Welcome back. Why the total removal of 200,9 ?

In fact, I'll probably return 200,9 variant later, the main reason is different optimization methods, it was too hard to put this solvers in an old miner. And, another reason is an asic's of course.

Hey, just wanted you to know, there are still GPU mineable 200,9 coins out there, even with the onset of ASICS. Komodo's new all Z-Address asset chain, PIRATE, is still mineable for me with a single GeForce GTX 1060.

I made about $1 USD worth in 3 days in a pool with a 5% fee (it is current the only pool for it) with on and off mining and averaging around 260 Sols/sec while on. Yeah, it isn't much, but what do you expect for a single graphics card?

I know ASICS have made 200,9 coins less profitable for GPU miners so it probably isn't on your priority list of improvements, but it is still doable for some coins and I would like to see it on your miner again.

CoinTracking Development Team:

I purchased your Unlimited plan a while ago and I am pretty happy with it so far. However, there are a few features I would like to see implemented in the near future.

The list below is ordered by how important the features are to me and links are provided to send you to the relevant data where it is not self explanatory.

  • Gemini Automatic API Imorts: I noticed you have Gemini standard Exchange Imports but not Automatic API Imports. I recently started my switch to Gemini (I know a lot of people think Gemini is a government sellout, but even then, so is Coinbase and I don't want to pay the extra high costs on LocalBitcoins under most circumstances) to save money on Coinbase's outrageous fees. It would be nice to have automatic imports from Gemini's API.
  • Automatic API Imports From Mobile App: not a huge deal because it is one setup and then it is done, but it still would be nice to add and edit stuff from the app.
  • OAuth2 Support for Coinbase: it would be nice to use OAuth2 instead of an API for Coinbase imports as it is more secure and Coinbase supports it.
  • Add Barchart Price Data for USD Exchange: Barchart has some of the most accurate cryptocurrency price data out there. It probably won't be free to access but would be a nice premium feature for Unlimited or Pro accounts.

Thank you for reading and for providing a great service to the crypto community!

Sincerely,
colin012

how do you pronounce that algo i need to ask my mom for some money to buy

I pronounce it "Keck-Kack Twenty-Five." Though it might be more profitable to mint it right now rather than buy it. Minting is relatively easy.

I had an idea for speeding up nonce and "attempt" generation.

Let me qualify this first: I am brand new to the nitty gritty technical details of mining. I am in no way an expert.

Now that that is out of the way, I am presuming that the nonce serves as a seed to a PRNG which builds the data to be hashed and checked against the difficulty. I will call this data the "attempt string" because I don't know what the proper term is.

Anyways, so far, the fastest PRNG I have ever heard of is the SFMT. It is open source and written in c. It is optimized to take advantage of certain features of the CPU to generate random numbers as fast as possible. It may be worth while to check out because it could speed up nonce generation and attempt string generation. It is possible that this could improve the overall performance of your mining software.

Now, on to a question. NXT has recently released the MS or Monetary System. Some coins released on the MS can be "minted" using SHA-256, Scrypt, or Keccak25. Minting is almost the same thing as mining with the difference that it works like a transaction on the NXT blockchain and thus costs a transaction fee to the account of the minter.

There is talk about making a GPU/ASIC minting software... The only thing is, the Devs at NXT only know Java and we all know that it is faster to run mining or "minting" software natively rather than over the JVM.

It would not be that hard to adapt your software to mint MSCoins. All it would take is native transaction signing and some code to submit that to the NXT API server. Plus, of course, removal of unnecessary code and features.

Being the first GPU minting software for MSCoins would certainly be a noteworthy accomplishment!

The largest hurdle to more NXT use is the difficulty in setting up and getting things going. Whoever greatly simplifies that process will be minting gold.

NXT is easy to set up if you get the Wesley Client. It is just like installing any normal computer program on Mac or PC. Linux doesn't have a Wesley Client but if you are using Linux, you should be expecting things to be a little more complicated...

It will be only mineable with CPUs?

Right now, there no Keccak25 ASICS and no Minting software for GPUs. So for the moment in is CPU only. I heard from somewhere that GPU use on this particular Algo in not profitable but I am not positive of that.

NXT MS platform i think is created to add demand for NXT, since every transaction either minting/mining coins, (or even sending coins? and reward of stake PoS coin generation? pls correct me if im wrong) requires an amount of NXT.  everything revolves around NXT,

Yes and no. It was envisioned before NXT was even made. The idea was that the MS would exist to replace altcoins all together and offer the best of both the PoW world (e.g. instant transactions) and the PoW world (e.g. fair distribution). Right now, it has the effect of creating demand around NXT because it requires NXT to do almost everything.

