where can i find the source code? Github is not actual, and i need to compile my self, because i use a Linux that is not based on debian, so the linux wallet will not run.

This is the sources: https://github.com/karmateam?tab=repositories

It is hard to find, because it is not on the first site of this thraed nor on the websit. If you google Karmacoin and github you find the old repo: github.com/karmacoin-team/karmacoin. And if you goggle Karm and github you find a repo of karma-runner. So i think there should be done something.

Re: [ANN][GRA] Graincoin - PoW/PoS coin | Fast, secure | Version 1.6.2 Release

Sad news. Coinedup removed Grain markets. They asked to withdraw balances, but their Graincoin wallet is offline. I send the e-mail to make them solve the issue. However, I did not got a single response from Coinedup for all my previous requests, so let's see if this works this time.

Coinedup didn't play fair when they put the 100.000GRA withdraw limit. I think we need to move to another exchange but of course it's easier said than done.
We need to find some good marketing people that believe in Grain...
How's things going on the development front? Any new features coming up?

We are listed on swissex, so Coinedup removal is not a biggest problem. May be it is even an advantage, as their level of customer support is awful IMO. As for development, I am looking into other coins achievements and innovations to not invent the wheel from one hand and not to just copy-n-paste: we need some really unique innovation to push the Grain up. The main goal is to implement the anonymity, of course.

Also I am considering to switch the hashing function as someone proposed: the scrypt is very energy-inefficient in terms of GPU-mining compare to other existing algos, so I am in the process of testing different existing combinations to pick the most energy efficient, from one hand, and having questionable feasibility to be implemented in hard silicon in the nearest future, from the other hand.

As for the algos you're talking about something like X11?

Yes. I am not sure it would be exactly X11 as I did not make its performance/power consumption test yet. As the memory-intensive algorithms are not the barrier anymore for ASIC developers, I would prefer not to use anything memory-dependent that makes GPU mining two times more expensive according to my tests.

I think when the Algo get´s changed we need something really new to get the attention of the cryptomunity. I think the people dont really care about the enregy but are interested in everything new and i don´t know a coin using cuckoo cycle so i think it´s worth to take a look at.

Of my last 500 generated blocks,  41 orphans.

i am so sad that you encounter the problem,,,,
I have less than 5% orphans thats very good, before i had 95% orphan. And it is not possible to eleminare orphans totally at such a low hashrate.
Maybe worth a thougt to change the algo to something new like cuckoo cycle. Because it will be very easy to get 51% with the upcoming scrypt-Asics.

Is there a possibilty to remove unconfirmed transaction from the transactionlist in my wallet? I have really a lot of them and all transactions made when i was at a fork are in front of the actual ones so i have to search every time when i will have a look on the actual transactions.
And another Question. Is it normal that i get 90% unconfirmed blocks when i mine solo with GPU? I get several blocks every second, thats a lot to much, but more than 90% disappaers after about 10 confirms. When i mine with -gen option of my wallet i get between 1 or 2 blocks a minute and only 1 block after some hours but they all get their 50 confirms.

Thank you all for warm words.

To keep you informed:

As I already mentioned I am presently making the transition to leveldb use and, more important, to multilevel organisation of the blocks database. The reason to do this is a big number of blocks in the chain. We just passed the block 600000 and this done in just 6 months and the chain expected to grow with the same speed. The full import of the preliminary filtered from orphans block chain file  (580000 blocks of the main Grain chain) requires about 7 hours on AMD Athlon II X2 270 3.40GHz (dual core) with the current official wallet. The start up of the current wallet also takes about 7-8 minutes (not counting the time to synchronize with network)! This has to be changed as otherwise no one will be able to use the Grain even with fixes of the PoW diff. Some improvements of performance already achieved: the full import of that sample requires ~20% less time with my current development version of the wallet.

Someone would ask: why I am talking about the import? This is not the regular task of a wallet. The answer is simple: the blocks that are read from the file are passed to exactly the same function ProcessBlock that is used to accept a blocks received from network. So, now this process takes 20% less time. In computing industry this means that you spend 20% less electricity to fulfill the task.

