Re: 5700 XT giving me trouble with temps

try undervolting the memory. the stock setting is 1 volt and I think my Samsungs run at 700mv and the microns at 750mv. You should notice a decent temp drop and save on some power usage.

It looks like your post was moved to the correct section. If you are still interested in mining and don't have any problems mining alt coins.

#1 lookup your GPU at https://whattomine.com/gpus and see what the most profitable coin to mine is.

You did not say how much RAM, what CPU and Motherboard you purchased.

For RAM you need a minimum of 4GB but I recommend 8GB.
For CPU the only number that really matters for GPU mining is the number of PCIe lanes.
For Motherboard the more PCIe slots the better.

I have never mined on macOS so cant answer that part but Linux VS Windows, Linux wins every time even if it is HiveOS. Linux consumes less power and Most GPU will perform better. There is the exceptions to the rule like the first generation 3060.

This part is completely my opinion but mining rig frames are a waste of money specially if you plan on having a decent number of cards. Just get a good old wire frame shelf and some zip ties. Mining rig frames are 100s of dollars, Amazon basic wire shelf is $39, assorted pack of zip ties $6.

here are my settings overclocking my FHR 3080, however the fan speed is usually at  90-100%, is that ok for the fan on the long run ?

is it ok to keep fan on auto for 24x7 mining ?

http://grabilla.com/0bb1c-efa0c082-36cf-4b04-8dab-19f42d3bb499.png

also is it ok to maintain 108c for memory temp to mine 24x7 or what temp to maintain for 24x7 mining ?...

I put pads, heatsink and fan on the back and it dropped the temps by 10c

It looks like bears are gaining power every week, if this isn't a sign of heavy beat market I don't know what it will be, lucky are those who are very close to their ROI like myself but can't wait to start buying Rx580 at 100$ again, think it's impossible?

definitely possible but you have wonder if they are worth the investment. There are a lot of cards more efficient these days.

Mining motherboards aren't expensive unless you go after new gen mobos, you should be good with 3rd gen mining motherboards all you need is the extra pcie slots for mining isn't it? This is the only way to lesser your spendings

Used mining motherboards are definitely the way to go in this market.

you would probably get more replies if this was in the alt coin mining section. you didn't say what OS you are using so I am going to assume windows based on the 1200 memory OC. Have you tried putting pads between the backplate and the PCB? Then stick a heat sink and fan on the backplate.

here is some images of what others have done.

I forgot to renew my domain on time. Time passed and the registrar blocked my domain. Now I can't even renew it. I thought there was enough time for me to renew the domain name. What will to do? I need this specific domain name.

Some registers will hold your domain for a period of time after it expires you can normally contact them about getting it back. However they normally charge you an arm and a leg.

Re: Want to buy few used GPU

Going to choose from few old GPUs from a friend of a friend that needed money and want to sell them, what will be the better decision between 1080ti and Vega 64? Which one is more durable for mining and give less stress or troubles?

I would go with the 1080ti. Post ETH i think the 1080ti will be the more profitable card. Using todays numbers and in a world without ETH the Vega will make $1.25 a day but the 1080ti will make $1.45. Then you add in these are used cards and buying used Vegas is risky, you never know what kinda shape that HBM2 memory is going to be in. The 1080ti however are rock solid and durable cards you can mistreat them and they will keep on ticking.

Since you say if you take it out and put it back in it works it might be slipping out of the slot for some reason. It can happen on the riser with those cheap locks if they are not fully locked in or sometimes the locking mechanism breaks. but defiantly sounds like a riser problem.

Hello, I have 12 Intel Xeon Gold 6248R @ 3.00GHz processors, I have 288 processors in total.

Which coin do you think I can mine with the best profit?

At the moment Raptoreum is the most profitable CPU coin to mine. And since we are on the topic of Raptoreum I am going to do my shameless plug of my miner

https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=5378643.0 <-- lower fee then any other Raptoreum miner out there.

Swogerino is it possible to solo mine raptoreum coin? Since this coin is still new I'm guessing there will be easy luck to find blocks solo mining raptoreum or this is a very bad idea?

I know you asked Swogerino this but. You may have some luck solo mining Raptoreum the network hashrate and difficulty has come down from the highs of December. But it is my opinion that pool mining is always better. I view solo mining as gambling and i am more about the guaranteed daily payout.

Re: Worry about what temp is safe?
by
cmyk-B
on 17/01/2022, 07:58:20 UTC
I think these days that chart is mostly irrelevant. It is listing Core temps and most GPU algorithms these days are memory hard and memory temps really depends on memory type. the best source for safe temps is to read the datasheet for whatever memory manufacture / type your GPU is utilizing. But 90% of the time when a GPU fails its normally a capacitor or mosfet and is an easy fix. When im looking to buy broken GPUs the lists are almost always the lower end brands like Zotac because they use cheap capacitors and mosfets to hit there price target. The cheaper parts just don't hold up against the 24/7 usage.

Re: CPU mining on virtual machine
by

on 13/01/2022, 10:19:18 UTC
Hi,
I am about to upgrade my memory on the host to 32GB. I am going to build as many virtual Ubuntu's as I can run. I have an app on my windows computer that pays about $5 a week. I need more than 1 computer to make anything significant. I am also contemplating running a CPU miner on all the Ubuntu computers.
I have played around with the Ubuntu and the lowest I can get it to boot up at is 350MB of ram. Does this have anything to do with the CPU mining. Also, please post a link to a CPU miner I could download and run through Terminal.
Thank you,
Stacey

First since you asked for a terminal miner I am going to do a shameless plug of my Raptorium miner.
https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=5378643.0

Running a cpu miner in a virtual machine is really not worth it even if you spin up multiple. In all cases you will see a better hashrate from running it on the Host machine because you loose hashrate from not being able to utilize CPU optimizations and from the emulation process. As for memory having more memory does not affect the hashrate but having faster memory will give you a tiny boost on Raptorium and no increase on Monero. What most CPU mining algorithms really love is a large L3 cache size. That is the primary reason AMD processors tend to do better then Intel.