Right now, Mintable MSCoins require NXT to do things and can only be traded with other people for NXT. This works like a PoW coin but can be exchanged for NXT for less fees than a centralized cryptocurrency exchange would take as it is run in a decentralized exchange. This is still annoying as you have to trade the coin for NXT occasionally to have the NXT needed to mint and sell.

I can see your frustration as it is blatently a way to increase demand for NXT. On the other hand, MSCoins offer benefits that other coins cannot. For example, they can be traded for NXT in a 100% decentralized exchange for very little cost whereas other altcoins need to go through a centralized exchange platform like cryptsy that is liable to get hacked (like Btr and Mt. Gox) and charge higher exchange fees. Further, MSCoins can be easily used to buy and sell NXT Assets and take advantage of other NXT features (such as regexs for buyer confirmation). It all occurs within the existing NXT Platform so it is easy to manage an entire portfolio of MSCoins from a single computer application without a need for running multiple wallets, and because the exchange is integrated, it is easy to swap MSCoins for a crypto that is traded against USD without needing to set up a separate login on a different website.

So, to answer your question... Yes, it is a way to increase demand for NXT. Still, it offers a great variety of benifits that other cryptocurrencies don't have which makes it worth it and it was planned from the beginning by BCNext before NXT was even released.

Nothing interested here , seems like another change of variables in source code.

Hardly, MSCoins are not made using any source code. They are issued using the NXT platform without any coding involved.

Sentinelcoin (STNLC)
Project Sentinel's way of encouraging contribution to NXT Security!

What is it?
Sentinelcoin is a NXT MSCoin aimed at encouraging people to contribute to NXT network level security and NXT personal level security in a variety of ways! Some examples of this are contributing to the Security Library, finding holes in NXT security, and developing NXT security related projects. All of these activities will have bounties paid in Sentinelcoins. The other way to get Sentinelcoins is by minting them (though security contributions will be more handsomely rewarded).

Is uses the Keccak25 PoW algorithm, a new ASIC (and possibly GPU) resistant algorithm aimed at providing fair distribution.

Because of an issue with 8 Decimal MSCoins, STNLC now has a sister coin, SNTNL! STNLC can be traded for SNTNL at a 1 to 1 rate. STNLC is Mintable and has 8 decimals for greater precision. SNTNL is not mintable and only has 4 decimal places, meaning it can be exchanged for NXT at fractional values, unlike its 8 decimal equivalent.

What are the technical details?
STNLC
Algorithm: Keccak25
Initial Supply: 1'000'000 Units
Maximum Supply: 999'999'999 Units
Decimals: 8
Minimum Difficulty: 1
Maximum Difficulty: 15

SNTNL
Initial Supply: 999'999'999
Maximum Supply: 999'999'999
Decimals: 4

What is an MSCoin?
An MSCoin is a cryptocurrency issued on top of the NXT platform. They can be issued with a variety of different options allowing them to function as traditional PoW cryptocurrencies (as is the case with Sentinelcoin), pseudo PoS coins that pay dividends, or controlled fiat currencies for the power hungry.

Are there any differences in difficulty between PoW MSCoins and traditional PoW cryptocurrencies?
The answer is yes. The difficulty for a MSCoin is applied to the smallest possible unit for that coin. For a coin with 8 decimal places (like Sentinelcoin), the difficulty applies to finding 0.00000001 coins. Further, the difficulty, rather than adjusting to the number of people minting (that is, the equivalent of mining for a MSCoin), is adjusted based on the number of coins already minted in relation to the total amount coins ever to exist.

Minimum Difficulty represents the difficulty of minting the smallest possible unit at the very beginning of the coin's existence. Maximum Difficulty represents the difficulty of minting the very last of the smallest possible units. As more units enter the economy, the difficulty gradually increases from the minimum to the maximum.

Further, you can attempt to mint as many units of a MSCoin as you wish, it will just increase the difficulty, and thus the amount of time it takes.

The equation for calculating to aproxomate number of hashes it will take to mint a certian number of coins is as follows:

hashes = 2difficulty × numberOfDecimalPlaces10 × numberOfWholeUnitsToMint

More information on the math behind the minting process can be found here: https://nxtforum.org/monetary-system-153/(guide)-how-to-set-a-good-difficulty-for-mintable-currencies/

What about SentinelC assets?
These will be swapped for STNLC with 3 STNLC for every 1 SentinelC asset turned in.

