Re: What's stopping people from using bitcoin?
by

on 23/04/2016, 05:29:59 UTC
What's stopping people from using bitcoin, you ask? The majority of people don't know what is bitcoin and they might as well never heard of it. People tend to fear the unknown, because the aren't informed about bitcoin, they fear that it's a scam or smth. Without proper knowledge about bitcoin, you'll never understand its advantages over fiat money. And because the majority  of people are too lazy to study bitcoin, then they just ignore it.
Yup the majority of the people dont know this but in this topic, i think the bitcoin user is the topic,
Why they should stopping people from using bitcoin? I think if the persons addicted in the betting and always lose he should stopped that bitcoin, because he never win, he should stopped this.
Exactly. Bitcoin is misused in many shady trading, like gambling, drugs, porn, laundry etc. The main media will always report the negative aspects and ruin the image of bitcoin. Bitcoin's use cases are far more than that, for the benefit of our daily life.

Don't expect too much that you can earn some money from gambling. Most of time you will give the wager to the owners of the gambling website for his service. just keep in mind that gambling is just for fun. No matter win or loss, don't be serious.

Re: Do you actively spend your bitcoins?
by

I think most people are seeing bitcoin only as an investment option which is why many replies in this thread says that they don't spend their bitcoins and are saving it for a price increase, which is fine but they don't realize, if they use it wherever they possibly can then that will increase the price much faster.

So buy, save, spend and buy again.

Exactly, there should be a movement in bitcoins, it is useless to hold bitcoins without using it and only hoping that price will reach moon and that would be the right time to sell, if there is a rotation in bitcoins then price would be much higher and stable.

Agreed. It's economics. And as with any economic system things have to be in motion for the system to survive and thrive.

Yeah, and spending bitcoins on regular basis is the right thing to do, I keep on spending my bitcoins on daily basis, as I gamble everyday, not a big amount though, but I do gamble and sometimes I win and sometimes   I loose, but the percentage of loosing is more as compared to winning.
good! At least you can have some control of the gambling behavior. I gamble from time to time and use Bitcoin to buy things available to be paid in Bitcoin.

Re: Which will be more adopted in long run: btc mobile payments or debit cards?
by

I would say it totally depends on the situation or what type of good your are purchasing.

Bitcoin payment is surely convenient but unlike debit card, all dont accept it. and even in future why would people take the pain of accepting bitcoins when they want is fiat only which can be done with debit card. people wont take the effort to accept bitcoin and convert it to fiat
What do you mean "effort"? Accepting bitcoin payment is painless,  fast ,cross borders, no charge back risk. What you only need is to show our address to the senders. The payments processors will take care of all of the other things, cover the bitcoin to fiat, transfer to you bank.

I would suggest abolish or reduce the use of cash in the future when the infrastructure of bitcoin is well built. At present, it is difficult to get instant confirmation of bitcoin transactions.
Actually many merchants don't require the 10 minutes' waiting for one confirmation, like coffee shops, convenient store etc.

Like you mentioned, 50% of newly launched coins will be dead. So investing it is risky and there is 50% of chance you will lose your money. Yes , you can say there are still 50% of chance to earn money. IMO Why not invest the under valued coins mentioned above. They have all of the underlying innovative features to support. As an investors, if he holds his coins, he wouldn't lose any money.

I'm new to btc world as well, but even this forum warns their member to avoid paypal transaction. So... maybe you'll find it quite difficult? why don't you just monetize your paypal balance then use it to buy btc?
Op has mentioned the reasons. Please read properly before asking questions.
There are 2 other options besides trading here on the forum.

You can exchange Paypal for BTC through Virwox.
Here's a guide:
https://en.bitcoin.it/wiki/VirWoX

Or you can find someone through either Localbitcoins or Paxful.
He is right! But I have to say you need a few days to get verified by Virwox before you are able to trade.

The level of security on online wallets can't compete with the local wallets! Why not use local wallets? You control your own private key and ease the concerns!

Also you have 2 valid negative trust. You can ask your previous lenders who fund those 2 loans.
OP asking the previous lenders cannot help anything! The negative feedback is given by Quickseller. The one he should ask is Quickseller!

0.3 is bit too high. Potential activity?
I think 0.2-0.25 is fair price!
Dont know how to count potential activity sorry - let me know if you know how to
I think the price is fair - 0.25 is the lowest I can go but I would wait at least a month or so before selling for that low, not rushing the sale

I can help you counting the potential activity of your account. Pm me the profile link if you want
I would rather not send the link to anyone but escrow, dont want it to get red trust - just being cautious
I dont think the potential activity is that high - I am sure I have missed some activity periods
Ok, it is still sr member including potential activities. The price is still based on its current position! If the position stays the same in one month, the price wouldn't be different after one month ppl is willing to pay!

for the average folk that dont want to deal with the complete blockchain i would recommend using electrum, then if your mining your not an average bitcoin users most up to date on news and block statistics.
Even using electrum has some extent of risks. Because you don't know which server you are connecting, and what version of bitcoin qt they are using. The best practice is to run your own bitcoin qt wallet locally with the newest version software.

Re: Can the blockchain be frozen of miners stop validating transactions?
by
coinsect
on 06/07/2015, 08:35:34 UTC
the Bitcoin system could ever be frozen due to non-activity or a community consensus - could the blockchain be frozen?
The volume of transaction is on the uptrend as bitcoin's adoption rate is increasing. How could be non-activity. The community would never allow freeze the bitcoin system, and it wouldn't happen at the moment or the near future.

What if the miners decided to stop working? What if the community decided to stop validating transactions? Wouldn't that freeze the blockchain and thereby put a halt to bitcoin the currency?
As long as bitcoin has value in terms of fiat money, miners wouldn't decide to stop working, at least for most of them.

Like you said, at the time of uncertainty, bitcion will bounce back. Ppl are buying it to hedge against the risk of fiat money losing value. As bitcoin's adoption rate increases, ppl will treat bitcoin as a safe haven as gold. We could name it as digital gold. Bitcion has a lot of potential.

Would they wander off to LTC as well?  Grin

uhhh LTC? what is LTC? ahh, I know, dead project from some chinese guy without community..Smiley)
Some ppl are buying up this crappcoin!

Yep, I agree that this is a psychological move.  If people in Greece were really buying bitcoins en mass then I believe we would see a much sharper increase in price.
I don't think they have the money to buy now! And it seems ppl from other regions are not buying up as well.