Unfortunately, the Grain source code was forked from very old version of Novacoin. To be more precise, it seems that it had been forked from Bottlecaps which, in turn, is a fork of Novacoin (I see some comments/captions in different files that mention Bottlecaps). The sad thing that since source code forking not only bosian, but Bottlecaps dev as well, have not paid attention to the ongoing development and fixes released by Balthazar, his team and other people. So this is very old code and I am bringing it more or less in sync with Novacoin to make it possible merge in the required changes. This could not be done automatically as not every change in Novacoin code is relevant to Grain. The code is very big and quite complex, so this process is not fast.

I don't want to make any estimation now, but I put a goal for myself to finalize this when we reach the block 6300000 so we could schedule the fork at block 650000.

I am sorry for being so detailing. I understand that many of you are technically skilled people, but I think not all of you.

Regards,

bee7

Edit:

I forgot to say that I bought all domains: graincoin.org, graincoin.net, graincoin.info and graincoin.io. So if someone has web design skills and want to maintain the site then we could do this. The only problem is that I have no password to the 'master' site at http://graincoin.webs.com, so we need to find another hosting (as graincoin at webs.com is already occupied)

That sounds all very great, but i think one of our first goal should be to get a working block explorer and a pool running. I sorry but i have no expirience in webdesign so i can´t help. But i think it would be better to make a really well designed website, the old one looks, sorry, a little bit shabby compared to most other coins.

so i can´t test "getblockhash" and also can´t give you the output of "getpeerinfo". So i start to dowload the blockchain again. At the moment i have 52% completed and a lot of already confirmed transactions, but nothing happend at my balance. Balance, stake and unconfirmed stay all together at 0,00.

Once you are fully synced, try running repairwallet in the debug console.

If that doesn't work, try the -rescan commandline option.

Note that if your tx was orphaned due to a fork it is likely that coins you mined were also on that (invalid) fork. You won't be able to use those once you are back on the correct chain.
Thanks, after "repairwallet" everything is fine my 6000000GRA wich never arrived at coinedup are back in my wallet and i get 300000GRA from stake. It´s fine to see that the silence at this forum is over. I hope we can bring grain back up again. It would be great if grainers.net will be back online.

At the moment my Wallet shows 475893 blocks of total 584776 Blocks downloaded. When i noticed the Problem the first time the wallet shows 475111 blocks downloaded.

How long did it take to get from 475111 to 475893? When testing another coin I noticed that once the client forked, syncing slowed to a glacial rate (to advance a single block may have taken up to half a minute) and in the meantime the client was going crazy trying to resolve the fork (see https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=604677 )

If your client is also similarly slow you may need to delete the blockchain db and start over. As a bonus this should relink all of your mined coins.

edit: I cannot see txid 86e772c87c27e37c76c65e02a470efee37a47ec39c0250e8fef686c964c63980 which lends credence to the possibility of you having forked.

Try in the debug console: getblockhash 475893

Hash value for block 475893 is c1e9f16f39ae96a14000d0c4300992454ee9ef752d937cfe1141cb0f18cce797 at this end. If your value is different, you are forked (or I am!)

It takes nearly 2 weeks to get from block 475111 to 475893. I also thought that i have a fork and so i already reload the complete blockchain, and in the end all my coins where gone except 6.44. But i will try it again with the new nodes from bee7.
Sorry bee7, it looks like there was a powerfailure or something like that when i was at work. When i came home my computer was turned off and i can´t restart the wallet with my blockchain db. I tried to start with -reindex and get this:

grain-qt: src/kernel.cpp:395: unsigned int GetStakeModifierChecksum(const CBlockIndex*): Zusicherung »pindex->pprev || pindex->GetBlockHash() == (!fTestNet ? hashGenesisBlock : hashGenesisBlockTestNet)« nicht erfüllt.
Abgebrochen

so i can´t test "getblockhash" and also can´t give you the output of "getpeerinfo". So i start to dowload the blockchain again. At the moment i have 52% completed and a lot of already confirmed transactions, but nothing happend at my balance. Balance, stake and unconfirmed stay all together at 0,00.