What existing bounties are there?
None yet. These will be determined once STNLC has a roughly established exchange rate for NXT. This being said, I am more than happy to let people claim bounties from the Project Sentinel Library immediately... After which a a reward in STNLC will be worked out. Another thing we need is a logo. If someone were to submit a logo now, I would work out a price in STNLC once a rough exchange rate has been established.

Thank you all and happy minting!

BOINC Announcement!
There has been talk about including BOINC (PoW that contributes to scientific research) algorithms for Nxt MSCoins! If this comes to pass, there will be a new version of STNLC released that will run off of one of these algorithms. The old STNLC will be honored in exchange for the new one for a 3 month period, after that, it it I will no longer give away the old one as a reward and will not exchange it for the new one.

It may still live on as a life of its own but will simply no longer be a part of Project Sentinel. Thank you all!

[ANN] LacCharts | Crowd Funding NXT Asset | Find the Most Profitable Mining Pool

LacCharts

Introduction

Want to know which pool is the most profitable to mine at? Me too! I have built a program which is capable of mining at multiple pools (for multiple cryptocurrencies, but that is for later) and calculating which one is the most profitable! Here is the catch, it needs a $12,000 computer to mine fast enough to collect a significant amount of data... So, I am crowd-funding my research! (The name LacCharts is derived from my last name: Lacina.)

The Outcomes

I figure that there are three possible outcomes to my research:

1. The biggest pools are the most profitable to mine at.
2. Solo mining is the most profitable.
3. Medium-size pools are the most profitable to mine at.

I have a different planned course of action for number 3 than I do for and 2. I will explain below.

The LacCharts Asset

I have issued an asset on the NXT Asset Exchange (if you don't like NXT, too bad, it was the easiest decentralized exchange for me to use!) called LacCharts to raise funds for this $12,000 computer. Now, depending on the outcome of my research, this asset will work one of two ways:

1. If medium sized pools are the most profitable, I will keep the computer mining and send up-to-date data to a website. In order to access the data on the website, one must pay $5-$10/month (will accept equal amount of BTC or other cryptos) for access the the data. This will help miners know which pool to mine at during any given moment. 10 of this asset can be turned in for 1 free month of access to the data. 20 can be turned for 2 months, 30 for 3 months, etc. At the current price of NXT, this means that you will be getting a $5-$10 service for only around $3. In this case, I will sell more than the $12,000 worth of the asset to cover the costs of getting the website developed.

2. If large pools or solo mining are the most profitable ways to mine, I will publish the data (in some way), and then buy back the the asset for either it's original price in NXT or 50% or it's price in NXT if it is worth more than $3 USD (the original price of the asset in USD). That way, people are either getting their money back or are gaining money if the price of NXT goes up.

How to Buy the LacCharts Asset

If you aren't a regular user of NXT, you may be wondering how you can purchase this asset. There are two ways: the easy way and the hard way. I will outline both here.

In the easy way, you follow this link: https://trade.secureae.com/#915040979443062893 Then you create an account on the Secure AE website and fund your account with BTC. The Secure AE will then send you the NXT you can use to purchase the asset.

In the hard way, you download the latest NXT Client from here: http://nxtra.org/nxt-wallet/ Then you make a NXT account, trade you BTC for NXT at an exchange, send the NXT to your account, then go to the Asset Exchange page, click the "Add Asset" button, then enter in this asset id: 915040979443062893 and hit enter. Finally, you click on the asset on the left of the page and make a "Buy Order." It is much easier to just use the Secure AE if you ask me.

What to do if you get buyers remorse!

Lets say you buy 100 of the LacCharts asset, then you begin to have doubts that I will ever raise the $12,000 or maybe you wonder if I will actually follow through with my promises. There is no problem! You can just sell the asset to someone else who doesn't right on the Asset Exchange. Simply make a sell order and place the price just below mine. Someone will likely see an opportunity and buy it cheap from you. Then you get most of your money back. It is as simple as that.

Thank you all for your time and consideration!

I can promote via my coin blog and we can get your OP translated into Mandarin Chinese by my Hubby. Let me know if any of this is of use. I can't program or hack but I can help promote. Cheesy

Absolutely! Translations are always welcome! I will pay Sentinelcoin for them. The details on translations are here: https://nxtforum.org/project-sentinel/translation-bounties/

Also, if you can afford it, you can add to existing bounties. I would be more than happy if you tossed in some, BTC, LTC, NXT, and/or NXT assets for the bounty on a few articles!
