebody to think about. Ironically, even with the hardware in stock, it would still take at least two weeks to take delivery.

or you could anticipate and pre-load it onto the computer before they order..

nun uh.  I followed a link to the alleged bidder and it says item is gone.

http://offer.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewBidderProfile&mode=1&item=151067381220&aid=e***s&eu=&bidtid=940773272005&view=NONE&ssPageName=PageBidderProfileViewBids_None_ViewLink

If that guy is real I'd email him and ask to end the auction early.  That price seems insane.

The completed listings say otherwise.

http://www.ebay.com/sch/i.html?_odkw=jalapeno&_sadis=200&_ipg=50&LH_SALE_CURRENCY=0&_from=R40&_ftrt=901&_udhi=10000&_ftrv=1&_udlo=1000&_adv=1&_sop=12&_osacat=0&_dmd=1&LH_Complete=1&_mPrRngCbx=1&_trksid=p2045573.m570.l1313&_nkw=jalapeno&_sacat=0

and the link works.  He is real.

There is no way it's worth 20btc.  I offer 1 btc.

Well apparently someone else believes it is worth 20BTC