Re: Refused from more than 20 insurance companies in Quebec for home crypto mining!
by
cmyk-B
on 13/01/2022, 09:51:38 UTC
Hi Bitcointalk community!

I was reading on this sub-forum that some people in the US got insurance for their computer hardwares.
Here in Québec, Canada, I had to call more than 10 insurance brokers before I got one interested to hear me out.

In Québec we cannot have professional insurance without public liability so it complicates things.
At first I was looking for an insurance to cover my mining gears against fire and theft.

Finally 2 weeks later, the broker insurance who accepted to look for insurances for my home mining activities wrote this to me:

Quote
Les assureurs réguliers n’ont pas d’appétit pour le minage tandis que  les grossistes n’ont pas de marché.

Translation: Regular insurers have no appetite for mining while wholesalers have no market.

He tried to contact all these insurance companies in Quebec:

https://i.imgur.com/FpYym0v.png

None of them were interested to offer me an insurance premium to cover my computer equipments.
This is crazy! In Québec we have few companies doing cryptocurrency mining in warehouses.

I am wondering if someone who lives in Québec know an insurance company who offers crypto mining protections?

Thank you

you said computer hardware so I am assuming it is GPU mining. for insurance you don't tell them it is for mining you tell them computer hardware. Most businesses in the financial sector will turn you away because of mining.

Those solo mining videos are click bate. In every case you will make more from pool mining. I bet he doesn't mention how much hashing power he has or show results over a large period.
Are you confusing cloud mining to solo mining? They aren't same thing 🤣 maybe you should do research on solo mining before making a comment on here mate, most cloud mining are scam because they don't have real equipments for mining but solo mining is real, it's mining on your own without the help of other miners once you solve a block it's all yours..

if I was talking about cloud mining I would of said cloud mining. In what part of my statement did I use the word scam? Maybe you should think before you reply to a post.

Re: H110 Pro BTC+ Won't boot with more than 9 GPU
by
cmyk-B
on 08/01/2022, 04:54:49 UTC
Hi all,

I'm having issues with my H110 Pro BTC+. It refuses to boot (don't even get BIOS) with more than 9 GPUs installed, on the 10th i get the issue, 9 works fine. I've followed the miners guide and ensured both molex plugs and the Sata connector (so 3 in total) are connected on the motherboard and are also using 3 separate cables back to the master PSU. Can anyone help? OS doesnt matter since it doesnt get that far.

Setup:
H110 pro BTC+
Intel G3930 CPU
4GB Ram
500GB Sata HDD
ATI Rx Vega 64 GPUs
3 x Corsair HX 1200 PSUs (1200 Watts each).

Is there perhaps some sort of undocumented issue with the board not supporting these cards? They require two 8pin PCI-E power connectors each, my power draw should be fine though, I have one PSU dedicated to the mother board and the other two PSUs for the GFX cards. Apart from that anyone got any bright ideas? Sad

I have a 12 card rig running with the exact configuration.

Intel(R) Celeron(R) CPU G3930 @ 2.90GHz
4gb micron memory
120gb sata

so it does work. These are my bios settings

Disable INTEL VIRTUALIZATION TECHNOLOGY
Disable Vt-d
Disable GPU-MULTIMONITOR
Enable Restore on AC/Power Loss
Disable Serial port
Disable Parallel port
Enable Above 4g Decoding
Disable onboard audio
PCI-E Subsystem set to x8/x4/x4
PCI-E Generation set to GEN2

If none of that fixes the problem try putting the card in another slot. that slot might be bad.

Looks promising, thanks for your effort.
It's a bit scary to be the first person to test it! Too bad your GitHub account has no public history, but at least it's been around since 2016.
Personally, I can't get a decent hashrate on ghostrider compared to randomx, so I'm not going to be the first tester.

Yes the Ghostrider hashrate fluctuates because it does algorithm switching and some of the algorithms are more CPU intensive. The last time I did the numbers it came out to be more profitable than mining RandomX. Quite a bit of people use the miner but I'm not sure if they are members of this forum or if they came from discord. Putting out a new miner these days is tough all you can do is put it out there, be as transparent as possible, and wait. For the first few weeks no one used it at all and now it starting to get foot traffic.

ASRock H110 Pro is what is on most of my rigs. I have never had problems with one but they are super hard to find these days. My favorite is the rebtech mining board. you can hang them like a GPU they come with CPU, RAM and they have the built in riser adapter.

Any chance you could help with the following error during compilation?
This is under centos 6 and gcc 8.3.1

util.c: In function ‘send_line’:
util.c:1136:15: error: ‘sock’ undeclared (first use in this function); did you mean ‘work’?
      n = send(sock, s + sent, len, 0);
               ^~~~
               work
util.c:1136:15: note: each undeclared identifier is reported only once for each function it appears in

Make sure you are downloading it from the official source because line 1136 in util.c is a case statement and the function has nothing to do with sockets.

https://github.com/JayDDee/cpuminer-opt/blob/master/util.c#L1136

Code:
case 196:  /* Testnet script hash */
