Re: Bitmain's Released Antminer S9, World's First 16nm Miner Ready to Order

Hi Guys, been dabbling in GPU mining but  a 1070 is almost a months salary and not worth the investment so I saved and bought a D3, but it packed up completely a month after receiving it and it is too expensive to send back, and frankly even if I could afford it, it is not worth the cost.

I have been saving now to buy a S9, but struggling to save enough and I hate asking, but is it possible for someone to sponsor me a coupon, it will really help a lot towards buying a S9.

Thanks in advance

I personally would't advise purchasing a miner now. The ROI is not worth it, unless you are mining for fun and you have extra money to spend.

You do not have to send the complete D3, just send defected boards with the cheapest carrier, even if it take days. Also you should've done research, buying a D3 is not worth at all. Now it is $550 but I guess you bought it before and pay way higher.

Yes it was the the December batch, I saw the bloody things is now 550, was a very bad buy.

How would I go about getting one of the $200 or $100 coupons?

Give me your bitmain acc email and I will send you $100 (I won't use it anyway)...

got many 100$ to give away too.

I would never say no to a coupon, maybe with that I will be able to replace my controller board of my D3 that is faulty.  Smiley

Hi, Not sure who to ask as i tried the support e-mail twice but no reply.

I requested a payout yesterday morning and it shows on your website as completed but I have not received the funds.

Who can assist me.

Just some sharing, when you request for payout, u will receive an email for confirmation and u need to click on the link that come with the email to confirm the payment.

after confirming the email, the payout process will took a while (like 10-30minute for paypal that i used b4) to receive..

Thanks. did all that and on their site it says transaction completed, but no payment received and also no reply to to my mails to support

Did U know, three days ago bitmaintech update github with DASH branch (to actual 1.0.0.9).

Not precisely sure what you mean, but nothing has changed from the Bitmain Firmware Page, up to this point. (time/date/etc)

https://shop.bitmain.com/support.htm?pid=00720170915192851224mJ36J1ap066E

Likely, IMHO, Bitmain will soon stop making firmware upgrades for this. In my case at 12c kwh, I can't see me running these

miners on Jan 1st, 2018!

(live and learn I guess)

This a weird world, where my original KNC Titan from Nov 6th, 2014 is still running and made today does $7.54 USD on 12c kwh at

1250 watts and 300mh.

Sheesh. 3 years and 1 month.

Yet this D3 is toaster city within 3-5 months at best.

Does not bode well, for my toaster purchases, from any ASIC manufacture in 2018!

oh well, I can't always pick winners Sad

(on the other hand, the 2 D3's I have will make sturdy bookcase ends/doorstops/boat anchors/space heaters/shooting range targets/hamster hovels/etc)

I think this is what he is referring too - https://github.com/bitmaintech/cgminer-dash

This is hearsay, but I just heard from a friend who is waiting for 3 D3's that his client ordered, (December batch as far as I know) that after they contacted Bitmain complaining about the D 3 situation, Bitmain offered too keep their money in credit and they can then order other machines next year when available and only pay the difference, if there is any.

He will send me the mail from Bitmain as soon as he receives it from his client.

As I said this is hearsay at the moment.

I've adressed bitmain with the same request, but they didn't accepted my complain...I did it 1,5 weeks ago.... Undecided

This apparently happened last Friday

My mail to Bitmain -

Nov 16, 04:20 CST

Is Bitmain looking at releasing a firmware for the Antminer D3 to enable alternative algorithm mining?

I would really recommend developing firmware to enable mining of other algorithms as Bitmain's reputation is at stake.

The D3 is currently not profitable at all and it is still a new miner.

And the response -

We brought the D3 to production in response to customer demand for Dash coin miners. Our D3 miner is designed for maximum efficiency to mine Dash coin with the X11 algorithm. This is programmed into the hardware and cannot be changed.

Profitability of mining depends largely on the difficulty of the Blockchain and the exchange rate of the coin, which are outside our control.

Mining altcoins is speculative and carries a number of risks as well as potential rewards. We encourage our customers to research these as with any investment.

Best regards,
Barbara
Bitmain

The question is;
Are they right or wrong about the algo addition capability
If it is  the ultimate truth , this is very bad news.

After quit our hope the thing is, maybe we can´t mine another algos according to that respond but what about find the code to do the miner works with just one of the 11 algos that be part of x11..... we are continue in that journey to find an answer

What do you want to hear from bitmain?
Okay, let's unlock the D3?

Of course they will say that it is impossible.

the changes that our friend made with the FW, if they asked they would say that it was impossible.

I agree, I knew what response they would give, but I had to try.