It would be great when you overtake this coin, but I think there is minimum some big Problems. The biggest one seems to be a big fork. My Wallet sync speed slows extrely down at the beginning of May. At the End it needs several hours to sync one block. So i deleted every thing except the wallet.dat. Now the wallet syncs, bur all my graincoins are gone i have onla 6.44 GRa left instead of several millions. And whats i really don´t understand, all the big transactions are shown correctly and confirmed in the transactinlist ao the wallet, when i add all this my millons should be shown in my balance or as stake but all i see are 6.44GRA. Also a Problem is, that i can´t find a working block explorer or a working Pool.
Sorry i can´t help you to develop something for the coin. I am not experienced enough in programming or web design (homepage needs to polished). But when you overtake the coin and fix the Problems, i will pump it a little bit without a dump.

What block number your wallet reports presently?

At the moment my Wallet shows 475893 blocks of total 584776 Blocks downloaded. When i noticed the Problem the first time the wallet shows 475111 blocks downloaded.
I Also tried to send 6000000GRA to coined up at 6th May but they never arrived although i get 781 confimation until now.
The TXID is: 86e772c87c27e37c76c65e02a470efee37a47ec39c0250e8fef686c964c63980

Hi, Graincoiners.

It's been a long time since I last posted here. Unfortunately, in March and beginning of April I had no time for all this crypto things. When I got some spare minutes I found that bosian is gone. I tried to contact him with PM and skype for a month already to no avail. Also, I was told by the man who had some business with bosian that he also could not get in touch. At the same time I monitored this thread for last three weeks and taking to account that my node has connections I understand that some adepts of Grain are still around.

Many of you could remember that I did a fix to the Grain wallet that was related to bonus blocks harvesting, so you might have some proof of my skills. I looked into the problem with PoW difficulty as I want to PoW-mine Grains and found the solution, so I am ready to release the fix.

The fix will cause a hard fork so all important public services should be notified in advance. ATM we have three exchanges and one payment processor (may be more services, I need to check the list at the OP).

Also, I got a positive response from the current Grain domains owner regarding buying back these domains so we could keep the sites alive as well.

I am not strong enough (better to say not at all) in marketing, but I see that Turbosx50 is ready to care about this part.

Taking all said above do you want me to take over the Grain and become its major developer?

bee7.

P.S.
@almightyruler: I believe that the high traffic volume is related to the very low PoW difficulty atm and the PoW problem to be fixed.

@BitcoinNational: What did you do useful for crypto coins community for all your time on this forum apart from posting shit about the coins you don't like? This is a rethorical question.

@ofeefee: the ABE block explorer code need to be fixed as it does not support the unique feature of Grain coin (the bonus block reward that is send as a second coinbase tx in the next block). I am looking into the possibility to fix it or to use alternative implementations.

Are you looking to SPEND some Graincoins?

We're launching JuggaloCoin next week, and we are accepting Graincoin (as well as 51 other alt coins) for purchaing slots in our "Insane Coin Posse" (like an IPO).

It's a great chance to put some Graincoin to use and get in FIRST on this hot new coin.

i think grain is as solid as an alternate of bitcoin could ever be. the devs are among for sure the finest of Engineers. just need to grab the public eye. i was thinking, ...colored coins ... random superblocks ... rare supercoins?   idk, maybe ...
I also think that Grain is a very good coin, but i think the easiest way for the community to promote the coin is stop selling it, and everbody who can give a little amount of bitcoin schould buy every day a small amount of Graincoin. Because Graincoin is so cheap that it is easy to pump it and the best way is to promote it is to pump it slow day by day for 0,000001mBtc for example when investors can see the coin is growing continously they will jump on the the winning Train and the rocket starts. But in the last weeks i only want to hold the coin at ist´s value and it looks impossible because every day there where millions of coins sold against my wall so i need help from the community.

My wallet also syncs without a problem.

And to the comunity don´t ask Bosian all the time that he should do something. 200 mill coins left from premining are not enough to promote the coin at his value now. The imortant thing to do ist to pump the coin and for that target you have to hold your coins for a long time or better buy some coins an don´t sell them only while their value is rising a little bit.
